Finding My Dream Job During A Worldwide Pandemic…read more I saw the most perfect job position posted on Indeed by 80Twenty that aligned with everything I wanted with my career. I applied immediately, and checked for the next few days, if my application had been viewed. Knowing how competitive Los Angeles is, not to mention how much more it is now during a pandemic, I searched for the job posting on LinkedIn, hoping I could and a direct message to the assigned recruiter. At the time the job wasn't posted and there were multiple recruiters that worked with 80Twenty. I went through each profile, seeing if maybe they were separated by industry but I couldn't really tell. So I finally sent a LinkedIn direct message to the CEO of 80Twenty, Annika Brytnse. I sat with anticipation, over-analyzing if I had overstepped, if she would even respond, etc. I've worked with some amazing recruiters before, but often it's difficult to get one to respond back due to the overwhelming response of candidates they usually get. To my surprise, she replied back quickly, providing me an email introduction to Larissa Gerlach, Head of Recruitment Services. My experience with Larissa was absolutely amazing. I was able to speak candidly with her, and she communicated with me at every step. She even took additional time out of her day, to let me practice a Go-To-Market presentation, I had created on my own, hoping it would help give me an edge. She provided feedback and encouragement, that gave me the confidence to present for the executive team. When I received the news I had gotten the job from the client, Larissa didn't just email me congratulations, she called me directly! She explained that our connection wouldn't just stop here. She would be there to assist, even after I started the role. I've never felt so supported by other recruiters before. She went above and beyond her job description. In closing, I would reccomend 80Twenty to both potential clients and applicants. Looking at posts on LinkedIn and my own experiences regarding experiences with recruiters aren't always as positive. Lack of follow-up and full knowledge of what the role entails is often frustrating on both the client and applicant side. Mostly SRO books live, in-studio audiences for LA-based talk shows. I've gotten to attend tapings of weekly comedy shows, sitcom pilots, holiday specials, courtroom gallery for court shows, you name it. The work depends on the production so it changes up and gets slow sometimes - Standing Room Only doesn't control that but has a solid core crew that keeps things light and moving in an industry that can be hectic. I had an issue with a payment that went missing and had to call the payroll office, expecting it to be a nightmare, and the tech could not have been more helpful and awesome at getting everything corrected. So that side of the business works too, and it's good to know that the one time out of a hundred I actually had a problem, it was simple to fix. I've recommended all my friends in LA to sign up! The number one thing is, read and RE-READ the dress codes! Those come from the show so what seems stupid (no stripes) is sometimes just TV rules. And some sets do not allow you to have your phone with you or turned on, at all, so if you are ADDICTED to your phone and can't comprehend reading or chatting during down time, this might not be for you.

I do not actively look for any roles and I have no intention of doing this full-time. However, this week I received a text from Standing Room Only to join a group audition call. I joined the zoom and it was for Judge Mathis and I was casted as the defendant. From the first call I feel like this is a legit company and I was immediately provided all of the information I needed leaving no room for questions. Rahul sent an email with all of the information I needed for the shoot. He called me to confirmed I received it. I was told the shoot was the next day, so I drove to Standing Room Only in Culver City. The morning of the shoot I sent the production assistants, Karen and Zack, a text to let them know I was on my way and they immediately responded. I feel like the team was very professional. As soon as I arrived on site the security guards greeted me and told me where to park. Once inside, the security guys at the table checked my bags and told me where to hang my clothes. Once it was time for check-in Venita greeted me with a smile and asked for my photo I.D and passport. Zack had a one on one with my partner and I and continued to check on us until we finally shot our episode. Joe was our producer and could not have been more professional! They had make up on site and lunch was provided for those who were there 5+ hrs. Standing Room Only is a very professional and organized production company. The people all love what they do, and their willingness to be nice and repeat things that I'm sure they say hundreds of times a day, shows me that they have their operations dialed in.
