This meadery is truly something special -- small, family-owned, and absolutely overflowing with creativity and passion. Every bottle feels like it's crafted with care, and you can really taste the difference. The flavors are unique and unexpected -- from bright, fruity blends to rich, spiced varieties, there's something for every palate. What makes it stand out most is the personal touch -- you can tell the family behind it really loves what they do. The tasting experience feels warm and welcoming, not corporate or rushed. Whether you're new to mead or already a fan, you'll find yourself impressed (and probably leaving with more bottles than you planned). If you're looking to support local craft makers and discover something truly different, this meadery is a must-visit. Their creativity and quality shine through in every sip! read more

My fiance and I came here on a recent weekend because...I love mead! So it's exciting to see more meaderies around. The cocktail bar (the Honeybee Tiki Bar) is suitably tiki-themed, and you can get either mead-laced tiki drinks, or drinks from their tasting menu. I got a 1 oz pour of "Still Dreamin'" melomel made with orange blossom honey, orange zest and vanilla, as well as the 5 oz. "Tangerine Dream" session mead, which was lightly carbonated (tasted like a dreamsicle float, as opposed to the classic style of mead which is more viscous and not unlike a liqueur in texture). Both were very tasty, and this was a nice way to try different styles. My fiance had a mocktail with pineapple and passion fruit that still fit into the tiki vibe. Our server was attentive enough to be helpful but in the background enough to not be pestering us; good balance. While they don't serve food themselves, watch their social media for the rotation of visiting restaurants; we had amazing duck fat buffalo wings and sweet potato fries from Dak Dak Wings in Villa Park! Overall, mead doesn't just have to be at the Renaissance faire! Check out Standard Meadery's creative offerings soon. read more

Cute place with reasonable prices. I used to think all meads were alike. This place changed my mind. Very flavorful options with lower alcohol content which is nice. They offer 1 Oz pours of their still meads or 5/10 Oz pours of their session meads. My favorite was the slimer which I opted to take home. Inside is tiny. Not many seats available at the bar and there were 2 large groups occupying most of the seating on my day of visit. Staff was friendly. Some parking out front. read more

The obvious thing was why don't they put their logos on everything (e.g., coasters)? Sticking with the 5 stars, I recommend this place. I never had mead before, delicious. I had (5 oz each): Both Pina coladas One shot Passion fruit lemonade The place is small and has limited seating. There were 2 large groups that used 50% of the tables, and it got pretty loud. The vibe is modern and hip, and not dull and boring. There's about 20 people here, and the average age had to be 25-30. Parking is plentiful, and the bartenders will come to your table when you're ready to order. Also, there are no food entrees, but they let you order in. read more

I saw this Meadery on Yelp. So, I decide to stop in today and check out the menu. This place is Everything. I walked inside and instantly felt a good vibe. The energy itself was a plus for me. Gosh. I forgot the young ladies name. I think it was Karen. She was awesome. I told her to surprise me with two of the best flavored meads. The Symbiosis Pina Colada and Standard Strawberry Mead was so good. Nice colorful bold wall artwork. Good Meads and enjoyable music. O yes, I will be coming back. If your ever in Villa Park IL. I recommend you to stop by and enjoy a few meads. You won't be disappointed read more

Went to Standard Meadery with a group of friends. Located off the Prairie Path, this spot has indoor and outdoor seating. The menu offers homemade mead on tap and a small food menu. In addition, they have a tiki cocktail menu which also has happy hour specials of $2 off drinks and snacks. We tried The Honey Bee, Ernesto, and Lemonade Was A Popular Drink on top of a glass of mead/chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and locally sourced (three options of spices). All were delicious and had great flavor; this was the perfect summer Saturday spot! read more

I've had Tej before, which is pretty similar. But never mead and decided to check out Standard with a buddy. I'm usually not a big fan of sweeter beverages on hot days, but the mead here was actually really refreshing. They're well balanced with sweetness and citrus, blackberry or other astringent flavors so you don't just get a bunch of sugary syrup. The drinks were delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. We came later on a Sunday and they were closing earlier than I realized, so I didn't get to stay as long as I'd hoped. But I will be back! read more

This place is really cute, in my home-town, and has tiki drinks. What more could I want? We came in on Sunday around 1 to check this place out, knowing I've never had mead but also mostly wanting to check out the tiki drinks. The bar is a small tasting room with just a few tables and a small bar. We were easily able to find a table at this time and the bar remained mostly empty during the time we were there. We thought their drinks were delicious and super cute. Among the things we tasted between two of us were the mead thai, painkiller, painkiller with milk, and a mai thai. Now on to me being picky. Service was just honestly terrible. I was there for almost 2 hours and most likely would have had 1 or 2 more drinks (wasn't driving) if I had stayed that long and my server was attentive. It took us almost 40 minutes just to get our check. The waiters and waitresses were mostly just sitting behind the bar talking to each other. I think I would definitely try this place again, based on reviews I would again go during an off time, and just hope for better service! read more

Standard Meadery - Interior with a shot of a few drinks. Absolutely wonderful ambience and tasty drinks - Wineries Near Me - Villa Park, Illinois

A fantastic little space with equally fantastic mead! We aren't huge mead drinkers by trade, but the beertender at Afterthought Brewing recommended this place to us. After a short drive, we arrived at Standard Meadery and immediately ordered a bunch of tasters of their mead. We were absolutely blown away by their slush-style mead, in particular the Coconut Creamsicle and Pina Colada ones. To be fair, even the quote-unquote "bad" ones were still really good! Not to mention, they were playing some of my favorite jams so my tipsy ass was bopping and sipping the entire time. Pricing was fair and service was great. Do yourself a favor and visit! read more

I'm not a mead person, or I wasn't til I came here. My wife and I are both beer lovers, but Standard's session meads are so delicious, that even a beer guy can enjoy them. Seriously good stuff, and friendly knowledgeable staff. Their regular meads are great too! read more

I've only recently gotten into mead, but in my limited time, I've come to recognized Standard as some of the best mead you can get around Chicago. Their taproom is on the smaller side, but their beautiful bar and windows allow lots of natural lights. They've got a mix of your typical high ABV meads served in 1 ounce pours and the session meads that are on the sweeter side. There are also cocktails that look delicious! The staff are friendly and very helpful. The only downside is the music is...a choice. It's usually super loud and blaring. But, that aside, a great place to try out mead if your haven't yet. read more

I brought my daughter with me to pick up some sessions my wife bought me. While waiting we decided I'd try a Mead and a session (mostly my decision while she had a Topo Chico). I tasted the PB&J session and Over My Head session. Both sessions were phenomenal. Couldn't recommend one over the other. They're that good. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good Meadary. read more

Great meads, cool little spot. Friendly staff, nice place to stop for a few quick drinks. I wouldn't plan on coming with a big group, smaller the better. Nice patio in warmer months, interior has cool art and decor. A regular stop for me monthly. Always have a consistent rotation of mead and beer. read more

They don't know how to handle being busy. Nothing says check in or there is a wait list. The waitresses even said they didn't know what was going on. It's a simple fix by putting up a sign saying check in. If you want to go, go when you know they are slow! I love the drinks but the attitude by mgmt/owners is not worth it. Simple direction would make the waiting experience worth it! read more

Quaint brewery. Friendly staff were great at explaining the menu and brewing process. Tommy made suggestions that were "out of this world GOOD!" We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend this local gem. Whenever possible, we'll be back!!! read more

Nice place. Would definitely recommend! The mead was delicious! Used a Groupon that was so useful.

Some of the meads were great but the music was atrocious. If you like listening to lyrics 'shoot the bitches head off' from Run the Jewels it might be your spot. Just not mine. Meads would get a 4 star rating but had to take one away for the blaring rap music read more

Here frequently considering it is a 20 mile drive. This place could sell people drinks they never knew they wanted. This is a go to for people who don't like alcohol or do. Great for gatherings. read more

Honestly wasn't familiar with mead and or the process of it. A friend suggested I try this place and he was 1000% correct. All the drinks are on point. Great little neighborhood spot to mingle as well. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great patio area for outdoor seating as well. Definitely worth checking out read more

I didn't know how much I enjoyed mead until I was invited to drink here. Highly recommended!

Fantastic mead & cocktails. Small taproom so keep that in mind if you visit during peak hours.

First time here and can't believe I haven't visited previously. The meads are simply delicious. Both the session meads (lower alcohol) and the still meads (higher). I'd recommend the Dreamsicle (session), the Departure and the 41414 (both stills). The staff was super friendly and personable. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be making return trips here. Cheers! read more
