Brindley as a company is terrible. I left feedback (no response), and one star reviews on their…read morewebsite and Facebook which they didn't post. Now posting on Yelp and Google. I don't recommend ever working with them. They are a shady company. We stayed at Frosty Shores in the 4x4 section of Corolla. Check-in & Cleanliness - Check-in was 4:00 PM. When our group arrived at 4:45, the house had not been cleaned from the prior week. I called the property manager, and the cleaners (a father and son) arrived shortly after -- asking us not to mention to the manager that they were late. We had already called. The initial clean was inadequate. The next day we visited the property manager's office (they had asked the lease signer to come in to verify occupancy during beach week) and used that opportunity to report what we had found: broken glass on top of the refrigerator, dirty floors, a master bath drain that wouldn't drain, and a ripped screen on the master bath sliding door upstairs. The property manager sent someone to fix the drain that day and took the screen for repair -- it was returned four days later. As the week went on, we continued to notice issues: sheets that didn't feel clean, a stain on a bedding cover, a suitcase stand with two legs unscrewed, and a refrigerator door shelf that fell and broke when we loaded drinks onto it. The cleaners returned (father, son, and mother) and asked what the problem was. When we explained, the son pushed back, insisting they had cleaned. They did acknowledge they don't clean the foyer because "people track in dirt," don't pick up trash outside the house, and don't do deep cleans. They cleaned for about 15 minutes. The broken glass on top of the refrigerator was never removed. The house continued to feel dirty and dusty throughout the stay, which was uncomfortable for several adults and kids alike. Following up with Brindley afterwards and asked for a discount due to the cleaning issue and they said it is in their lease that they don't reimburse for cleaning issues. What a disappointment. They don't stand by their agreements in the lease (to provide a clean environment) and yet hold firm when making it right with the customer. Listing Misrepresentation - The listing photos do not reflect the current state of the property. The family room and den furniture shown in the photos was different from what was actually there. There was no foosball table and no second refrigerator as pictured. The listing should be updated to accurately represent what guests will find. Beyond the photos, the house felt run down. None of the upstairs windows had screens, making it impossible to open them for a cross breeze. Outdoor cushions on the lower deck were left stacked on top of an exterior cabinet rather than stored inside it -- they had visible holes, rips, and were dingy. They should be repaired, cleaned, and stored in the cabinet, or replaced. Leaving them in plain sight reinforced the overall sense of neglect. Bottom Line - Given the price and the listing photos, my expectations were significantly higher than what we experienced. The listing photos need to be updated to accurately reflect the house. The property needs a thorough deep clean and general freshening. And the nightly rate should reflect the actual current condition of the home.

Loved having the pool and hot tub in the back yard with the privacy fence. We did have trouble getting the showers to work as we had never encountered this type before but we called and the owner called us back and walked us through it. We felt super silly but glad to have some help. The house is only a 5 or so minute walk to the beach which was great! They also provide some beach chairs and sand toys to take to the beach and bring back. We did bring our own pool floats though. The only think is I wish the pool were bigger.

We sat and sweated in 90 degree temperatures. The water purification system stopped working on Tuesday, no drinkable water and no ice could be made. The wash machine backed up in one of the shower stalls. One of the bedroom ceilings leaked when it rained. My son stepped on a rusty nail at the pool from the deteriorating wood shed. We contacted the company as soon as the issues arose and the only response was a thank you, we'll put in a service ticket. A gentleman did stop by Friday to ask about the leak. He asked if that is all we needed so I caught him up on all the issues and he was shocked. He said the ac repairman had been in the area all week and his buddy took care of the water system and he was sure they weren't aware of the problems. I have the texts to the company on my phone. I assume he said something to the company so they text and said they weren't aware of the issues, so I took a screenshot of the texts and sent them.... no response! No apology! No offer to make things right! No customer service! Please stay away from this company and give your hard earned money to a company that appreciates your business!

We were so very excited to stay at this home again after being married here in 2007 and staying two times previously. Unfortunately, within a couple hours of arrival, the house caught on fire. One outlet went up in flames, another burned inside the wall. We called the fire department and also the rental agency. Thankfully the fire department was easier to get a hold of - I kept getting punted to voicemail for Sun until about an hour later they closed and I was able to go through to their emergency line. LONG story short: Sun did send out an electrician that night but were kind of wishy washy if they were going to. Thank god they did bc the electrician found another outlet that had obviously been on fire upstairs. The downstairs outlet went up in flames when (unknown to those of us outside cleaning/watching kids in pool) one of the people staying there noticed power was out in half the house and flipped the breaker that was tripped which is when the fire started. What's scary is that the breaker didn't trip again - we had to manually turn it back off. It never tripped for the one upstairs. Needless to say, we all slept with one eye open that week after this. Over the week there were numerous safety concerns: a board not nailed down on the stairs to the beach that flipped up and nearly dumped someone about 10' down to the beach, quite a few wasp nests, a defective smoke alarm that didn't stop chirping despite batteries being changed, tripped GFI outlets outside that weren't replaced/addressed, loose outlets that caused the lights to flicker/surge, switches that were glitchy due to water leaking on them from the front window... it's so much that I literally forget everything that was wrong. Then there was just the annoying/cosmetic things like fire ants in the dining room, a toilet turned off, two water bubbles in the ceiling causing paint to flake off in one room, and the house was definitely not cleaned before we arrived (the kitchen was sticky everywhere, towels left in the washer, floor sandy and dirty etc)., most of the rooms didn't have screens for the windows and some of the rooms were missing screens for the sliders, a few of the sliders were impossible to open... again, I could go on but you get the gist. Sun did send maintenance out to fix most of the problems but it did impact our trip constantly having to make literal lists of all the issues and be waiting at the house to walk them through what was wrong because often they didn't have an idea of what the problem of the day was. This was beyond the normal "tired" home at the end of the season or high expectations not being met. I've been coming to the OBX for 40 years and this home in particular for 20. I know that oceanfront homes especially get worn quickly, that at the end of the season things are a bit beat up and that sometimes stuff is sticky. In my 40 years of renting I've NEVER had to call a realty company for anything - this is not how I normally roll. If the house is dirty, I clean it. If things are missing I can live without, I ignore it. You can't ignore safety issues like this, especially when people recently died in a fire in the OBX. We were told we couldn't be moved which we understood due to the lack of inventory but I think it's fair that we get some partial refund but there's been silence on that end. If you are looking to rent Tequila Sunrise in Whalehead Beach, I would ask for current photos before making the booking. It pains me to warn others but what we encountered was beyond cosmetic issues.

UPDATE: I tried to handle this matter privately but was unsuccessful. Sun Realty has since removed my negative feedback shared on their website listing and on Facebook. They should really be investigated by the Better Business Bureau or whatever association oversees realtors in North Carolina for their blatant inaccuracies in their online listings and negligence on property maintenance. At first, everything appeared to be great, but COCKROACHES and other serious issues became apparent: - Ants were everywhere. On the counters, in the beds, on the floors. We were picking them off of us the entire week and we had to throw out much of our food despite how tightly we tied the bags. - COCKROACHES. And no...they weren't water bugs. We saw at least 1 cockroach on each floor. This is completely unacceptable. - Broken light on the 2nd level deck and there were other various lights that did not turn on. - Broken chairs were present on the deck, in the kitchen, and in the living room. - Disgusting mold on the curtain in the top floor shower. - The 1st floor toilet did not work at all. It flushed...but doesn't drained. We spent plenty of time trying to plunge it to no avail. - Kitchen corner cabinet hinge is broken. Other cabinets at paint chipping off. - Not sure what was going on with the "deck" around the pool. There was a layer of fabric over what appears to be green putting green material that a couple people almost tripped over. - Hammock chain was almost rusted through. For the money we paid for the house...we expected more. At the very least, we expected not to have to consistently kill ANTS AND COCKROACHES. Even worse...Sun Realty was dismissive after I called on our second day there and never sent anyone out to fix the situation. After emailing the owner and Sun Realty there was not even an apology offered.

Also, the pool skimmer was torn, making it difficult to skim the pool every morning. All of the bed linens had to be washed to eliminate the mildew odor. We could not contact Paramount as the office was closed for the day. The following morning (7/14), we called Paramount and left a message. Michelle and Channing arrived shortly after that. We immediately asked if we could be moved to another property and Michelle said she would see what she could do and get back to us. Seven hours later we were informed that nothing was available. Channing repaired the dangling light fixture, sprayed air freshener, and thoroughly cleaned the register covers. We informed him that the refrigerator was not cold so he adjusted the setting and said to be patient. He also set both thermostats to 68 degrees - saying this would help with the smell. Half the day was lost addressing these issues. The next day, 7/15, the refrigerator was still warm. Channing came out and determined that the fridge was indeed bad. The owner had to be informed so a new refrigerator could be purchased and delivered. In the meantime, we were promised a "loaner" fridge would be delivered until the new one arrived. This meant transferring all perishable food to our coolers. Extremely inconvenient! While we at the beach, the loaner fridge was delivered and set up outside, in front of the garage! Without our knowledge or consent, our food was transferred to the fridge. I guess we were expected to go outside when we needed something from the fridge. Later in the afternoon, the fridge was moved to the lower-level game room area - again, up and down the steps to retrieve items from the fridge. Tuesday, 7/16, pest control and two housekeeping women came and performed their tasks that should have been done PRIOR to our arrival. 7/17 was somewhat uneventful although the smell had returned and at 68 degrees we were freezing, especially in the lower level of the house. We had to purchase blankets because it was so cold at night and the supplied thin quilts did not provide adequate warmth. Still no new refrigerator in the kitchen. With the thermostats set so low to "reduce the smell", the kids got sick, and one of the adults' asthma flared up. Not to mention that the stress my wife experienced caused her autoimmune disease to flare up. On Thursday, 7/18, we were informed that the new refrigerator would be delivered. Delivery men and Paramount maintenance guy removed the old refrigerator and replaced it with the new one. While this was being done, we were reiterating all the issues we had experienced to the maintenance guy. His sarcastic response was "what would you like me to do about it?" My wife and I decided to return home the next day (7/19); we'd had enough. The unfortunate truth is that had someone taken the extra hour or two to thoroughly inspect the home, many of the issues would have been detected and corrected. Afterall, we were informed the house was ready at 2:00 PM - two hours before the regular check-in time. Shame on you. To make matters worse, no mention of compensation was offered from either Paramount Destinations or the owner. I texted Michelle, asking for contact information to register our concerns but she never responded. I also called the office when we arrived home and was told there was really no one I could talk to; just complete this survey. Your website touts Paramount Destinations as "Luxury Vacation Rentals at The Currituck Club" - this is laughable. This was our fourth visit to a Paramount Destinations in the Currituck Club and sadly, will likely be the last.

We stayed at Beyond Paradise on the 4x4 beach. The house was really well equipped..tons of dishes, utensils, boogie boards, pool toys..you name it, it was there. Everything was in working condition. Some folks have complained that the houses are in bad shape, honestly we did not find this to be the case. The beds were not the most comfortable, but we were so exhausted every night it didnt matter. The pool is small, which was perfect for us because we have small kids. The staff at Karichele was really helpful, when we checked in they spent a bunch of time talking to us and giving us advice on beach driving. Everytime we needed something (where to park in town, where to get jumper cables, etc) they were super friendly and helpful. To know if you stay at the 4x4 beach...there is a lot of traffic on the beach, the closer you get to the Virginia line the less traffic there is...we spent one day at the border fence and had very little traffic. We saw dolphins almost every day and horses everywhere. Let the air out of your tires before you hit the beach, saw tons of people stuck...AWD will not work..watch the videos at Twiddy and Company before you go. This was the most fabulous and relaxing vacation..and we had six kids with us. I would recommend Karichele, 4x4 beach and Beyond Paradise to anyone1

We drove up to the front of the house, the once white painted rails had chipped and faded to a dismal gray. The rails going up the steep steps were falling down and there was trash in the front yard that no one bothered to pick up. All the beach chairs were broken or rusted so badly they would not open. The inside was just as bad, bathtubs would not drain so they all had a hair, sand and soap scum ring. Bathroom floors were filthy with hair and sand, rugs and shower curtains had not been washed since I can't imagine when, let's move on to the kitchen --pots and pans had food caked on them and again floor was filthy. Rancid oil dated from 2002 was left in cabinet. Dining room table had some kind of film on it so that if you rested your arms on the table you stuck there, Coffee table leg was broken off and just stuck under table to make it look ok. TV remotes and advertised X-Box were not working. Sliding glass door between living room and sun room would not close which caused the air-conditioner to run constantly and not be able to keep living area cool. Average temp. in afternoon was 85. All furniture was stained and backing was falling off love seat. When I called the realty company to let them know this was less then satisfactory, they sent a young lady with multiple tatoos and piercings over face, ears and lips to remedy problems. Needless to say, I opted to clean the place myself, and spent the first 2 days of our week long vacation cleaning just so we could tolerate being there. This vacation was much anticipated, and we saved our money for a long time to be able to go. Driving up to this broken down house after spending close to $5,000.00 for the place was devastating. It looked NOTHING like the pictures on the internet!!!!!!!! I can not imagine how this realty company can in good conscience leave those deceiving photos on-line. Obviously they do not care !!!!!! well I hope this review will keep another family from experiencing the dismay that we felt when we arrived at our almost paradise.

A Stark Contrast to Their Own Promises !!…read more My parents rented this property for our long-awaited family reunion -- 14 of us, including relatives who flew in from Hawaii. We were excited to spend the week together in what looked like a beautiful and spacious home, but the experience was unfortunately full of red flags -- from safety concerns to management's dismissive response. Serious Safety & Cleanliness Concerns: * The deck had multiple exposed nails, which caused injuries -- including a cut foot. * The pool gate slammed shut with extreme force. It actually struck my young niece, leaving her hurt and shaken. * The outdoor bathroom was dirty and unusable from the start. * There were visible roaches in the home when we arrived. * The outdoor shower, which was advertised as a feature, was filthy and completely unusable. Disruptive Conditions That Weren't Disclosed: * Construction was happening on both sides of the house all week, bringing loud noise and disruption every day. * We were never informed about this in advance, even though the reservation had been made months prior. Unacceptable Response from Management: When we shared these issues, the president of the management company responded with zero accountability. Rather than showing any concern, he told us we should've reported safety hazards like protruding nails during our vacation. After we left, their technician confirmed that eight nails needed to be repaired -- validating our concerns. Instead of offering any resolution, the president accused us of "extortion tactics," which was insulting and unprofessional considering the legitimate issues we raised. A Stark Contrast to Their Own Promises: What made it even more frustrating is how the company promotes itself. Their website claims: "Experience the Shoreline Difference and see why we are rated #1 in Guest Satisfaction! As our guest, you are our family and will be treated to the best in hospitality!" That was far from our experience. We were treated more like an inconvenience than "family," and safety clearly wasn't a priority. Bottom Line: For over $6,500, we expected a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. What we got was a property with hazards, misrepresented amenities, and a management team unwilling to take responsibility. I would not recommend this rental -- or this company -- to anyone looking for a reliable or professional vacation experience.
