Oh man, how I really wanted to love this place! It is bright, cheery and clean when you walk in and the hostess was amazing. But that's about where the goodness stops. The food is just bad. The other yelp reviews said the same thing and I thought I might be different but sure enough it was absolutely horrible. The pancakes were dry and hard. My biscuits and gravy were cold and my husband got a croissant sandwich which had plenty of goodness potential but was just bland and he didn't even finish it. This place could do so much more if they could just lock in their kitchen. Hope they take reviews seriously and change their ways!

Management is completely indifferent to the quality of their restaurant. I've been 3 times; the first two times underperformed Waffle House, and the third I was served RANCID hash-browns cooked in black oil. I'm no critic normally, but Staks is as close as I'd ever to paying for a stomach ache.

Alrighty! This is a hard one!!! lol I wanted this to be a great review. I should have paid attention to Yelp reviews instead of google's. Lol The atmosphere is great! Bright, pretty and fun, energetic! The staff were all nice and helpful. Everything moved quickly and food was out fast, like as fast as my coffee (honey vanilla latte) which was delightful!!!! Soooooo yummy! I ordered the Pancake stuffed beignets and added on 2 eggs over medium. My hubby had the breakfast croissant sandwich with chicken sausage, hash-browns and added a single banana pudding pancake. He had sweet tea which was the best we have tasted in quite some time. My exact reaction was, "oh! It tastes clean!" I don't like when the tea urn isn't clean and makes the tea taste off! This was fabulous!!! For the negatives, unfortunately it's the food. My eggs weren't over medium, as I had runny whites. I do not like runny whites at all and usually I can't eat the eggs. I did eat them. It wasn't too much, but still disappointing. I'll continue my search for the perfect over-medium eggs. lol The pancake beignets weren't stuffed at all! They had a tiny amount of cream coming out the top of them but hardly enough to taste. I kept searching the insides of them to find the goodness. It wasn't there, sadly and they were a little overcooked. Very dense and dry, unlike real beignets. I get it, they are pancakes, but still! My hubby thought I somehow ordered hush puppies lol. The glaze was good! The hubs food: the sandwich was good but it was brought out so fast that the cheese was not melted at all. The hash browns were warmed not cooked, and the chicken sausage.........was NOT breakfast chicken sausage. It's more like your brat type chicken sausage. They should really cut it in half and grill both sides, rather than throwing 2 huge, long, round chunks in the sandwich. Lol The croissant and very small amount of eggs were good tho. The chicken sausage tried to steal the show, but unfortunately it failed and wasn't even eaten. It felt like their concern was getting the food out fast, rather than it being cooked and hot. His banana pudding pancake was good. He liked it and said it tasted just like banana pudding. The banana pudding cream was actually too sweet for me and had a fake banana flavor, but I didn't eat it, just tasted. Anyway, we won't go back. Definitely wasn't worth the $40+ we paid.

Wow! I was totally going to be OVER this place, because they messed up my STUFFED French Toast order 3x (it takes a LOT for me to complain too), but when Hailey, the manager came up to check on me and that my order was rectified, that turned it all around! She explained that situation, with their cook and how she'd make it up to me, with a gift card! Cheers to great customer service! Also, definitely order the Siracha Candied Bacon!!! #yourewelcome

We came during a baseball series for breakfast and will definitely be back. The food was unreal and it came out in less than 5 minutes. Make sure to get a biscuit! And pancake!

Walk in, have seating assigned, order at the register, sit, and food is delivered. Probably better for breakfast, we stopped in for lunch. The chicken breast was more than ample and well cooked. Something about it had a strong taste of garlic, which was too much for me (unusual). The cheesy tots were excellent. Fruit salad was okay, but they tried to use too much of the pineapple and got some of the inedible center in there.

This a pretty cool breakfast/brunch spot in downtown Auburn. It's right down the street from Toomer's Pharmacy. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The portions are pretty big. The food was good. I would have taken a pic of my son's breakfast bowl, but he ate it so fast. My small stack was not so small. My husband had the grits. They were delicious!

Staks is conveniently located right beside Auburn's campus and walking distance from hotels like The Hotel at Auburn. The menu has so many breakfast options with their signature pancakes being the highlight. Interestingly, everyone around me were ordering the protein stacks. They also have some fun breakfast items for kids like Oreo beignet bites. The biscuits and gravy were just okay and the sausage patties were spicy (which I liked), but overall, the food is just average for the price.

I've been eating here for at least 15 years, and it never fails to provide delicious food. When I'm…read moreback in the area, I always try to stop by. A friend & I got to drop in for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The decor hasn't changed much - it's still comfortable & clean. There's free parking in the front & sides of the building. Love: service (kind, helpful); lobster egg rolls (crispy, delicious filling); turkey wrap (soft lavosh bread, dip in honey mustard & tzatziki); sweet potato chips (best in the restaurant game); toffee cake (moist, added praline pecans for crunch)

Once again it was our annual LSU women's basketball game pilgrimage so Gary, Garrett and I piled…read moreinto Paul's truck and we headed down to Auburn on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Garrett suggested Amsterdam for lunch. Located near the Auburn campus, Amsterdam is one of more well known eateries off campus. Students may not have eaten at Amsterdam, but most can point you in the right direction. I've been tricked by appearances before but Amsterdam is in a category of its own. There's a front and a back part of the building. But I didn't know that until we were led to our table in the back. The front part is a typical "smallish" restaurant with tight booths and tables. The decorations of impressionist painters adorn the walls giving the front dining room a warm inviting feel. When we were led to our table, I thought I was being led to the restrooms. We actually went past the restrooms down a small flight of stairs and into another large room. This beautiful back room was oozing the "hidden wine cellar" vibe throughout. There were tables and chairs in the center with smaller tables and chairs lining one wall and booths on another. Then there's a large full service bar lining the 3rd wall and a workstation on the 4th wall. The ceiling with hanging panels of wood moved the light beautifully and impressed me. There was also a large floor to ceiling wine rack next to our 4 top. Gary tried their Omelet. Three eggs served with conecuh sausage, bacon, onions, peppers, cheddar cheese, and potatoes. With the sourdough toast, the plating was immaculate. I didn't get to taste it, but Gary didn't have any deiicions/ Garrett opted for their Brunch special: Apple & Pecan Freeman toast. When it arrived to our table, we immediately noticed the large slices of French toast. As promised, the French toast was topped with slices of peaches and apples and butter brown sugar with white powder sugar as well. Again I didn't get to taste, but I savored it with my eye. Paul and I tried the Amsterdam Burger. He got some fries as his side, but I upgraded my side to a beautifully plated side salad. With the added fried egg, my patty was grilled to a perfect medium with just a hint of pink. Stacked with it was some lettuce, caramelized onions, applewood bacon, spicy pickles, tomato and their traditional burger sauce all squeezed together between 2 bun halves, it has to be stabbed with a long food pick to hold it together. It was juicy, tasty and just Yom Yom Yom Yom. Our server was attentive and checked on us frequently. Other notable menu items include fried brussels, lobster egg rolls, rum salmon, breakfast croissant, snickerdoodle pancakes, steak & eggs, egg white omelet and shrimp & grits. I was told their Crab Cake & Avocado is to die for. Meal prices are on the high end but Amsterdam understands how to elevate Southern comfort food.
