So refreshing and tasty, with a splash of nostalgia and history. Service is great friendly and fast. Love all the flavor options, I don't remember as many when I went to AU (I still ended up sticking with the strawberry but there were at least 20 so I'll have to branch out and try Kiwi or something). Love that they have the 2go bottled option so got my regular medium strawberry with the best ice (the little pellets) and 2 bottles 2go. Flying back to DC I just freeze the night before and put in my checked luggage to have a taste of Auburn at home. This place is super iconic and I was excited to try the lemonade but was unfortunately disappointed. It has a very bitter flavor and not the sweet, fair-style lemonade I expected. This review is for the lemonade only. I was in town visiting a friend and he said I HAD TO HAVE THIS LEMONADE. It appears they've been around for quite some time, and were a former drugstore. For $4.75 I ordered the large strawberry lemonade. It tasted fresh and was very tart. I prefer my lemonade sweeter, but it was pretty darn good. Based on all the Auburn merchandise in here, this place should receive a zero star for worst place ever! Haha That's only because I am a Bama fan. The employees are better people than me as they didn't hold wearing a Bama hat against me. But this place is an excellent place for ice cream. They serve Mayfield. I ordered a chocolate shake and it was made out of chocolate ice cream. Do not forget about the lemonade! This is a really cool place and must visit on any trip to Auburn. When you walk in, in it looks like a 1950s soda shop with a ton of AU T-shirts and souvenirs. My family today just got lemonades but the ice cream looked good and I've heard the food is good too. The inside was air conditioned and felt great to step inside and beat the heat while enjoying a nice lemonade. I finally got to visit Toomers Drugs after hearing so much about it. Being a Gump, I never had a natural tendency to wander into Auburn, especially on a football Saturday. Traveling with a group of friends to support Samford in their efforts, we explored the campus and town after the game and found this iconic spot. Naturally, we joined the line snaking out of the drugstore. The line was mainly for the lemonade, though they served ice cream too. We got large lemonades, and I learned quickly the hype was legit! This is the best lemonade I've had, very tart yet super sweet. I would recommend only getting the large if you're fully committed to embracing the tartness and didn't have too much at the game. I'll personally get a regular size next time. The line moved reasonably well for its length. I applaud the staff for the being so accompanying and not hostile to us in Samford gear. While on our tour of Auburn we were told that a trip to the university is not complete without a trip to Toomers for lemonade. I'm not going to lie I was a bit skeptical but it was soooooo worth the stop! The lemonade was the perfect mixture of sweet and tangy! I got the original lemonade flavor. My fiancé was brave and decided to try the vanilla and my stepson got blue raspberry. While plain old lemonade is my favorite all the flavors were incredibly! So good in fact that we stopped on our way to the airport to to grab just one more. This time we got original, strawberry and raspberry! A must stop while in Auburn! read more

Cute country place with lots of AU souvenirs. The customer service was very good and it seems to be a crowd favorite. I went there just for the lemonade. The lemon juice isn't all fresh squeezed. I taste the preserved kind in there. And the flavors are syrups. With so many farms around I expected real fruit. I even heard a lady behind me exclaim that there's no such thing as a blue raspberry! An Auburn tradition for over a century. A visit to downtown Auburn would not be complete without a visit to Toomers Drugs. After first rolling into town and hearing about their legendary fresh squeezed lemonade and my son being such a lemonade connoisseur this was a must try. Located in downtown Auburn just off the AU campus and across from the new Samford park under construction. The corner is actually named Toomers Corner after founder Sheldon Toomer opened his drug store with his Father n' Law. Sheldon, or Shel as he was know was a halfback on the very first Auburn Football team and to this day the football team supports the tiny drug store after home games. As a matter of fact the lemonade is sold at the stadium. If you visit on weekends they city waives the meter fees, as with after 5 PM on weekdays. I visited Toomers several times and never had issue with locating parking close to the store. The exterior of Toomers reminds me of simpler days when families walked downtown and enjoyed window shopping and then would grab a malt, or shake. The building most likely looks close to how it did in the early 1890's. Large windows and a flat medal awning with steel post is a fixture at Toomers Corner. Of course the signature bold Toomer name that has adorned this area since 1896. Customers enter through glass double doors and quickly see the long counter. The counter is nothing special and unsure if they had something more ornate at one time. The original while tile floors are a beautiful reminder of the history of this nostalgic building. Of course the pride of AU shows as Auburn University merchandise is proudly old here. I will say on most everything that I saw they were priced higher than local bookstores.I found the store to be clean and the eating area at the bar spotless. The history of the Toomer family hang behind the bar with large black and white photos that are really neat. On several visits I had the lemonade which is listed in the top 100 things to try in AL. The small is served in a glass mug, the large in a styrofoam. The taste of Toomers Lemonade is like nothing I have ever had. It is by far the sweetest that I have ever had for sure. So... if you prefer your lemonade with a strong sweet taste then this will be to your liking. They also sell it in a plastic bottles and gallon jugs out of a cooler located by checkout. This lemonade is made in house. I witnessed this process of the empty bottles on a tray and the secret mixture being poured through a funnel. Also the grilled cheese with side of chips according to my son was really good. He ate every bite. I had a cookie dough shake which had large balls of cookie dough that was scrumptious. You can get a small, or large and I found the small to be adequate for me. On every visit I found the staff to be cheery and helpful. It was nice to set at the bar and watch the hustling employees serve both tourist and loyal customers. All of the staff are young energetic Men and Women with some being AU students. If your visiting Auburn stop by this quaint old fashioned drug store and take in the nostalgic atmosphere. I think once you sip on famous Toomers Lemonade you will understand why they are the talk of the town. read more

Not the best bc the best is in ATL where we're from but i also ordered the tuna melt which they don't have anymore. Came here for the original lemonade when I first moved to Auburn, and it was great! I came back with my roommates about a week ago for food and loved it! I didn't realize they had so many options for so cheap! Also tried the raspberry lemonade my friend ordered, and it was amazing! I just had the ice cream sandwich, which was two scoops of cold ice cream of one's choice (I chose vanilla) between two halves of a huge, warm cookie. It was so good and almost too much for me to finish! I'll definitely be back for their sandwich combos. They come with chips, a banana, or a big cookie - and the prices are soo good! When one thinks of Toomers Drugs it brings to mind the quintessential things of Auburn. Football and Lemonade. As always the smell of lemons hits you as soon as you enter, as they make every lemonade fresh. If you've never been I'd recommend the original lemonade either over ice or frozen. The ice cream is also good, and you can get it either in a cup or cone or turned into a milkshake. If you're looking for nice Auburn shirts or hats they've got plenty to choose from (unless you're looking for a specific sport). Go during the week during football season to avoid very long lines, but even if you feel like waiting in line the wait won't be for long. The staff keeps the line moving and are always helpful. If you do have any problems with your order (which I never have) let them know and they'll be glad to remake it for you. War Eagle! read more
