We found this place by accident on a trip. What a hidden gem. All food is made from scratch. We Had the sausage mushroom penne with a light cream sauce..... an excellent authentic Greek salad (no lettuce) ... I had the chick pea /zucchini soup (it was out of this world!! We stopped in here while at the 127 yard sale. The whole experience was odd but the food was really good. When we arrived, we could see only like 3 tables filled yet they almost turned us away because we told them we didn't have reservations. The server then said he could seat us but they only have one person preparing the food (not sure if that is always the case here). We sat down and ordered a pizza and then the server tells us it will be 30+ mins because they are down from 4 to 2 pizza ovens. So we wait. While we wait, I hear another server tell a nearby table they are down to only 1 oven and it would be even longer of a wait for them. The ambiance and service just felt off and weird, but there were very limited options in the area and we were hungry. The staff were sort of standoffish. Our pizza arrived and I was a bit worried but it turned out to be really good. The server told us they make the crust and things in house. That was a pleasant surprise. The inside is nice and history interesting. The starter salad had a very unique taste that I enjoyed a lot. The pasta was decent, nothing particularly interesting about it. I wouldn't order it again. I'm visiting crossville from Sonoma county and we are spoiled there with delicious food so coming to a town like crossville where everything is over salted and loaded with lard, Stagecoach Place was right up there with food from back home. The Stagecoach Place Café (strange name for an Italian restaurant) was recommended by a friend. In preparation, I read a few reviews, some good, some bad but went into the experience hoping for the best. At first sight, it was an odd structure, appearing to be a residential home clad in vinyl. The outside was cluttered, poorly maintained with a lawn well over a foot in height. This should have been our cue to leave but we were meeting friends. Our foursome were shown to a small room with one table where we immediately noticed an unpleasant smell .. musty .. apparently the home beneath the vinyl was very old. We started with the house salad; a small serving of room temperature, oxidized, lettuce, shredded carrots and purple cabbage dressed in the only option, oil and salt. Two at the table took one bite and pushed it away. My wife and I had the lasagna, which she pronounced "gray" upon arrival. That could also describe it's flavor. I could go on but it all comes down to one thing .. they're cutting corners everywhere .. best exemplified by the garnish; a sliver each of tomato skin and bell pepper. The waitress who was very new and clearly had little training asked how things were and we had to be honest. This apparently, led to first the floor manager, and then the cook who may have also been the owner by the way he raised his voice at us, declaring "everyone raves about" his lasagne. I thought we were in a Monty Python sketch .. surprised he didn't come out waving a cleaver. We did not eat the entré and had them take it off the check but should have left when that pathetic salad arrived. Had we not been with another couple, we would have. The food was just awful yet took forever to arrive, the service was non-professional, the environment Webster would call "fusty". One of our companions requested a box for the half pizza he had not eaten and was told, "we're not allowed to use a box if there are only 4 slices". Math isn't my forte but isn't a half pizza is he same diameter as a whole one. If they're nit picking pizza boxes, I'd say they're just barely hanging on. In summary, not just a bad meal but a truly disturbing experience. read more

Friendly hello as we entered the quaint building . They have a beautiful bar so make sure you take time to admire it. We went for lunch on a whim our first visit. We were seated immediately and decided upon a special that they were having which was. Barrata & prosciutto. Nice presentation and the most flavorful cheese. We each chose a sandwich - hubby sausage and I chose meatball. I can say they were very flavorful served on a wonderful tasting roll. Don't expect a rush on your food as each meal is prepared to order. I must say they are very skimpy on the side pickle, especially charging a buck for a second one. They look like they are cut in 1/8ths. The atmosphere is cozy as it appears to be a home repurposed. Service is friendly. If you're driving on hwy 127 be sure to stop in Wednesday to Saturday. read more

We have always wanted to try this place while visiting but seem to miss it when we come, so the first thing we did this trip was to head there for dinner. I do recommend reservations as they get rather busy and you definitely want a table! Once you enter there is a hostess that seats you in this unusual space which is a converted old stage coach stop. Not much of the decor reflects the history, but it is a fun rambling house that leaves the imagination to you as to its past. We were there on a busy night and had not called in to reserve, so we ended up near the door and the hostess stand in a converted porch area. It was great for people watching but quite cold on this unusually chilly evening. I think that was a mistake for us as everyone was super cold by the end of the meal, but we appreciated getting seated. They also only had two servers so that meant everyone was super busy running back and forth to greet, serve, seat etc Our server though was sweet and was on top of helping us with water and other things quickly (probably because we were easy to spot). The meal is a slow process so don't go expecting it to be fast or quick, but go for the delicious food and conversation! Our appetizer was delicious and light yet full of the flavors of tapenade and tomato. I expected it to be hot but it was a cold appetizer, so just a note as you order clarify which ones are served chilled. It was delicious however and I'd for sure get it again. The meals took awhile to come out (but that was expected) so we chatted and watched the people coming and going. I had a glass of Prosecco which was fun and bubbly and seemed to help pass the time! When our food did arrive it was hot and smelled amazing, and we promptly ate it with gusto. I love, love, love that they have so many vegan options and can substitute and for gluten free as well. It was so nice to go to a restaurant with those choices and not just the usual spaghetti with marinara sauce as my only option. If for no other reason (although there are plenty) go and try this spot out because of their options! Plus the pasta was heavenly! We didn't have room for dessert but plan to go back and try some later this week, as they also have vegan dessert! Yay! If you are in the area definitely check this place out! read more

I went to lunch with friends yesterday. The service was very slow. It took almost an hour to get a panini, a phili steak sandwich and a pasta dish The panini was burnt and very dry. It was sent back and replaced with a very disappointing substitute sandwich. Cheese was not melted and a very meager amount of meat. The pasta dish was an old favorite of mine, thus I knew what to expect, but it did not have the same flavor. Very disappointed in our meal! Will not go back. read more

This was our first visit to Stagecoach Place Cafe. We ordered the special pizza of the day which was chanterelle and Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. It was so tasty! We also had the key lime pie and a peach almond dish for dessert. Both were very good. The restaurant feels very comfortable and was a great first experience. There was also a gentleman in the bar area playing the piano who was very entertaining. It was a nice evening and we will definately be returning soon! read more

We arrived when they opened at 4:30pm and there were only two other customers there. When we tried to order pizza they said that would take over an hour for it to come out because they had so many to-go orders. In addition to our sit down meal, I ordered three take home entrees and asked for the sides to be the soup. When i got home and opened the bags the food was packed in discovered that the three sides were salads instead of soup. which had wilted lettuce by the time i got home. read more

We've been looking at this restaurant for a while now, but it just never worked out to go there. The other day, my wife and I were celebrating a date, and I just decided to go there. Boy!!!!! am I ever glad we did. We were both super impressed with the whole experience. We were seated in a very cozy, private area, and the decore was a beautiful old world, with gorgeous old antique furniture and wood trim. Our hostess was super friendly, the waitress was equally nice, pleasant & helpful. The food came our quickly, and the portions were just perfect. The taste was AWESOME. The bill for the 2 of us was approx $30, and the waitress earned herself a nice tip because of her wonderful work ethic and attention to detail. I highly recommend this restaurant. Tried to eat there this evening(5pm) and were unsuccessful. This is the second time I have tried to enjoy a meal at this restaurant. This afternoon's experience was terrible. After sitting for 30 minutes in an empty restaurant, we were not even able to get cocktails. They were terribly understaffed and the young lady trying to run things had absolutely no clue how to. I attempted to assist her but was met with attitude. We decided that after such a terrible beginning, things wouldn't get better, we left. I will not be likely to recommend this restaurant or bring out of town guests here again. read more

We were looking for a special place to take our daughter and came across Stagecoach Cafe this Sunday. It's unique and charming because the restaurant is in a house. Our server was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. We came for pasta, but ended up also adding a pizza when we learned they had a chicken of the woods mushroom pizza. It was delicious! My daughter decided to get the meatball grinder and shared it. The meatballs were so flavorful and tender and the bread was amazing. We did get our dish of pasta, and enjoyed authentic Carbonara with Guanciale. Another winner. We had such a lovely experience and look forward to returning! read more

Long overdue review for Stagecoach. We came to the Crossville area as a hub for our anniversary hiking trip. Our airbnb actually recommended this place. I called to see if they would allow dogs on their patio as we were traveling with our beagle. They said they would, but they were concerned with potential storms that evening. I asked if we could just come by immediately for an early dinner, and they said they would set the patio up for us! Once we arrived, I went in and they asked if I had just called for the patio seating. Sure enough I had and she directed us to our table, which was a single table set up on it's own under a covered area - had it's own door to the restaurant. Such a sweet and nice set up for us. We ordered the bruschetta to start, a pizza, and two cannoli's to go. The bruschetta is the best we have had! Simply amazing! The pizza and cannoli's were both good, not the best we have had, but still great! With the great food and wonderful service for us (and our dog), I would highly recommend this place if you are in the area. We tried to come back the next night just to take bruschetta to go since we still had left over pizza, and we were told it would be at least a 45 minute to hour wait, which seems absurd for a to-go order of just bruschetta. If I had not had such a great experience the night before, I would have not been too happy with this. We decided to pass, but hopefully the restaurant reads these reviews and can make changes with simple to-go orders. read more

Was a little rocky at first. I am allergic to gluten and dairy and we had a new waitress and she was not very up to date with allergies and did not pay attention to them but we ended up getting a more experienced waitress and we had a much better experience, the staff was very nice, fun atmosphere. Driving on 127 for the worlds longest yard sale today. And this cafe is right on my path. So we stopped in to pickup a bite to bring to the in-laws house. This is a deliciously cute place to eat. Very slow, so have time to sit back awhile and enjoy the garden. I ordered the penne anna vegan style. The other folks ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Ordered two pizzas to-go. When I lifted the boxes, I was amazed. They didn't weigh anything. The pizzas were terrible. Each piece of pizza had one piece of sausage only. I repeat...one piece of sausage per slice. I wished I'd made photos. The taste was decent, but very skimpy on toppings. While I was very disappointed, I'm going to try something different one day. But it was almost the worst pizza that I've ever had. If you have to charge for toppings, so it, but don't go skimpy to save a buck! read more

Went for dinner at first glace, super cute old homestead house, very unique atmosphere. First ordered drink which were very very weak. Salads and appetizers came out, the salad was minimal, however we did order the Caprese for an appitizer which was good. Very yummy tomatoes. As far as the dinner we waited over an hour and a half and was not the greatest. One of us ordered a sandwich was asked to be toasted and it was not. When sent back the waitress got a little snarkey about it and said "We don't toast sandwiches" we said "I asked for it to be toasted" she took the sandwich without a word and left. Dinner was completed and we ordered desert which came out much faster. The coconut cheesecake was very yummy. Tony, I believe was his name, took over our table halfway through our dinner. He was so nice and so friendly. If it wasn't for him, I probably would have given it 2 stars. read more

Such a great find!!! My daughter and I were up for her 11th birthday to see a play at Cumberland county playhouse. We needed to grab some dinner, and we are vegan....so vegan food in Crossville felt like a big ask. But the stagecoach delivered!!!! The pasta with capers was so flavorful, and they had vegan meat options for the meat pasta. We were so thrilled, we ordered a sandwich and vegan orange chocolate cake to go. O. M. GGGAAWWW. Let's just say I only got three bites, because the birthday girl devoured it. So amazing! We live an hour and half away, and I will say we WILL be back!! Also, the service staff was wonderful!! Very accommodating and checked on us several times throughout the meal. The whole experience made my daughters day. read more

Unfortunately, over the few years my wife and I have lived in Crossville, Tn, we've eaten at the Stagecoach Place Cafe four times. The first time, about three years ago, we were extremely pleased with the food and service. The second time, about six months later, the service wasn't very good, but the food was still great. The third time, a few months later, the service was terrible and the food just okay. The fourth time...and last time, the service was even worse then the prior experience and the food did not improve. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Ok we like this place. Great food. Authentic. Service needs a little help, and that's all I will say about that. Once again, food is awesome. Price is very good. The oddity of our Friday night meal was no wine on the menu, it was all out, so I asked why. The waitress said "no more wine, it's too hard to keep up with". Lol. That was a poor excuse. They had beer but no wine or liquor. The beer selection was good beer and I liked it but someone wanting a domestic beer would be out of luck. That was kinda odd I thought. Witnessed an employee eating in kitchen with fingers in mouth, then watched male employee place mashed potatoes in plastic container from pot, lick the spoon, then use his fingers to scrape the pot and lick his fingers. We actually drove past, following GPS, turned back. Not what I expected outside or in. But it's all worth it and then some. Personalized service is what I call it. Small, warm, quite cozy. Terrible service at the Stagecoach in Crossville Tennessee! Waitress was rude and 1 1/2 later and no food we left! They didn't apologized just said it was ready to come out. The young waitress was the problem! The male waiter was very attentive to his customers constantly going to their table bringing water and getting their food. Our waitress was gone and when she walked by she was annoyed whenever we asked her anything! Also you could see in the kitchen were I was sitting and one of the workers was eating something out of a big metal bowl! He then saw me and moved with the bowl! Gross! Bruschetta was burnt on the bottom and it took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the appetizer and that's after we asked our waitress! Never ever will we go there or recommend it! This place could easily be a 5 star rating, but one honestly cannot overlook the poor service. Upon entering we were coldly greeted and taken to a table. Our waitress never smiled. As we look around, the entire waitstaff seemed put off to have to wait tables. If we wanted refills we had to find someone to help us. The food however was a different story.
