We loved the atmosphere and vintage Crossville photos on the walls. The coffee is weak, gravy is a mix with no fat added so it tastes flat, the waffle was undercooked and doughy, and the hash browns were undercooked. We both agreed the best part was the eggs, bacon and country steak. The biscuits were huge and we were both served 2 with our meals which is a plus. I want this place to do better but it was a flag that there was a "cook wanted" sign on the door. If they get an experienced short order cook, I'm sure they can flourish as they have in the past. I know this is a local favorite and I'm willing to try it again but not for breakfast unless they have a different cook. Maybe I went wrong in not having an omelette which has been given good reviews. Sorry Kali's but I had high expectations from previous reviews. read more

My wife and I decided to retry Kali's kitchen. We went there a year ago during the time when many businesses were struggling with the effects Covid19. We were at that time much less than thrilled about several aspects of how things were going at Kalis Kitchen. But, I wasnt going to write any review based on strange times and failures based on said times. Fast forward to July 2022. When we walked in I found it to be fairly busy with only one table open. We were promptly seated and the waitress, who was very busy, was also very pleasant and friendly grabed our coffee and wayer order and left us with menus. 30 sec later she was back with drinks and asked if we were ready to order. Our orders came out quickly, and the portions were very good sized. My Pancake was enormous, and was very good. All of our food was very good, with the exception of my wifes home fries. They didnt apear to have been made on a flat top, at all. Just deep fried potato chunks and to me quite bland. Just personal preference, I just think home fries are much tastier on the flat top. All in all it was pretty good, so, I'll rate them 4 stars. One annoyance, is they have square tables for 4 people. If you have a larger party........ 5 they'll let you move a extra chair. But if you have 6 or more, they have to break your group up, and make you sit at separate tables, maybe not near each other, if they are already occupied nearby. A big pia..... and one we ran into when I was there the first time when we had a party of 7 and made to sit at separatetables at opposite sides of the dinning room. Kalis is not my favorite spot in Crossville. But, the food was good, prices were ok, it was visually clean, & waitress was very pleasant. read more

This was always our go to place when my parents were in town. This last time was a disappointment compared to all the previous times. It was as if the cook was in too much of a rush to get the food out. The bacon was floppy, the biscuits were barely cooked, and the hash browns were not brown. I found this restaurant a little tough to rate. On the down side, the menu listed sausage gravy and biscuits, but there wasn't the tiniest piece of sausage in either my or my husband's gravy. I was hopeful when I saw a couple of lumps, but that was flour. At least that confirmed it was homemade. The biscuits are hit and miss... mine were light, moist, and fluffy; my husband's were dry. On the positive side, we both agreed the pancakes are fluffy and delicious. Another positive is the friendly, efficient, and accommodating waitress. When we mentioned there was no sausage in the gravy, she brought us out a side of sausage, essentially a sausage party crumbed up. And an apology. Certainly, the problem was not her fault and she at least tried to fix it, and did so quickly. Hopefully she remembered to tell her manager they need to either add the sausage to the gravy in the future or fix the menu. Once it had some sausage in it, the gravy was quite good. The eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon were good, too. I asked for crispy bacon and two out of three were perfect (one was just a little chewy). The prices were certainly reasonable. We've only been here once, so I don't know what this place is like in terms of consistency, but I'm willing to bet it's overall a good solid place to get breakfast most of the time, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and going with 4 stars. One last thing I want to mention. From the outside, we thought the place might be dirty, but it was clean and nice inside. read more

This is one of our favorite breakfast places in Crossville. Easy to find and we have always had prompt service and delicious food. For some reason their bacon is about the best we have found and you can get half orders of French toast! Perfect for breakfast. Service is prompt and they refill glasses when they see you are half done! Wish we had taken the time to show off our breakfast but we were too hungry to think of it in time;) read more

I gave Kali's a 5 star rating because our glasses were never empty the entire visit. Our server was 5 stars! I'm not sure of her name but she was all about giving 100% incredible service. We stuffed ourselves to the gills with pinto beans and cornbread, egg sandwiches, and the dessert of the day, Peach Cobbler. A nice little find after hiking the mountains this morning. Of your looking for fancy chain hype restaurant this is not the place for you. This is the place you go when you want real food, and real people. read more

Had breakfast here on a Fairfield Glade golf trip and it was absolutely incredible. Huge portions of absolutely exceptional food, attentive service, and unbelievably cheap prices. Went there for lunch today. I ordered a Patty Melt. My boyfriend ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger. My patty was all on one side of the sandwich. The other half was onions and cheese. My boyfriends burger was a good half inch smaller than the bun all the way around. The tomato slice was thicker than the burger. Was unable to tell the server because we didn't see her again until it was time to deliver the check. She asked how was everything. I answered 'interesting' she smiled walked away and promptly told all the workers what I had said. Let me tell you they all had a good laugh at that. We stopped in for breakfast after fasting for a doctor appointment. All we wanted to do was get something to eat. This was our first visit and didn't expect much as it looks like a bit of a dive, in a strip mall, from the outside. Much to our surprise, it's much bigger, on the inside, and very clean. Service was prompt and efficient. My coffee and his tea were refilled as soon as necessary. The food was hot and flavorful. We had plenty to eat. The pancakes were as big as a dinner plate. I had one pancake, two eggs, bacon and hash browns. He had ham, scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast. With our coffee and tea, the bill was around $17. All in all, a very nice breakfast. I eat at Kali's once a month at least usually for breakfast. Angela is our usual waitress and you could not ask for better service. The food is usually very good, one time they forgot my breakfast until everyone else was done, no charge plus a GC for a future visit. They have a great patty melt for lunch but I can't rate anything else as I said, breakfast is my stop. The French toast is excellent as are the omelets and pancakes. The big breakfast makes sure you won't be hungry for several hours. I recommend you make Kali's a regular stop when in Crossville. read more

Kali's was a great find for my family and I. Being from out of town and on vacation, we are always looking for a place to eat that is not all fried and fast. We researched Kali's here and saw it was rated five stars. It has lived up to its rating. I ordered the Saturday special of roast beef with gravy and potatoes. It was awesome. I also added on a side salad which was comically small, yet still cost a buck seventy five. Even that cannot overpower the other good things of the restaurant. The inside was remarkably clean and nicely decorated. I don't usually notice decor unless there is nothing to worry about with the food, and I noticed a lot about the decor here! The walls were decorated with pictures and articles of the history of Crossville. I found myself wanting to read more of them because they were interesting. The value for the food you get is unbeatable. My family of four cost us 30 dollars with tip and tax, and we were all full and satisfied. The fruit was fresh and a delightful mix. Beware of the pancakes as they will be thicker and bigger than you think. I would definitely eat here again if and when we visit Crossville or even if we find ourselves passing through the area. read more

My wife and I stopped by for lunch. She ordered pinto beans and cornbread and I had the fish sandwich and fries. The Service was excellent. Our server met us quickly and was cheerful. Our meal came out without much of a wait. The pinto beans were bland and a bit dry. Not much flavor to them. The fish sandwich was a full size fillet on a bun. It was tasty but thin so not much to it. We will go back and try their breakfast. Again, the service was excellent. read more

We went for breakfast during the week. Food arrived a little slow, but was a good, basic breakfast. My husband had an omelet and I had 2 eggs scrambled (not very hot), home fries, and sausage. We split a multigrain pancake which was excellent; recommend going just for that. read more
