We ate there on December 26th. We were celebrating 2 birthdays. We could not have picked a better place! It was my inaugural visit but it will not be my last. From the time we were greeted at the door until we returned to our cars to go home was festive, warm and delicious. We had as our appetizer the flambé cheese, truly as much fun to watch being prepared as it is to eat, with the fig jam the perfect salty sweet bite! Destiny, was our waitress and she did everything possible to spoil the birthday girls! Thank you Destiny, you were awesome. Our entrees were Strawberry Spinch salad, I added grilled chicken. It is served with a strawberry vinaigrette. The birthday girls got the flash fried shrimp. The shrimp was not heavily covered in breading and the perfect Carmel color. One had a side of fries, the other had the potatoe trio. Seriously you could not go wrong with either option! Beautiful brown skin on French fries or the baby potato's baked and shredded melted cheese on top. Fork tender and delicious. The restaurant is over the top decorated for Christmas, the drinks are served in different holiday drinkware. We had sprite in a grinch cup, coffee in a Christmas tree mug and sweet tea in a gingerbread nutcracker glass. It was such a fun experience! read more

This is a pleasant, welcoming place in an area of East Tennessee where options are limited. It's my dad's favorite restaurant. We had a great, attentive service. With well-made cocktails, my dad toasted our get-together. Menu and dessert options are varied and enticing. We all were pleased with our choices. The beef tips were especially good. Good coffee but a bit tepid and served a bit late. Most of us were nearly finished with desserts by the time the coffee came. Minor complaint. Really neat atmosphere, the service was good, we sat at the bar and there was only one bartender manning the bar and serving up drinks. He did pretty well managing it, but had to be reminded that I ordered a water twice before he got it to me. The food was good, a little pricey for what we got. We got the fish and chips and the brisket meatloaf with potatoes. The fish was well cooked and the breading was seasoned well, but a bit overdone. The tartar sauce is made with sweet relish, which is a little odd in my opinion so I didn't eat it. The fries were well salted and cooked well. The meatloaf was delicious! The potatoes were a good accompaniment, but nothing super special. The drinks were also good, I had a sangria and espresso martini. The sangria was a white wine base which made it a little sweeter, and the espresso martini was well made. All in all a good experience, but I don't know that it is somewhere I would crave to visit again. read more

Hubby surprised for our anniversary. The restaurant itself is really cute! The owners did a great job with the decor. The place was very clean and lots of outdoor and indoor seating. The cheese fig appetizer was good. My hubby ordered the steak and loaded mashed potatoes definitely just okay. The Hubby old fashion was made perfect. I ordered the twin chicken with roasted Brussel sprouts and it was fantastic. The raspberry cheesecake was not good. Our waitress Hailey was fantastic! Would I go back- yes. The score of 4 is because my hubby steak was ordered well done and they brought it out still mooing. Our waitress took it back and it took them over 30 minutes to bring back a well steak out. This place has a lot of potential. The food was ok, but a lot of the offerings seemed really more geared towards local palates. We got for desert the caramel cheesecake and found out it was just a New York cheesecake with a bit of caramel poured on top. The service seemed stretched thin, and the host was gone for an extended period. The kitchen seemed to take quite a while making our entrees that night. I think it may have been an off night. Staff had the misfortune of dealing with a Karen who couldn't deal with a twenty minute wait time on an entree. Things happen. I assume some kinks occasionally need to be worked out. There were cups already on the table which looked nice but got in the way. We had a messy table because of that. The ambience other than that is absolutely beautiful. The bar has a very nice glow to it. I would say it is a bourbon heavy bar with a few key cocktails and wines. They could opt to offer more variety of local beer styles. Though they do a good job of putting some local beer they could add more styles within that. Perhaps most customers don't care to venture out. I would say that this place has a hell of a lot of potential being pioneers in Kingston and being such a cozy atmosphere. I feel the food and drink could be retooled some more and even the table setting could use larger cups for drinks. The food overall was mostly standard American casual dining faire. I wouldn't recommend adding a bunch of Instagram trendy food though since a lot of it really isn't good for restaraunts. I would say it is better food than Aubrey's which is a staple throughout Knox and Sevier counties. A couple of items i would recommend off hand are Volunbeer by Next Level Brewing in Knoxville, a porter by Calfkiller in Sparta Tennessee, a dessert like honey lavender cake by Magpie's in Knoxville or even a burnt Basque cheesecake, and an entree like a pastrami sandwich or German smoked pork chop. Smoking those two meats and especially pickling pastrami might be too much to do. However the barbecue place in town acquaints people with smoked meats quite a bit and guests may have a taste for it. read more

This place is quite the gem! With it hitting all of the "Restaurants worth visiting" levers in my brain. Before I even walked in the atmosphere outside of the restaurant screamed relaxed and classy, with the metal sign and fire-pit-fire-place-like thing immediately catching my eye. Entering the establishment, I was greeted by two incredibly noticeable things, the warm and beautiful interior packed with hungry patrons. And a bunch if huge TVs over the bar. They aren't bad at all, just a little distracting. Now for the most important part: the food. I ordered the Maple Creek Burger. It was a decently sized burger with toppings galore, bacon, red onion, lettuce, and the pimento cheese all in a wonderful grilled bun. The cheese gave the burger this extra dimension, it was subtle but the burger wouldn't be the same without it. The fries it came with were crispy and delicious, but could've held back a little on the salt. But overall the place is definitely worth coming to! If I actually lived in Tennessee I'd come back often to try everything on the menu! read more

At a high class-looking place like this, with prices as high as they are, you would think your getting top quality food. My steak was as tough as jerky and tasted even worse. Medium rare didn't do it any justice and even the waitress was not a fan of their steaks. If you prefer conventional, hormone-filled beef and love a good jaw-workout, then this place is for you. Aleena gets the gold medal for customer service and innovation! The restaurant does not take reservations, and we showed up with a party of 8. After being told it would be 1.5 hrs until they could seat us, we were ready to leave, but she figured out how to make it happen in about 15 minutes. Then she was what every waitress should aspire to be, remembering our orders and getting drinks out quickly. We felt like the only ones in a crowded restaurant. We have just moved back to Kingston after many yrs away. The food is offered as slightly different twists of country cooking like I had the meatloaf. The bar is great I had a Bloody Mary and it was nice and thick spicy. Coming from California, we were worried we might not find these types of gems in Tennessee. I am so relieved that we were wrong. The Maple Bistro is a little slice of heaven. 1st, the ambiance is amazing. While the location being next to a grocery store isn't the best, the way they made it look is absolutely amazing. The way something looks is juat as important as the service and food. People want to feel like they are spending a night out. The place.is well laid out and I can't wait till it warms up and we can eat on the patio. 2. The service is top notch. The majority of the time, we always get one girl. I think her name is Aleena. I could be wrong. She always recognizes my wife and makes us feel very welcome. Awesome job. 3. The food. What can I say other than the facts. The food is pretty darn good. Lol. I had the salmon and rice, which was very good. Others had fried shrimp which was just ok, and the side of slaw was barely a tablespoon - not worth dirtying the little dish! We noticed this was new. My first impression was when I sat. The cushion on the chair was not even. It was on by a velcro. Unfortunately I had to mess with that a few minutes. I have to say as a new restaurant that seems like cutting corners. My husband did not like his chair either. Our table was small. The menu seemed small. There was some new things. But unfortunately I was really undecided because of the price and the lack of new or familiar foods. We were hungry so we did get an appetiser. The buffalo flat bread. It was good. I chose the vegetable pizza. It had lots of vegetables. When I saw it I thought it might've not been mine. But then I was able to find the toppings that I saw on the menu. I unfortunately was not impressed. BUT the dough. I am in love with. It's so good. I don't eat crust, but this I will. My husband was dissatisfied with his meal. It was the twin chicken and he had trio potatoes. He said the chicken portion was small and unfortunately the potatoes was under. I'm rating this from his and he also said he would rate this. My original rating was four and then from his experience I was going to do three, but I will do a two. It's a little pricy and the menu is a little different. read more

Considering myself a fried smoked bologna sandwich oficionado, I decided to try "Uncle Kris' Bologna," an entree, to my surprise. An absolute oasis and gem of Harriman! Being from Virginia Beach and making a stop to see relatives, this place is unlike anything else in the nearby area and compares to popular eateries in VA. The inside was well decorated and the sofa area was super comfortable. Service and staff were 10/10 and the food will definitely made a lasting impression. My family got the buffalo chicken pizza and we pretty much had to fight over the last bits because it was that good! The Maple Creek Bistro burger was also a total hit.
