I don't usually leave reviews, but I wanted to share my experience in the hope that it's helpful. I made reservations a week in advance to celebrate my son's birthday, and we were looking forward to a special dinner. We were seated promptly, our waiter was friendly and attentive, and our drinks and appetizer came out quickly, so the evening started off on a positive note. Unfortunately, when it was time to order our entrees, we were told that several menu items were unavailable. I ended up having to choose something I normally wouldn't have ordered because so many of the options I wanted weren't available. My son enjoyed his meal, but my chicken gnocchi was very disappointing. It had almost no flavor, and the texture was so soft that it was more like mush than a pasta dish. To make matters worse, the air conditioning wasn't working, and while I understand equipment can fail, the dining room was quite warm despite several fans running. Our server was kind and did his best, but overall the experience didn't match what I would expect from a high-end restaurant. Spending nearly $200 on a birthday dinner that ended up feeling average at best was disappointing. I hope the restaurant can address the menu availability, food quality, and facility issues because I really wanted this to be a memorable celebration for my son for all the right reasons. The atmosphere is very nice with an east Nashville vibe - updated auto shop and dry cleaner shop on the square turned into restaurant with roll up doors and open concept. The food was good/ especially the shrimp and grits for brunch and the corn side and Brussels for dinner. We are loving having a nicer restaurant in Manchester. Only downside- is service is lacking and you need to not be in a hurry, just ready to enjoy time there. But seems like the owner is really interested in making it work as he visits tables each time we've been there. Give it a try! read more

As someone who dines out regularly in this area and truly enjoys supporting local restaurants, I really wanted this place to live up to its "high-end" positioning. Unfortunately, after two separate visits, it has consistently fallen short in both service and execution. For a restaurant where nothing on the menu is under $22, expectations are naturally higher. On both visits, our reservation was mishandled and we were seated in the bar area instead of the dining room, despite specifically requesting dining room seating. The open seating layout--no booths--combined with an open kitchen that vents directly into the dining space resulted in a smoky environment, and we left smelling like food each time, which is not what most diners expect from an upscale experience. Service pacing was another issue. We waited over an hour for our food, with no complimentary bread or salad offered--again, unusual for a restaurant at this price point. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing across the table. The $32 salmon was extremely dry and lacked flavor to the point that I couldn't eat it even though the server stated they only cook salmon medium which is the way I like it. The steak had burnt/charred dry edges and was supposed to be a 12oz NY strip. Look at the picture, I have never seen a NY strip this shape but my husband was ravenous so he didn't say anything and just ate it. The Brussel sprouts were mushy, and most concerning, my son's battered fish had raw batter inside. I believe in giving restaurants a fair chance, which is why we returned after the first visit. Unfortunately, two poor experiences signal a pattern, not a fluke. There are simply better options nearby--including Filo's and High Point--that offer better service, better food, and lower prices. I genuinely hope this restaurant improves, because the concept has potential, but as it stands, it does not deliver the quality or experience its pricing promises. For now, I'd recommend spending your dining dollars elsewhere. read more

We finally got around to trying this place and it did not disappoint! We had our reservations in the dining area (you can choose bar area, middle or dining; that was confusing, as we'd never been before). None of the areas are bad areas to be seated in. We were greeted as soon as we entered and seated right away. Our server introduced himself, he was friendly & very attentive. Very pleased with our service! They only have 4 beers from Common John Brewery, but we knew they didn't have the full liquor license yet. We both like Common John, so we were fine with this. Coke products, tea & water were the other choices. I'm always fine with just water with my meal. My husband ordered a couple of beers...he liked both. We started with the caramelized onion dip as an appetizer. It was delicious! We ate it all! My husband ordered the pork chop & mashed potatoes & street corn as his sides. He loved everything! I tasted his pork chop & street corn and I think his pork chop was the best I've ever had! Street corn was so good...I'll order next time! I ordered the NY steak (medium rare), it was cooked perfectly. My sides were mashed potatoes & roasted brussel sprouts. Loved it all, but next time I'll order the street corn & brussel sprouts!! So our second trip this restaurant, we brought our son to try it out. The food, per usual was very good. There was a hiccup in our dining experience though. We had 5pm reservations but got there about 7 minutes early. The hostess was either under trained or had become flustered and no was being seated. Three other groups came in when finally another employee showed up and took control. Hopefully management sees this and addresses the issue. read more

Excellent dining experience from start to finish. Chef Brett has created a refined yet welcoming atmosphere, and the attention to detail really shows. Our server, Katie, was outstanding--friendly, knowledgeable, and perfectly attentive without hovering. We started with the meat and cheese appetizer, which was beautifully presented and full of flavor. For entrées, we had the Filet and the Pork Chop, both cooked perfectly. The filet was tender and rich, and the pork chop was juicy and well-seasoned. We finished with the Baked Alaska, which was a fantastic and memorable dessert. My wife and I live near Manchester and constantly have to drive to Murfreesboro for higher end restaurants. We eat out quite a bit, so we REALLY wanted this restaurant to work for us. To summarize, I feel it was overpriced for two people ($210 with tip for food and beer) and they underdelivered, Im hoping it improves because I do want them to figure it out! Some of the details: Parking. My wife doesn't walk well and there are only a few spots near the building, the rest are in the square. Not TOO far away, but we were happy it wasn't raining that evening. Now we know Probably didn't help that all they had was beer the night we went.We aren't beer drinkers and wish we knew this BEFORE we setup the reservation! Atmosphere was ok, they did a nice job on the building remodel. But the lack of "booths" and more private/intimate spaces doesn't make for a quiet evening celebrating an anniversary when the next person is 3' away from you. If the goal is to just feed a lot of people, mission accomplished. Corn bread was good, I liked the honey accompaniment. Steaks were decent. Not the best I ever had for the price, but ok. My wife had the filet, I had the rib eye. Both cooked perfectly. Vegetables were all undercooked. And the hassle whatever potatoes?? That accompaniment needs a complete makeover! And it was also undercooked. Service was good, but our server was younger and kept chatting up my wife. Half the reason to go out was alone time with my wife! Need more staff training. Crème brûlée looked small, but tasted good. That is OUR favorite desert and we get it a lot. Nice job on this item. But desert hadn't even come yet and our server brought the bill. My wife wasn't happy and challenged her on this. Server said she was just given two large tables and didn't want us to wait. Ok....i guess. I heard others talk about longer wait times, ours was fine. Me and my wife have been there twice. Loved it and recommend this place. Once for Valentines and another just a regular date night. We have had three different types of steak and not a single bad on. My had the filet and you could cut it with a butter knife that is how tender it was. We use to go the High Point Restaurant however this is twice as good and closer. On Pricing yes it is a little more than a normal Restaurant, like O'Charlies however the food is so much better, the service is outstanding (thank you Autumn and Paco). I have no idea why some raters like (Maggie B. or John B.) go out to eat. I personally believe that these type have a very hard time being pleased with any restaurant, or they are the typical people here in Manchester that think that J&G Pizza Restaurant is a good place to eat. So if you want good food try Binninger-Schwartz, will it be cheap no but will it be GOOD YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! Already looking forward to the time. read more

The hostess had to ask the supervisor if we would be allowed to have a seat for the inexcusable infraction of showing up early. Despite 10 to 15 tables open, we were told we would have to either wait or have a seat at the bar for our crime. We went to the counter, where the "tender" (since they do not have a bar) was, she told us that they still do not have a liquor license. So you can pick one of four Common John beers, soft drinks, or water. No ciders, or dozens of other non liquor choices that are available. After a short while, we were allowed back into general population and were seated. Where we sat for about 15 minutes before our server arrived. She gave us the usual half hearted apology. We decided to start with several appetizers and... beer. The appetizers were amazingly...ok. Nothing near spectacular. We placed our dinner order, just a very expensive filet and chicken. No special requests or anything that was not on what already is a very limited menu. After 30 minutes, another half hearted apology about the food taking so long. So we asked how much longer, we were told at least 20 to 30 minutes. At this point we just canceled our order, paid for the mediocre at best appetizers and left. This must be a common occurrence since the server was just like ok have a good night. An hour just for a pricey filet and chicken. From the other reviews it seems that this happens often. For a restaurant trying to present itself as high end, it is all for show. A menu without $ signs, Edison lights, and a record player does not make up for the abysmal experience we had. With choices like Glass Hollow, Filos, 122 West, and even Cracker Barrel, that has a better drink menu. Take your money and time elsewhere. I have noticed that the owner likes to make snarky comments on people who dare criticize their over priced, underwhelming experience. Definitely a red flag. No apologies, just excuses. Loved everything about this place. Sleek modern design on the inside. Service was very professional and prompt. Everything we ordered was really good. The Brussels sprouts and steak were my favorites. Very fairly priced. Apps in the $10-20 range. Sides $5. Steaks range from $40-100+ so if you go there hoping to pay O'Charleys prices then you'll be upset and probably shouldn't be eating there anyways. My husband and I had dinner for the first time here last night (Saturday night) with two other couples. We had reservations and were seated immediately. This restaurant from the outside seemed to be small, but inside it had ample room and was decorated beautifully. We ordered the Tomahawk steak, truffle fries and brussel sprouts. We had them split the steak and shared it. My husband cooks steaks like no other, but this steak was perfect. It was cooked just like we wanted, with that seared "crust" on the outside, medium on the inside. The truffle fries were delicious as well as the sprouts. We would have loved to have had a cocktail, but no liquor license yet. We are so proud to have a nice restaurant right off the historic square in Manchester. My only issue would be that the meal took a little long to be served. However, with were with friends having conversation, so it was hardly noticed. Would recommend highly. read more
