Good place, solid food menu, even as new owners have taken over looks like the food is got the same quality it's had before. I had a steak tonight with the Jack Daniel sauce, wasn't too crazy about the sauce but the steak was cooked exactly the way I ordered it. Instead of a loaded baked potato I got an unloaded baked potato so they bought me the fixings on the side. Also try to margarita which I thought was pretty decent. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. We went for a private function, so perhaps we got the 'B-team', but the fish was the absolute worst I have had in any restaurant. Everything else was nice and I noticed other entre options looks quite good and others seemed to enjoy their meals. Not excited about our experience on sept. 6. Fettuccine Alfredo was so watery it should have been advertised as soup. If you haven't been to Forte's lately, you might be disappointed. Ownership has changed and nearly all the staff has changed and not for the better. They don't smile and seem over worked. We placed our order and after 15 minutes had to ask for our salad and soup. We had to ask for bread and what we got were stale end pieces that a knife wouldn't cut. The vegetables in the soup were still raw and the broth flavorless. My wife has food allergies and ordered her entree with no seasoning but it was highly seasoned when brought to the table. The owners were no where to be seen. Definitely not what we were used to and we have eaten here nearly every week for 8 years. But no more. Crossville's answer to fine dining has little work to do to achieve this title. Hubby and I both had a juicy prime rib which was promptly devoured. He opted for the Tuscan veggie side which I also ate a few bites since it was loaded with garlic but very tasty. I opted for salad for a starter so I sadly only had a baked potato with my meal. I would have liked the option to have a green vegetable with my meal. I was a little surprised at the limited wine list but hope that will expand as the new owner finds his footing. We had a great waitress for service but unfortunately I can't tell you her name since the noise level of the establishment didn't allow us to hear her or each other. The poor woman had to keep repeating herself for us to understand what she was asking. Hopefully, they will figure out a way to dampen the sound without losing the charming rustic look of the tin ceiling which I blame for this issue. We will definitely go back but maybe it's less crazy noisy for lunch - I'll let you know. read more

This is one of my favorite go to restaurants whenever we're in town. I love the casual atmosphere and the plentiful and amazing food. I know we always have to make a reservation in order to get a spot which just proves how good their food is that there's always a line! I also greatly appreciate that they're willing to cater to a vegan and change things up a bit even from what's on the menu. We have always had a wonderful time and the service never disappoints. Amazing! We were on our anniversary trip and I'm from New Jersey so I'm picky with Italian places and I could tell by the pictures it was legit! Sure enough the original owners were from NJ! They apparently just sold so I hope the new owners keep it going strong! They seem to be! Food was great and not over priced at all, large portions and you can bring your own wine for a $11 cork fee! We left spending under $100 with an app and 2 entrees! We had a wonderful time and out waitress Sarah was exceptional! If we are ever in this area again we'll be back! Cannolis are on point!!!! It's my 4th time & every time she ruins the experience, with her grumpy scowls, bickering with customers, demeaning to her staff, or turning a simple mistake into a full blown argument when she's clearly been proven wrong. Went with a large group (12) tonight and all was okay till bills received and one of our party asked about the .25 cent charge for salad dressing and the female owner said it was because they make all their dressing from scratch. Then the question was asked so you get no dressing you just get greens and she took offense and got very condescending and walked away mouthing, then went around the corner saying she yelled at her to another employee, which she didn't. I approached her and said she was wrong speaking to her that way and proceeded to get mouthy with me then sent her husband to ask me what the problem was and I said you need to teach her how to speak with customers which he then took offense. Anyway things went south from there he threatens to have me removed which I informed him not needed I'll pay my bill, leave and never be back. The owners attitude and the whole incident cost them 12 customers who will never be back and worse we will tell others and so on. The owner when questioned should have quickly said I'll remove the charge and problem solved. There were other things that happened during the service but if owners are going to speak to customers like that and not learn to control their emotions then so be it. read more

My husband and I made reservations for Saturday the 25th at 5:30. The place was busy, good sign. We were seated fairly quickly by a pleasant young lady. Our server arrived promptly, took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. We were brought a half loaf of bread, approximately 4 inches in length. Then about 15 minutes later we noticed another couple had been seated and received a whole loaf. I guess they ran out and they made more. For our dinner we ordered: Signature Dish" Seafood Symphony Sauteed Shrimp & Scallops served with Lobster Ravioli in a Creamy Crab Sauce with French onion soup as a side choice The French onion soup was bland, not much taste, the scallops had quite a bit of sand in them. Signature Dish" Chicken on the Square Sauteed Sliced CHicken Breast with, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Artichoke Hearts, Asiago Cheese Cream Sauce with broccoli and a tossed salad as the sides. Not much to the salad, smothered in dressing, iceberg lettuce some shredded cheddar and a few chunks of diced tomato. The broccoli was cold in spots and water logged. The dinner was in so much sauce I had to sift through it to find the chicken and the artichokes. Unfortunately very disappointed in the whole meal and the service. Not once did the server ask is everything ok, just picked up the dirty dishes and asked if we needed a refill on the soda. read more

We arrived in town Saturday evening and since the restaurant is closed Sunday - Tuesday had to wait 3 days to catch it open and were afraid that the restaurant would not live up to the anticipation but glad to find that it did. We did not have reservations but only had to wait about 10 minutes for a lunch seating. We found the staff to be attentive and friendly and more concerned about our wait time than we were. I had the clam chowder and the prime rib. The chowder was was not as thick as I am use to, but was very good and the side salad was a decent size. The prime rib is broiled, so initially it appeared to be more done than I like, but the inside was just perfect. The prime rib was served with horseradish sauce and delicious au jus. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti was a little over cooked to his liking as he prefers it al dente, but he enjoyed it and said the meatballs were very good. I must admit I was not expecting to find a top notch Italian restaurant in Crossville, TN. I'm happy to admit I was wrong! Everything from the salad to the bread to the entree was spot on. The pricing was perfect! The portion size allowed me to take leftovers for lunch the next day. I have no complaints about my experience at Forte's. My go-to in an Italian restaurant is chicken Parmesan. Theirs may have been the best I've ever had; yes, you heard me right. It was perfectly tender chicken with the most amazing sauce. I loved every bite. It was surprisingly just as good reheated, and I normally can't eat reheated chicken, but this was an exception. My husband's go to is simple spaghetti and meatballs. He loved it! I took his leftovers for lunch as well, and they did not disappoint. They have a wife dessert menu, but we were too stuffed to consider eating anything sweet. I'm definitely going to save room next time, as those desserts looked so yummy. Speaking of next time...I can't wait! (My only suggestion would be to add lasagna to the menu. Vegetable was broccoli which I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to give me all stems, but definitely poor quality. Service, fair unfortunately we had to wait for plates to eat our bread and appetizer which got cold by the time plates arrived. Order drinks from the bar unfortunately they were very poor. I Had a water down old-fashioned and ladies at the table had cosmopolitans. They both considered to be very weak and claimed they did not even taste like a Cosmo. One of our party ordered a margarita and he was told that the bar was all out of limes so obviously they're just pouring a mix into your margarita and there's no freshness to it at all, how can a bar not have limes??? The waitress was very sweet and appeared to be working very hard. I used to joke saying fortes is the only place in town that you can have a cloth napkin, but apparently I can't say that anymore cause now they just use paper napkins, not that that's a big deal but if you're paying a higher price for a meal you expect better quality of service. Overall, given a two was property generous if I'm being honest. We have eating at fortes a few times, but this unfortunately may killed future trips. read more

We had such a great dinner at Fortes. The ambiance was great, the sever (Jack) answered our numerous questions with a smile and the meal was timed well. We never felt rushed.
