Small gym that can get the job done, but can be overcrowded during peak hours and make it impossible to get a work out in. Bottom line: plan accordingly.
Location: a bit hard to find, but on the concourse level of the coliseum stadium. Note that it coming too early or too late, the gates will be closed on the east side, and you have to either go all the way around or squeeze through the gate to get onto the level the gym is on.
Amenities: small lockers (enough for a small backpack), towels, locks to check out, showers (nice bc each is private), water fountain (also a water bottle filler whose filter has been on red for many months now).
Equipment: all brand new. There's a mat area with medicine balls, 6 elliptical a, 6 bikes, a small circuit area, 6 treadmills, a weights area and a big weight/workout machine.
Ambiance: no music can play on the overhead speakers due to classes that happen next door occasionally, therefore bring headphones or be prepared to workout in silence, as it is a fairly quiet gym and it seems awkward to chat with someone on a cell phone. I'd say talking etiquette is sort of like being on the bart or other public transportation, you can talk to who you're adjacent to, but impolite to talk on the phone etc. There is one wall of the gym that is a set of windows to let light in, but the view is blocked mostly by the stairwell outside. read more
