This dive bar felt very much like a local favorite, like a little bit of a hidden gem. It wasn't too crowded so it was easy to order drinks at the bar. I asked the bartender for a cocktail with tequila and he made a delicious drink for me. We ordered food from the chef who is stationed at the side of the bar. Wow!!! The chicken wings were truly divine. So so addicting and delicious. They were spicy but I couldn't stop eating them. We also ordered the pozole, which was good, but the wings were definitely the star of the show. The chef was very sweet. I would come back to this bar just for the wings. read more

Most improved dive bar in the Grantville area! They have really cleaned the place up from what it was. Cameras for security inside and out. This is a local hangout. It's a relax and have a good time, get to know everyone, kind of place. Several screens for sports around the bar. Jukebox for music, Pool tables (they take care of the sticks and tables) and have Pool League most days. They also have shuffleboard, bumper pool, and a pinball machine. They have a small kitchen with great bar food and a surprisingly large menu. The cook makes custom requests once in a while, with specials on the board. I have tried several dishes and they all are delicious, large portions, and at a great price (see pics). As for drinks beer on tap, bottles & cans. Cocktails depend on the bartender on duty, so expect shots and dive bar style drink at affordable pricing. The Victory Kitchen is a wonderful addition to the bar. I've had about 10 different items here and all are a 10 out of 10 for me. The pozole is delicious!! Victor really cares about the food quality! The bar has pool tables a couple classic video games and Golden tee! Wish they would update it. The cook here is AMAZING! They have what what call "Victory Kitchen" with a great menu. The chef is very personable and caters to exactly what you ask for from him. He's not telling the full story on any of his posts, 2 of his previous ones being at another bar in the area got taken down for racism and body shaming. He says things like "let's do better" but he seriously has no one to back him up on any of his claims. If I could give zero stars I would. I came in for the first time tonight with a few friends and we came to the bar and ordered drinks and food. While we were waiting about 40 minutes for a single hot dog and elote, my friend hit her vape. The owner, John, came over and literally scolded her like a 6 year old child that is not allowed in his bar. I apologized to him and said we didn't know it's our first time here. He then proceeded to yell at me and my friend 4 more times before storming off and taking a seat at the bar with a beer in hand. A few minutes later he came back and yelled at my friend again, causing her to leave and Uber home without even telling anyone. Jill, his wife and co-owner was very respectful and tried to make things right but there is absolutely no reason the owner of a business should talk to a new customer this way. This place is seriously a hidden gem! Don't let the outside scare you, because inside is so clean and has so much character. The owners are regularly at the establishment and they are so kind and welcoming to everyone that comes in. Stadium Club is a dive bar extrordinaire of SD yesteryear that is still crankin after all these years. They are in the heart of the Mission Gorge/Fairmont Ave. business district, and a stone's throw from SDSU and the Stadium. The beer here is served the coldest I have had in San Diego, which during our Indian Summers is a must. The have a limited menu which is what all dive bars should strive for: hot dog, hamburger, cheeseburger and pizza. They also have egg sandwiches of various types on the weekend. The burgers here are very good, and cooked fresh behind the bar. Served with an old fashioned relish tray and some grilled potatoes, it is one of the better burgers that you will have, all for only $4. There is a full bar and extensive selection of typical American macro brew on tap and in bottle, which is how I want my dive bars to be. They have a good jukebox and a ton of pool tables, which is a plus. If you go here for lunch like I do, it will be pretty sparse, with the old locals getting an early start to the night. On weekend nights they always have a good sized crowd, and it is a good place to start or end your evening. The bar is pretty locals intensive, but they are very welcoming to strangers. This bar is not so good that you should drive out of the way to go here, but if you are in the neighborhood, it is a must. Two people can have lunch with a few beers for under $20, just what you need in this economy. This is a very laid back, old school piece of SD history that is worth checking out. read more

Stadium Club has made a fan of ridiculously crummy dive bars. The mismatched and holey chairs, 1920s-2000s decor, stiff drinks, and awesome bartenders! Shout out to Chad and Tony who kept my water filled all night and even sat with me in front of the jukebox and helped me pick out some awesome songs. I was actually pretty hungover from some early day drinking when I came here (and was only capable of drinking water when I arrived), but I still had a really good time! The group of friends I was with also enjoyed the pool tables, punching bag games, jukebox, and a stomach wrenching amount of drinks. For the young crowd, I can't say this is exactly the place you're going to meet your young party animals, but if you're looking for a nice older crowd that's probably had one too many, this is a good spot for you. However, the bartenders were young and lively and probably had more to drink just taking shots with people than the patrons did! One of my friends even asked about a "Charlie Brown" shot, and since Chad had never had it before, he poured two on the spot (and on the house) and they took them together :) Awesome. Like I said before, I am now a huge fan of dive bars simply on the fact that they give you the opportunity to be on a first name basis with the bartenders. Which will probably also lead to many free drinks being had and many games of pool being played, poorly. We stayed until closing, and we were the only people still there.... so it kind of felt like our own private bar being bartended by a few of our buddies. Now I don't really live nearby, but I would love to come back here either during the day (which I head is more busy than night?) or during one of their funny themed evenings. read more

I barely write reviews on yelp but i went here for the first time and let's start off by saying as a 30 year old woman I was told I wouldnt be served a drink because I took 4 shots in one hour . Lol I was not super drunk or showing my ass me and my brother were sitting and just talking and laughing having a good time , the owner who was the bartender also told me basically that I am lying and he is 40 years old and he o owes when ppl are lying smh worst experience ever ..know the wife of the owner Julie is probably the only hope this bar has cause she was a sweet heart ! The owner was cool until he stopped serving us and mind you he was drunk af behind that bar lol . ! I would never go back ..! There is a bar called JTs right up the street from them and we left and went there and had a ball !! Stadium is a joke .
