Stacks on Route 66 was such a great breakfast stop. The pancakes were so fluffy and absolutely delicious. The menu is huge, which made it honestly hard to choose -- everything sounded good. We also tried the hash and it was amazing. To top it off, our server was super sweet and very attentive, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place I'd come back to again. read more

Came in relatively slow time mid week, was seated quickly, and helped right away. Large menu, come hungry. Restaurant was nicely decorated and had a bunch of things from the past on the walls. The cfs were good sized and had decent flavor, the skillet my wife ordered was really good. She enjoyed it. Server was alright but towards the end didn't really visit as much and we had to wait a little bit for syrup to go with the pancakes. Price is a little more expensive than typical diner breakfasts. We'd visit again though. read more

With the exception of the horrendous location of where I sat which was in a very high traffic area. My German pancake was exceptional -- perfectly fluffy in the center with beautifully crisp, golden edges that showcased the generous amount of butter used in the batter. Each bite was light yet rich, striking an ideal balance of texture. What truly elevated the experience was the delicate dusting of powdered sugar, which added just the right touch of sweetness. I spread a bit of the soft, melted butter on top and finished with a generous pour of maple syrup, creating an absolutely decadent and memorable breakfast. Overall, it was one of the best breakfast dishes I've enjoyed -- simple, indulgent, and flawlessly executed. Had I sat on a better location, which would have made my review a 5 star, it's a 4 Star. Will I return??? Absolutely. I can never dine at a breakfast chain restaurant ever again. read more

Stack on Route 66 is a wonderful restaurant to hangout with friends and enjoy your time. The restaurant has vivid vibes. I went with my friends on Friday morning to have breakfast. We were greeted and seated inside once we got there. The place was packed by this time.They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The vintage murals around the restaurant looked very nice. The decor was beautiful.Then, it came our time to order our breakfast. Everything was tempting in this menu.They had a large menu filled with many tasty options. Finally, I chose salad and strawberry waffles.The salad was very fresh, and humongous. I was full, so I took my strawberry waffle to go. The waffle was crispy from outside and fluffy from inside, the best waffles I have had in long time ago. One of my friends ordered salad only and the other one ordered salad and strawberry waffle combo. It came with hash brown, sausage and eggs. We ordered coffee. They refilled it many times. We were there for more than two hours. It was really fun. The staff were very welcoming and energetic. Honestly, they were moving all around the place to serve each and every customers.The service was top notch. Great thanks to the manager, Hannah and Luke. Upon arriving you are greeted with an huge crowd of people waiting but it took 25 minutes to be seated. Overall the wait was worth it. Katie is funny and friendly. It's a loud setting and great for big groups I would say. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The food was delicious. I'm very picky with hash browns but this by far has been my favorite, they are perfectly seasoned. The stuffed French toast was tasty. My husband had the El Paso omelette it was good as well. Your coffee cup is never empty as well. We will be back! For two we paid $65 which was a good price for the portions they give. read more

I came here to meet with a friend on Sunday morning. Luckily it wasn't too busy yet, but just a few minutes after the line started getting long. This place looked familiar, and my friend reminded me that we had ate here years ago when it was called Flappy Jacks. I ordered the banana walnut pancakes and my friend got the stacks omelette. The portions are ginormous and pretty good. I'm docking one star cause I asked for my eggs well done and both times they were sent to me as runny. Overall a great breakfast choice in Glendora if you're ever in the area. read more

The restaurant seems like the type that is always busy during a weekend breakfast. Which shouldn't be an issue you can be busy and still have processes in place that allows for all of your guests to have an enjoyable experience. The food was great, portions were decent, price was slightly much (even for the portions given). Very tasty and served exactly as described on the menu. I did not have the worst experience but also can feel the pain of the staff and other guests because of the lack of management or pure disorganization of the place. Multiple times I saw the hosts/managers asking people who they were on the guest list. Not that this is entirely a bad thing but the loud, rude way in which they did made for a lackluster experience for those already seated and eating on the patio. Speaking of the patio, it looks like a half hearted attempt at expanding the seating of the restaurant. The outside "waiter service area" was not the most appealing to the eyes. There was a blue tarp half hanging off part of the patio roof. Beyond that, one of the managers throwing plates into an ouside bus tub that ended up falling out and almost hitting another guests foot was not ideal either. The same manager/host ran around grabbing people and seating them at a table when apparently another employee has already promised that table to guests that have been waiting. We had the runner bring us food that was meant for another table and it seemed like no one really knew any table numbers. Again, so much disorganization it is hard to summarize it all which is sad because the former restaurant this place was used to be pretty great with service, food, and all around experience. I hope they step their game up and provide a better customer experience to future guests. read more

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at stacks on route 66! We were seated on the patio which had nice heaters for the chilly morning. Our waitress and staff were very friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the stacks omelette and described it as the best omelette he has ever had!! It is gigantic with tons of meat and cheese and delicious veggies. I had the stuffed french toast which was absolute heaven! It was filled with a cream cheese cottage cheese (?) Mixture and a side of strawberries in a light glaze. Highly recommend! All of our girls had chocolate chip pancakes that they all said we're delicious! The coffee and juices were great as well. The prices were a bit high, however we were visiting from out of town and it may be just that we were not used to the prices. All in all, we highly recommend this little gem for a great breakfast with a picturesque view of the San Gabriel mountains! read more

First off, if you come here on a weekend, you will definitely wait, but it goes fast and it's definitely worth it. Been there twice and the food is great and large portions. A cozy diner with great service, say less! Servers within in the same seating section kept checking up on us. They all made sure we had what we needed throughout our entire dining time. Blintzes Crepes -texture of crepes was quite thick and dense. There was no bounce to the crepe at all, it's more of a really thin overly mixed pancake. Blend of sweet cheeses threw us off a little, definitely had cottage cheese and cream cheese mixed in it. I didn't mind the cottage cheese curds throughout the sweet cream but that texture might gross others out. Banana Nut Waffle -waffle was crispy on the outside with a light and fluffy inside. Who doesn't love whipped cream? West Coast Skillet -mostly topped with chicken and mushroom with a bit of chopped tomatoes, there was 1 dime sized broccoli on it and I thought it was accidently dropped in. Now I'm looking back at menu it was suppose to be on there. Overall still good! Chicken had a good char which added so much flavor. read more

The last time I came here it was called flapjacks but essentially it seems the same! I ordered an omelette, that said it was 4 eggs but maybe more it was huge both our plates could be enough to feed two. They come with large side portions. What a nostalgic restaurant takes you back to the old feel of Route 66. The restaurant was clean. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. Pancakes are their specialty however, I also tried a bacon cheeseburger with avocado and a side of french fries it was delicious hot coffee going around consistently. Staff was very tentative if you're looking for a nice restaurant to go have a good meal indoor or outdoor on good old Route 66. I definitely recommend this one.. read more

This is my first time coming since they bought the other restaurant that used to be here. I ordered the bacon waffle and upgraded to a combo which included your choice of bacon, sausage, or hash browns. I chose the hash brown and egg as my combo. The bacon waffle was really good, I was just under the impression the bacon was cooked into the waffle and not just sprinkled on top. The sides were normal and no complaints there. Stacks is one of our breakfast spots. We tend to go here from time to time. The portions are big and they have a very large menu. My favorite is the Avocado toast with eggs and arugula. My husband loves the banana nut pancakes. There is always a line here but it does go by fast and worth the wait. This is an excellent place for big parties and food sharing. read more

As a local and regular, Stacks on Route 66 is by far one of my favorite spots and never disappoints. The breakfast is consistently amazing, and the staff is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. My go-to is the Neptune, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu--sweet or savory, the variety and quality are always there. You can truly feel that the staff is treated like family, and that care shows in the atmosphere and service. I also want to give special recognition to their limited-time Thanksgiving dinner, because it deserves it. I recently lost my mom and wasn't in the headspace to celebrate on Thanksgiving Day. The day after, my partner and I wanted something low-key but were still craving a comforting Thanksgiving meal--and Stacks delivered in the best way. The plate was generous and thoughtfully prepared: tender slices of turkey with gravy, classic stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, fresh vegetables. They also offered the option of adding a crisp side salad or soup. The photos really speak for themselves. Turkey is usually hit or miss for me and often too dry, but this one was perfectly cooked, moist, and full of flavor--one of the best I've had. This experience also showed me that Stacks is more than just a brunch spot. They offer quality, care, and comfort when it really matters. As always, I'm grateful for the consistency, heart, and attention to detail that keeps me coming back. Highly recommend. read more

Ordered a German Pancake for take out and they said it would be 20 minutes 50 minutes later there is something wrong with the oven and they keep saying it's taking longer. This morning ~11:00, my family and I came into Stacks for a nice Saturday morning brunch. Right... Thankfully we were able to put our name in via Yelp, which was great and saved us half an hour of waiting. Otherwise, you'll have to wait quite a while, no matter the time, seemingly. We were seated outside, which is fine, since it's actually quite a nice day. The spacing outside is a little cramped and slightly awkward, but no big deal. We almost immediately ordered drinks, and about five minutes later, ordered food. I personally, got a raspberry iced tea and stuffed French toast. The food took probably no more than fifteen minutes to come out, which is honestly great, considering most brunch places. The food was fine, but honestly not much to rave about. The French toast was more like blocks, stuffed with some sort of cottage/cream cheese. It came with an option of strawberry or cherry glaze syrup (which I opted for strawberry). I got it as a combo, with scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs were slimy, likely a result of being cooked in a large batch with too much oil, which is disappointing. Only ketchup could really drown it out. The bacon was just okay, but tough and cheap. If you aren't big on sweets, this plate really isn't for you. The syrup didn't help at all, and was sickly sweet. I could only eat one fully, and they were definitely better with regular maple syrup. Everything was just mediocre. It was a fine place, but for what we got, it's honestly just overrated. Our server wasn't all that attentive, and we didn't even get a name, so. Yikes. The inside was fine. Obviously we didn't go in there too much, but it was a little chaotic, at best. The bathroom was fine, small, but no big deals there. Overall, for the service and quality, the place is overrated and expensive. read more

Love coming here with my dad in the mornings I absolutely love the cherry compote. That is literally the only reason why we go there to eat is because I love anything cherry and this is the best cherry compote that tastes absolutely amazingly perfect. The service is always amazing. The French toast and pancakes at Stacks are so good! Love that you can make it a combo and add eggs and sausage or bacon for something savory. Plus their coffee is refillable which is a nice touch. This place gets busy on weekends but there's usually plenty of seating before 9 am. The servers are super friendly and it's good vibes all around in a classic diner setting! read more

Stacks (on Route 66) is unflattering chaos. I bite into my country fried steak, and I spit out rubbery cartilage twice. (photos attached) The location over-seats tables, and I am surrounded by frustrated servers getting overwhelmed and loud irritated families complaining about slow service. I arrived on a weekday at 10:20AM. I was immediately sat down. My server never returned, so I waved someone down to give an order. I ordered the Country Fried Steak ($17.99). The dish includes eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. I waited 15 minutes. The pancakes are thick, warm, and bouncy. The scrambled eggs are soft and fluffy. If i could give this restaurant a 10 star review i would, this was my first time in this restaurant, i just moved to Pasadena so I'm open to new places, but I'm always excited for pancakes so i had to try the famous Flappy Jacks, me and my boyfriend checked in and the lovely lady told us is was a 15-20 minute wait, meanwhile we waited this older lady menioned that we came at a good time because the wait is usually longer, we got called in 10 minutes which was great, we got sat by this lovely hostess with a headband, never got her name but she was really sweet, she handed our menus and asked for our drink order, while that our server andrea came to greet us and asked if we are ready to order or if we still needed some time to look at the menus. we asked her if she recommended any plates since it is our first time, she recommended the FLAPPY SIGNATURE, STRAWBERRY PANCAKES and the FLAPPY SKILLET. We took all three orders she recommended and made some into combos, her attitude was amazing, she was so nice, checked up on us every time, got our things when we needed them, she really had great service, probably the best service I've ever had, we finished some of our plates because the portions are huge, a nice, older gentleman with an accent came up to us and offered to take our dirty plates out of our way and asked if we are having a good time, if the food was good and if the service was good, we told him it was the by far the best service, he was very happy, i did get his name and he said its Tiger, i made a silly joke if he's friends with tiger woods, and he laughed, he seemed a little different than the other employees so i assumed he was either the general manager or resturant owner just trying to help out. Ok food, but stick to the breakfast items, not the lunch or dinner items. The walnut waffle is probably the best item here in my opinion. Everything else is overpriced, more expensive than Denny's, about the same quality as Denny's, but the good thing is they have big portions. Don't really understand the long lines at this place. Here's the thing: One of the men who work here (manager?) should really stop being so rude, namely to his employees. If he wants to be a Bully, he should become a police officer, jail guard, or prison guard, then maybe work at the Glendora Police Department jail, kitchen at Twin Towers, or the prisons, because that's the only place his attitude belongs, so he can contribute to America's 68% re-offense rate and *the largest* incarceration population in the world. My honest impression was that he gave off that 40%-Of-Cops-Beat-Their-Wives Type Energy (because *at least* two peer-reviewed studies and congressional testimony show 40 percent of cops beat their wives). Though that man's toxic attitude has no place in the service industry, oppressive "governments" love that kind of cold attitude -- and he'd probably get a promotion (and raise) from abusing incarcerated people if he were to go into "law enforcement." Also, I suspect some of the people that work here might benefit from seeking counsel from an employment lawyer because it screams "toxic work environment." There are no worse "human beings" than employers that treat their employees like garbage. Personally, I won't be coming back after my last visit. I'd rather eat without having to witness toxic energy, located in a toxic right-wing city (Glendora), with a toxic culture. Read the other reviews to see what I'm talking about, because apparently that was "not a one-time thing;" and Yelpers have tried to point this out in other Google and Yelp reviews, as well as Instagram, but Instagram comments bringing awareness to this issue have been reportedly blocked (according to another review). The food and service was stellar but the management was unparalleled. I had heard amazing reviews about the Breakfast here and I begged my boyfriend to take me. We had to wait for a bit but I didn't mind if the food was as good as they say it is. We were seated after about 20 min and as soon as our waitress came around she greeted us with a huge warm smile. My boyfriend and I ordered the Flappy's Signature pancake special and the Mediterranean Omelet with some hot coffee. As we waited to receive our food I made many good and not so good observations. The wonderful thing is that our waitresses along with the other servers were on top of it. They made sure drinks were taken care of as well as any needs from the customer and It was very clean for as busy as it gets. As far as the cons, well I noticed and I'm pretty sure EVERYONE noticed a very large party/family towards the back of the restaurant. Not a big deal at FIRST, until the ruckus that was made by the unattended children was making it very hard for me to enjoy my stay. The parents or guardians of these wild animals were paying no mind to them opening up sugar packets smashing jelly packets and having everything that you would have on your table top on the ground. I waited to see if anyone was going to complain and I noticed what I believe was the manager head in that direction. My boyfriend and I were relieved until we noticed nothing was done. UGH really? So a lil more time passes our food arrives and the beautiful sight of our food made me forget about the animals for a second. MMMMM MMMMM GOOD! All of our food was made to order! But there was one problem those damn kids!!!!!!! Honestly I can't believe that management didn't take in consideration the other paying customers that were there trying to enjoy Breakfast/Lunch. It makes me wonder if those managers have any clue about managing a well known busy restaurant. I left with a headache and a bad taste in my mouth. I had an early morning meeting at my company's Glendora office, and I wanted to get a good, reasonably healthy breakfast before the meeting started. On the advice of a friend and the strong Yelp reviews, I stopped at this location of Flappy Jack's Pancake House. The restaurant was almost completely empty and I was seated almost immediately. I had expect to order quickly, but, apparently, the restaurant was short staffed at the time. It took a while to get even a cup of coffee, but I had budgeted plenty of time before the meeting. So, it wasn't a big deal. After about 5 minutes, I was able to order the West Coast Omelette. I then relaxed a bit checking out the restaurant's interesting Route 66 themed murals and booths and listening to the 50s and 60s oldies rock tunes. After about 5 minutes, the waitress brought out the buttermilk pancakes that come as a standard side with omelettes here. After about 10 minutes, a waitress apologized that the cook accidentally missed my order's request for Monterrey Jack cheese instead of the Cheddar cheese that the cooks usually use when making that omelette. So, the cook had to start from scratch and make a whole new omelette. Again, I had some time. So, it was not a big deal. In another few minutes, my West Coast Omelette arrived with the Monterrey Jack cheese and egg whites, just as I had ordered. It was really yummy, very filling, and worth the wait, and the staff was really sweet. A lady manager even gave me a $10 gift certificate for my next visit, even though I told her it was not a problem. I came here wary of the potentially long wait during peak hours. So, I was prepared for the delay. I definitely recommend Flappy Jack's Pancake House, but come here expecting delays. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Stacks ,and I must say, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a beautiful and inviting ambiance that truly set the tone for a memorable dining experience. The staff at Stacks were nothing short of wonderful. They were attentive, friendly, and accommodating, making sure that all my needs were met with a smile. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations further enhanced my visit, ensuring that I made the most out of my meal. Speaking of the food, I can confidently say that it was simply fantastic. I ordered the turkey avocado melt, and it exceeded all my expectations. The combination of tender turkey, creamy avocado, and perfectly melted cheese was a flavor explosion in every bite. I also couldn't resist ordering the zucchini fries, which were delightfully crispy and flavorful. The French onion soup was outstanding, with rich, savory flavors that warmed my soul. I came to this place because this was one of the places on Yelp that opens at 6 am and I was hungry. I wanted to get some breakfast before heading to the goldline on Citrus Ave and this was the closest restaurant and the only restaurant I found within close distance and that was open at 6 am. This is a five star review based on my dine in experience today (June 23,2017) based on several factors. (1) The servers and hostess were very friendly and bright and very cheerful (especially at 6 am in the morning, that is very refreshing). (2) They have a variety of options on the menu and this also includes gluten free food options and menu items. They have all American breakfast options, waffles, flap jacks, and also have lunch options as well and specials and features on the menu. (3) The Louisiana Polish Sausage and egg are served with toast and hashbrown and serving portion is very good and it's very good. Coffee is good here too. (4) The ambiance here is like the olden days of the diner where it's like a family oriented and welcoming place. I feel like I was in the 1950s diner, but welcoming. (5) The music playing in the background is really cool. Old school 50s style music. And the ambiance here is really cool and has history of route 66 I really enjoyed my dine in experience with the food, ambiance, music, and the servers and hostesses here at this establishment. So it was my first time trying this place. The services were alright until the food came out. I order a trị-tip and I asked for pinkish and the services said sure. But when the food came out it was well done and we asked the server and she said we don't do pinkish/rare. I asked her, how come when I said pinkish/rare you said sure instead of letting us know in the beginning you guys don't do pinkish/rare. Then she said she will ask the chef to remake my tri-tip which took 45 minutes later to get. My boyfriend ordered the same thing but he was too hungry to wait for another one so he had to eat his well done trị-tip. When I finally got my trị-tip the server was like oh let me get you steak knife. So this whole time she had steak knifes and didn't give it to us and had us using butter knife. I asked her how come in the beginning you didn't provide us the steak knifes. Her response was because WE NEVER ASKED. I was really shock of her attitude and response. My friend lemon slice ice water cup had soap on the top layer and when he kindly ask the server to switch out for another cup and the sever goes it's not soap it's the lemon and rolled her eye at us before walking away. The restaurant is a cute little dinner. I want to give this place another chance, but this attribute and type of service is really unacceptable. read more

I came to Flappy Jacks not expecting much. Wow was I wrong. There plates are HUGE not to mention delicious. They did have a pretty extensive menu, but they have everything for everyone. I wasn't sure what to get considering I wasn't sure what they were famous for. My waitress, Rachel, was very knowledgeable and catered to what I was in the mood for. I ended up getting the flappy signature with some eggs and bacon. And I have to say, WOW, this place really didn't let me down.The flappy signture was almost like a big pastry filled with fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas. With a little bit of syrup and lemon, it was heaven. The eggs were cooked perfectly (most places make them too runny), and the bacon was nice and crisp. The waitress was very nice, patient, attentive and kept my coffee full. The atmosphere was much like an old diner I used to attend back in the day, almost like everyone knew each other because of the small city. The staff was really friendly, the waitress was on top of everything and the food is amazing. I am going to be coming back for sure. read more

We recently visited Stacks on Route 66 for the first time, after a recommendation from a friend. Overall, the food was amazing! I had the Stacks Signature dish, which was delicious, while my husband opted for the Texas Skillet, the portion sizes were very big and we had food left over. However, our server forgot to bring the sourdough toast that we ordered, and we had to ask another server for it. While we did feel a bit forgotten by our waitress, it was a busy time, so we understood. On the downside, when we first arrived, we were greeted by what I assume was the manager. He was very rude to the people ahead of us putting their names down and he made us feel like an inconvenience. The hostess who seated us also didn't look very happy, and he rushed through the seating process, dropping the menus on the table and walking away so quickly that he almost bumped into another server. Despite all this though the food was the highlight, and we would give it another shot. Hopefully, the staff's attitude improves, as it could really elevate the overall experience. read more

I recently visited Stacks Diner and enjoyed a nostalgic dining experience that took me back in time. The vibe here is absolutely charming, with a cozy, retro ambiance that makes you feel right at home. We ordered the German pancakes and the eggs Benedict. Both dishes were decent. The German pancakes were fluffy and had a lovely, light texture. They were a tad less sweet than I anticipated, but still enjoyable. The eggs Benedict, while not the best I've ever had, was solid. My recent experience at Stacks left much to be desired. From the moment we entered, the crowded atmosphere made it feel like we were on top of each other. We were seated at a small table right in the middle of foot traffic, where servers maneuvered past with trays of food, leaving me feeling uneasy about potential collisions or spills. The breakfast wrap I ordered turned out to be a lackluster rendition of a breakfast burrito, with an odd flavor that I later discovered was corned beef--a taste I personally dislike. Meanwhile, my husband's chicken fried steak was deemed merely okay, failing to impress. The high prices at Stacks did not reflect the quality of the food or the overall dining experience. Given the cramped conditions and the underwhelming fare, it's difficult to justify the expense. In conclusion, Stacks falls short of expectations with its crowded ambiance, lackluster dishes, and steep prices. It's safe to say we won't be returning anytime soon. read more
