We had a reservation at Stacks today and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience before we even got our meal. We've been coming here for more than 20 years, and unfortunately, ever since the name and management changed, our experiences have continued to go downhill. Despite that, we've continued to give the restaurant chance after chance because we've been longtime customers and genuinely wanted to see things improve. The host at the front, a shorter man with a thick accent, was extremely rude and dismissive from the moment we arrived. We specifically requested to sit inside because it was 97 degrees outside, but we were seated outside anyway. After sitting down for a few minutes, we realized it was way too hot and went back inside to ask if we could be moved. Instead of trying to accommodate us, the host told us, "If you don't want to eat, get up so someone who does can sit and you can continue to wait for a table ." The way he spoke to us was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. As I was walking back to my family to let them know we should just leave, the waiter then said, "Everyone stop crowding around me," threw his hands up, and walked away. We had a reservation and were simply trying to find a comfortable place to sit and enjoy our meal. We were not rude or disrespectful to anyone, so the attitude we received was completely uncalled for. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving without eating. The authentic diner experience is right here, and it is still decorated with 1950s style comfy booths to bring you that nostalgia. My fiance and I shared Old Fashioned Buttermilk Flap Jacks, Eggs & Bacon (comes with Flap Jacks), Banana Nut Waffle, Eggs and Hash Brown (comes with Banana Nut Waffle), and had two hot coffees. A thing I love about diners is their amazing service; our server was so friendly and always checked in on us for coffee refills and to ask if we needed anything. Needless to say, my pancakes were huge and everything I had hoped for. Served hot, so fluffy and thick, and even more delicious when I drowned it in maple syrup. I saw other photos that the waffles here look really unique so I convinced my fiance to order it so I can take some bites. The waffles are indeed just as good as they look, if not, even better. They definitely got the waffle part down too. They are crispy/crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Both our breakfast plates came with a side of our choice so we went with eggs, bacon, and hash browns. Everything was delicious and we ended up taking some leftovers home to enjoy the next day. I think we got too excited so we went in a food coma afterwards, and a happy and heavy one at that. Upon walking in, there were only a small handful of customers, and I was greeted right away. My waitress came over promptly and asked if I'd like something to drink, so I ordered a coffee while deciding on my meal. I ended up getting the cinnamon raisin French toast with hash browns and scrambled eggs. Unfortunately, the French toast didn't have any raisins in it -- it was mostly cinnamon and a bit too sweet for my taste. A lighter touch of syrup would have been better. The hash browns were plain and unseasoned, so you'll definitely need to add your own salt and pepper. The scrambled eggs were just standard eggs, and the coffee was decent. That said, the decor and atmosphere were nostalgic and inviting, which I really enjoyed. I actually came here after seeing it on TikTok and decided to stop by after my hike. Would I come back? Probably, if I'm in the area. I'm also looking forward to checking out a nearby coffee shop next time. Everything that I've tried here has been really good. Their portions are large and fulfilling. Pancakes, waffles, steak, you name it, it's delicious. The waiters/waitresses are excellent and very quick with their orders and drinks, this includes the kitchen staff working their magic as well. The place is really busy but it moves quick and you get a table before you know it. The place is full of cool artifacts and pictures of Route 66 so there's a lot to see and read as well. Staff are really friendly and you can see how hard they work. I got the Cali skillet with no broccoli and it was so good & a big portion. I recently visited Stacks On Route 66 Pancake House in Glendora and left feeling very disappointed due to multiple cleanliness and food safety concerns. Although the restaurant displays an "A" health rating, the most recent inspection posted was from 2024. Based on my experience, I believe a more current evaluation is needed. When I was first seated, the chair at my table was visibly dirty. I attempted to move, and the server did assist by switching the chairs, but the original dirty chair was simply placed at another table without being cleaned. The issue itself was never addressed--just moved. One of the most concerning moments was when our food arrived. My guest's plate of toast was brought out in a way where the bottom of her plate--which had likely been sitting on a counter or other surfaces--was placed directly on top of my toast to hold her plate up. This means the underside of a plate was resting directly on food that I was expected to eat. That is extremely unsanitary. Plates should be carried separately or on a tray, not stacked in a way that contaminates someone else's food. The ketchup bottle on our table was sticky and visibly dirty, making it uncomfortable to even touch. My knife also appeared unclean, as if it had already been used. I also observed a staff member take a used to-go box from a table and place it on top of other "clean" boxes. Combined with seeing stacks of to-go containers openly exposed in the dining area, this raised serious concerns about cross-contamination. Additionally, cleaning tools like a broom were left out in a walkway near the steps where customers pass by, which not only looks unprofessional but also creates a potential safety hazard. The food itself did not help the experience--my sausage was excessively oily, and my egg whites were greasy, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal. I asked to speak with a manager and later realized I was speaking directly with the owner. I appreciate the conversation and the 20% discount offered, but it did not reflect the seriousness of the overall experience. I came in excited to treat a guest and left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. My waitress never came to greet me, take my drink order, take my food order, bring my food, or bring me a to-go box as requested. She did come to give me my check and take my payment asap. For starters, the vibe you get from stacks is throwback. Like you're back in the 80's or 90's. Our waiter was polite and made sure we were good. If you're a big coffee person, the coffee isn't very good here. I had to add a few packs of creamer to drown out the burnt taste of the coffee. The 3 pancakes were huge! My cousin was barely able to finish 1 1/2 and he usually eats a lot. The pancakes were soft and delicious. Very good. The eggs and hash browns were a solid 7.3/10. I like my hash browns with salt and pepper and these didn't have any flavor. The eggs were ok. Nothing to rave about. Now for the main dish... the banana nut waffle. It was a 10/10. Luckily, we came on a weekday early so there wasn't too much of a wait. We ordered the french toast combo with bacon and scrambled eggs. I ordered the Texas skillet which was chunk of steak mixed with peppers and mushrooms on top of a bed of hashbrowns. The food came out hot and fresh. I wish the hashbrowns were a bit more crispier, but the steak was yummy. Had tons of flavor with all the ingredients mixed together. This place has been on my radar for years as my boss and I typically meet at the Flappyjacks in Orange. Now under new management/ownership, this place is now Stacks on Route 66. Still relatively close to--or the same--menu as before, and still the same great quality. I met my boss here for brunch prior to an afternoon event at a client's branch. He arrived before me and was seated despite the whole party not being present, a nice change from Flappyjacks. There is also noticeably way more parking available, which is convenient. Alejandra was our server and she was such a sweetheart. She kept the waters coming and provided excellent service and plenty of boxes for our leftovers. I went with the stuffed French toast combo with strawberry compote, egg whites and bacon. My boss ordered the strawberry waffle, breakfast wrap and a side of bacon. We checked in with the hostess and took our name/phone number which then they sent us a Yelp link via text. We waited until we were next in line through the yelp app, but saw parties to continue to go ahead of us. I went up to the staff/manager and he scolded us that we need to check in physically, even though we had initially. They sat us right away, however, the food took a long time to get to us. The server checked in with us and apologized for the food taking a long time. The food was okay, but the bad service overshadowed the overall experience.
