I had never been to a Stacks before and I was very happy with my visit. We had a large group and our server was 100% on it, and every order placed was perfect. I appreciated that they left coffee carafes and water pitchers on the table for those of us (hello, me!) who like to sip coffee but chug water. My blueberry pancakes and side of bacon were fantastic and the coffee was REALLY really good. Parking took a moment to find was reasonable, and the wait was reasonable too for a Sunday. I refuse to partake in the monstrous weekend wait, but I am all for some Stacks during off-peak hours. My favorite things here are: - omeletes. The applewood bacon & avocado is really good- lots of crispy bacon, lots of buttery avocado. I also like the Mexican omelet (minus the chorizo) because the green chiles are such a novelty item to have for breakfast- i love it. - i am not a pancake person, but my cousins & I came here once & shared a full stack of mac nut & coconut pancakes & it was enough for like 6 people to share. - my best gf & i used to share the chocolate divine waffle when we used to come here (on top of our egg dishes) & it was very decadent. It was our dessert, basically. Their waffles are huge & flavored with vanilla (i think) and that combined with the chocolate & whipped cream is heavenly. During busy days (sat & sun), service is pretty rushed, but when things are a little slower, service is actually okay. I would not recommend waiting an hour to eat here...it's just not worth the wait, but if you can get a table within 10-15 minutes, it's a great place to get a pretty hearty, delicious breakfast. My experience last time was much better then this time. My waitress seemed to keep disappearing so Don't expect the best service here. There was definitely no wait when I came on a tuesday at 11am. A guy sat down ten minutes after me and got his meal before me and my daughter did so that tells you a lot about how slow the service really was. My order: Italian Scram. When your friends tell you to have brunch, better get there early! I wasn't sure where to get reservation. Basically, soon as you open the door look for someone standing near a podium of some sort. It wasn't obvious for me since it was my first time. Maybe it would be better if the place had a stand centered in the middle. There are speakers outside of the restaurant, announcing who is next in the queue. I felt like I can eat an entire mountain. And indeed I was able to complete the All-Meat super omelet. The omelet was cooked well, there were bacon biscuits on top. The potatoes were peeled/shaved off (that I liked). The plain bagel was toasted (good job). These plates are huge and can be filling. As far as customer service, the waiter provided good customer service. We asked for extra utensils, since we were missing a set. He went the extra mile and gave us some napkins, too. I love the feel of this place. It makes me feel at home. I arrived here on a Saturday early afternoon. I would say around 1. I was expecting a long line because this is the perfect place for brunch on a Saturday. The wait was estimated for 30 minutes and i thought, "Hey! Not bad!" So I waited in the car with a friend for 20 minutes before going back to check in and we had found out that they had already called our name. The wait was more like 15 minutes! I was surprised! The service and food there was great! Our waiter greeted us promptly and took our order soon after. There were lots of different dishes to choose from. It was hard to narrow it down to just one! We went here for breakfast. Coffee was good but the food was not even warm nor did it look like it cooked fresh. Seemed like it was microwaved? Ordered the chorizo scramble and steak and eggs. If these were cooked upon order, one would see some steam from the food, it was room temperature. Years back Quino entering the restaurant, the smell of food being cooked is in the air. Had a great experience here. Our server was a taller guy, pony tail and beard... He was moving around his area quickly but slowed down and was completely attentive, polite, informative, etc. every time he came to our table. We were also heading to the airport right after breakfast and running a little late. I mentioned that to the staff and they took care of us, which was really cool. I had the Mexican omelette and a single banana macadamia nut and coconut pancake (because my brother said I had to try it.) I have to say though, this is not the place to add extras. The omelette itself was way more than I could handle, let alone the potatoes and perfectly toasted bagel it came with. By the time I got to the pancake I was unmoved, but I couldn't tell if it was because it was just "okay" or if it was because I was so damn full that my tastebuds were on strike. Despite the long lines and time it takes to find parking, Stacks serves a pretty good breakfast. In contrast to our basic pancakes houses, you will find a crab fritatta with gouda here. They have a wide selection of both lunch and breakfast items which is a good thing since it may be closer to noon when you get seated. I usually get the chicken apple sausage omelet with Gouda, a side of fruit, and then eat the pancakes off the wife's plate. Came here this morning for breakfast with a friend. Parking was a little annoying because it is all metered parking in this area (and I only had a few quarters left in my car thanks to SF's rediculously expensive meters). Came here for brunch with my mother and sister on Friday. Amazingly, we were seated within 5 minutes even though there were a lot of other people waiting too. The food here is pretty good. I ordered the All Meat Omelet and it came with potatoes and a bagel. The Omelet was huge... the only thing I didn't really like was that there was too much cheese and the egg was a bit bland it you did not get a bite of the meat with it. The potatoes were very yummy, I really liked the seasonings that they put in it. My mother ordered the Belgium Waffle with Apples, and she gave me a bite. I think it is pretty good, it isn't ridiculously sweet and the waffle was really fluffy. The thing that I find to be stupid is that they charge for cream cheese... I like my bagel with cream cheese... not with butter or jam(which they had on the table for free). But the bagels do not come with cream cheese and they charge you $1.19 for a ball of cream cheese. I know $1.19 isnt much... but its just the fact that they charge you for it when they give you bagel with your meal.... Still, overall this place is pretty good. read more

I went to breakfast with my mom over the weekend, and though it's usually very busy it only was a five minute wait! The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is great. It's nicely located and the views out the window are beautiful. My mom had strawberry waffles which were amazing and I had huevos rancheros.They are a different style that I'm used to but I really like to change. They serve a wonderful organic French roast coffee that is not harsh or too strong or bitter and as soon as the server poured it into my cup the smell was so rich and amazing. Just had lunch there with family trying to support local restaurants. Had a nice experience prior but not this time at all! This guy says he's the owner shouts out to fellow patrons (leaving and those seated across from our table) "thanking them for coming and hope they like their experience", I thought I was nice of him! That's the only breakfast place in the area, where you see such long waiting line every weekend. I only go there when I can wake up early enough because waiting in line isn't fun even they serve free coffee at the entrance. I love their banana pecan waffle, bacon waffle and omelets. Everyone raves about Stacks so when I got the chance, I came here. Unfortunately, chicken and waffles are only on the weekends so I had to order something else. My cousins and I came here around 1:40pm (they close at 2:30pm) and were seated promptly. Menus were given and we were left to look things over. Because of the drought, they'll only give you a pitcher of water if you request it (says the sign on the table..). The restaurant itself seems pretty big. They have a lot of tables inside and a few tables outside as well if you prefer to sit outside. Bathrooms are located in the far back on the left side of the restaurant where there's a huge clock on the wall. I ordered their french toast which came with butter and a hot apple compote. I normally just eat my french toast with powdered sugar so I was sort of bummed when they didn't really sprinkle much over my french toast, but it was still pretty good. My younger cousin got their raspberry pancakes which she enjoyed. The pancakes are actually a decent size so you should think it through when ordering 2 or 3 slices. My older cousin got one of their basic breakfast meals and she seemed to enjoy it, although it was sort of odd that they give bagels instead of toasts with their meals. Service was okay. It was fine at first, but when it came time to close the restaurant, service sort of slowed down a bit. The worker took the credit card and took a while to make his way back to us which sort of had me worried a bit as it usually doesn't take long to swipe a card and give it back to the owner. She said it was, and she knows her stuff! Ordered the huevos rancheros, and I destroyed the plate (not literally) but clearly they had some good cooks. My siblings got the French toast, they loved it and finished it completely; although the French toast isn't a combo so you'd have to order a side of eggs, or what you prefer. I really didn't care for the potatoes at all. The consistency was gross even with them ordered extra crispy. I think either a real hash brown (thinner) or just home fries or potatoes would be so much better. My toast was a little cold and soggy, but I'm assuming it's because I was devouring my biscuits n' gravy. -- Bacon Scramble (no onions) w/ potatoes and bagel: The GF ordered this and she liked it. It was a lot of food. The bagel is just huge and she barely finished 1/2. In addition the potatoes weren't very good to her. The bill was around $30 because I ordered two items.
