Short stack banana macadamia nut
Amelea J.

Cool diner in a hipster area with nice aesthetics. I would recommend sitting outside to get the nice fresh air. The service was great and friendly. Our waiter was very attentive and was quick to fill up our waters and coffee. The short stack is great for the table, steak and eggs are always a great idea and the corn beef hash skillet was okay (probably wouldn't get that again). The star of the show is the damn bagel !! It was hot/fresh with a nice crunch to it !! Highly recommend it !!

This part of the menu says you can bring your dogs as long as they remain u see the table at all times!

Today my family and i had breakfast here, WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE! Not only is it beautiful inside and out, with plenty of seating inside or out, but the food is so tasty and delicious. I will be going back for sure. We didn't have a reservation, only took 15-20 mins of waiting for seating. Our waitress Alejandra was the greatest! Very polite and fast and understanding when it came to my daughter she recommended putting her preset in first that way she'll be busy while we order our food! Food is NOT over priced at all and well worth every penny! Not small portions either! Pancakes are huge so plan to take a box home unless you have a big appetite

Came to stacks with a friend on a Sunday morning. There was a market going on in downtown Burlingame so the area was more crowded than usual. I normally park at the Caltrain station - $5 for the day. It is pretty crowded inside the restaurant and staff seemed busy. The food was great - we each got pancakes - blueberry and banana macadamia coconut. The pancakes are HUGE - we each got a short stack (2 pancakes) and barely finished half. Got some sides - scrambled eggs and pork sausage - both decent. I tried their espresso martini and wasn't impressed - not much espresso flavor and very creamy. Overall was a great experience! I would definitely return :)

We usually come here when we're craving for that American breakfast comfort Food and it always hit the spot! Lots of choices for young and old. Just be ready to wait or sit outside. The reason why I only gave it a 3 is because when you're seated outside service is very slow. I know that they're busy but maybe they could add more team members during brunch weekends. They were really nice but lacked attention. Is that going to stop us from coming back? Definitely not.

Haven't been in years. What a great memory for me and my wife to be taken back and reminded of a place we have loved for years and years. 6 years living far away and wow great standards still. Service was top notch. Food was excellent and so well flavored. Beautiful decor in the restaurant and patio.

Great Food! Great service! Gabrielle was wonderful! On top of it. This place was very busy and they didn't slack off on anything. Close to the airport.

Perfect atmosphere to have a breakfast date with your loved ones. We love the Hot Link Skillet with a Diet Coke for brunch! Such a vibe and mostly super friendly staff!! We love stacks!

Came on a Friday morning for breakfast, it was pretty crowded but we were seated within 5 minutes, which was nice. What we ordered: Beaters Scramble : scrambled eggs with broccoli, zucchini, onions, celery, mushrooms, and diced tomatoes, served with a dry wheat bagel. This was a great menu opt for me since I wanted to get more veggies in. scramble was well-seasoned and bagel was decent, nothing fancy but a nice pairing. Chicken Fried Steak : Topped with ground pork sausage & mushroom house gravy, plus scallions. Served with eggs & potatoes. The chicken could've been a bit crispier (probably softened from the gravy), but the gravy itself was rich and flavorful with nice bits of mushroom. The potatoes were tasty and not overly greasy. Overall, a solid breakfast spot in burlingame! Portions are generous, service was friendly and quick, and the menu has something for everyone.

I really enjoyed this spot for breakfast. It gave a diner: brunch spot vibe. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They had alcohol with was a plus when craving mimosas. Service was great! Our waitress was very nice.

Good for what it is! It's such an iconic building that greets you into Burlingame when you arrive. The seating and place is so cute! I'm not raving about the food but it did its job for your typical american brunch spot.

I tried the applewood bacon omelette and it was really good with avocado and salsa. I read Stack's cooks with animal fat (beef tallow?) instead of harmful seed oils so that is great. The blueberry waffle is calling me next time.

Have been wanting to check out Stacks for a while but haven't had an opportunity until now and boy, were we impressed! I called ahead on a Thurs to ask how busy they were and if there was wheelchair accessible seating and the staff who answered the phone said they weren't busy at all and tables were available to accommodate us. (I was calling on the road and we were about 5 mins away ;)) Upon arriving, we found lot parking that was adjacent to Stacks and luckily, there were a few disabled spots available. Upon entering the restaurant, my wife and I immediately had 'throwback' feels for this place. The decor and ambiance clearly brought nostalgic vibes for us and really showed us how long the restaurant had been around. Cintia, our server, was also super friendly and helpful; placed us in an area that was easily accessible for my wife's transport chair. We were seated at a very nice section so we could enjoy the atmosphere and decor. The food, in a word, AMAZING!! The omelette and crepe were huge portions and very tasty. Filled with enough ingredients, they should call it the Kitchen Sink LOL. Will definitely visit again, this time with our clan (about 15 ppl). Thank you for having Stacks, Burlingame!!

Huevos Rancheros

I tried my sister's huevos rancheros and I definitely regretted my omelet choice after that. The omelet was solid but the huevos had a great flavor. The service was quick but brisk. The decor was super cute and the Christmas touches really added to ambiance. It is a solid brunch spot but didn't feel like anything special.

I watched their reactions when taking the first sip, it was a lot of head nodding and thumbs upping to their friends so I felt like I had to go in and try for myself. Went in and ordered an earl gray matcha and my partner ordered a passion mango tea w boba. The matcha & the passion fruit was so good! The boba was chewy and sweet. I would definitely recommend coming and trying! I really wanted to try their strawberry matcha but I'm always so skeptical (I have trust issues w bad strawb matchas) but the earl gray was good, so maybe I'll try next visit. The interior was nice, menu was straight forward on the wall and on the check out table -- only thing is the description of the drinks weren't shown on the menus until you're on the self check out kiosk. I was curious about the sunny side up matcha thinking it was made with real egg yolk (which I thought kinda weird?) but the kiosk said that it was mango. You didn't really talk to staff at all & the drinks came out pretty fast! Would come back again.

This drink is described as matcha, milk, and Osmanthus Syrup. I didn't taste any of the syrup, the drink wasn't sweet at all, which isn't bad but I paid extra for the flavored latte rather than plain and it just tasted like plain matcha. It did have some flower leaves in it though? Which was unexpected as I would think a syrup would have been strained. You also don't interact with anyone here, you order on an iPad. The table I sat to wait at was dirty.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Sama…read morehits the sweet spot of delicious drinks, good space to work, and decent surrounding parking options. The Rose Cardamom Honey Latte surprised me because I LOVED IT. It reminded me of a Vietnamese coffee in terms of coffee strength but balanced by sweetness. I was scared it would be too sweet or one flavor would be overpowered, but you can taste everything and the latte is very well balanced. My drink came out super fast after ordering at the register, and the decor is super aesthetic. Lots of good seating options and there are outlets for studying or working.

Sama Coffee Shop in San Mateo understands that a café can be more than a place to consume coffee;…read moreit can be an exercise in atmosphere and appetite. The room is quietly elegant, its Middle Eastern influences expressed through considered décor rather than theatrical excess. There is an appealing sense of decorum here; a place designed to encourage lingering rather than turnover. The coffee is similarly assured. Turkish coffee possesses the requisite depth and bitterness, while the rose-cardamom-honey latte introduces floral sweetness and spice with admirable restraint. The pastries and sweets--particularly the baklava and kunafeh--provide a luxurious counterpoint without descending entirely into confectionery excess. At roughly $10-$20 per person, Sama occupies a sensible price point for an experience that feels considerably more considered than the average neighborhood coffee shop. Sama is, ultimately, a café with a point of view and that is increasingly rare. The service was designed to provide you with a feeling that you're like a beloved family member. Eager to answer all questions asked and make you feel like you're at home.

I recently had some pastries and bread from Backhaus delivered to me via 4 hour express air mail…read more Also known as my wife flying some back for me on a recent business trip to Burlingame. I can't really say anything about the atmosphere or service since I didn't physically visit this store. What I can say, though, is that Backhaus serves some stellar baked goods from everything I was able to try. Kouign Amann ($6) - This pastry has a nice tighter brioche-like crumb, clearly constructed without trying to be a croissant like so many other bakeries. There's an excellent thin sugar glaze melted on the bottom. It almost shatters like glass and is not too sweet. Sugar soaks into a pocket on the interior, creating a sweet, soft, almost pudding-like texture. (5/5) Almond Croissant ($7.75) - Really open lamination, airy and chewy. Cut in half and slathered with a dark brown colored almond frangipane. It's by far the darkest rendition I've seen and seems to have higher moisture content than most, so it soaks into the croissant, creating a soggy texture. It's also not strongly almond in flavor for some reason. The sliced almond on top powers the pastry far more than the filling. The croissant is good but definitely not my favorite. (4/5) Croissant Loaf ($22) - At first I thought this croissant loaf was really expensive, but I think it's well worth the price. Firstly, it's quite long. I didn't measure it, but I'd guess it's baked in one of the larger pullman loaf pans, probably at least 16 inches. The interior, while not having as large honeycomb air pockets as a normal croissant, still flake apart easily into layers. The loaf is compressed a bit from being baked in the pan, rather than having the freedom to openly rise. It's deliciously buttery inside, while the exterior is a dark golden brown that flakes apart. Unfortunately they bag the loaf up, so the exterior flakiness softens due to the moisture trapped in the plastic. It's still an excellent croissant loaf and it works wonderfully in sandwiches, as French Toast, and eaten just by itself. (5/5) I wish Backhaus had been open back when I lived in the Bay. I will definitely visit in person next time I fly down.

Wow what a find! We arrived and the line was out the door 15 min after they opened (a good sign)…read more All of their pastries looked so good, we asked the woman working which were top sellers and she recommended any croissant or scone. We chose the blueberry oatmeal scone, which was delicious, tasted almost like a cookie. Also got the raspberry coffee cake which was not my favorite as the raspberry was pretty strong and overshadowed the coffee cake. Finally got the breakfast sandwich which was my favorite item. To drink we all got cardamom lattes, hot. For some reason the drinks came out extremely hot, like I couldn't even pick up my mug without burning my fingers. After it cooled down for 10 minutes, it was really good but perhaps the baristas need to adjust their milk frothing temperature? The space is really cool, they have an upstairs section and if you sit by the window you get a nice view of the outside. They do not have outlets, so it's not designed to sit at all day and study.
