Unprofessional staff. They called yesterday to have us come in early because a bad storm was moving in. Fine. We got there almost an hour and a half early. Tried to explain something to the ultrasound tech about my father's recent surgery (he was the one having the ultrasound) and she rushed me and dismissed my concerns. Extremely rude. She also patronized my elderly father, said he was "sweet", made a joke about his "good old pull-ons" (his shoes) and giggled over things that were not even funny (e.g. taking his hearing aids out while having the scan) . How dare you treat my father this way! Would you tell the daughter of a 40 year old man that her father was "sweet"? No, you wouldn't. So don't do it with a 90 year old man. If she had a brain in her head maybe she would know that when someone with hearing aids lies down, the hearing aids start making a loud sound. Ageism was evident with this woman. Here's the thing: She was elderly herself. Definitely over 60. Don't treat the elderly like children. Don't giggle over things they do, and don't use elderspeak when speaking to them. It's demeaning. She'll get a taste of her own medicine one day because she's heading into really old age herself. She also told him to remove his mask. You don't need to remove your mask to have an ultrasound. Maybe she doesn't take covid seriously but we do. She had no right to tell my father to remove his mask. The woman needs to retire. If she's so worried about a storm rolling in, then don't live in Louisiana. Never heard of shutting down a medical facility because of a bad storm. It was not a hurricane. She was only concerned about herself and getting my dad out of there early so that she could go home early. I saw so many of the staff leaving while I was waiting for my father. Who's responsible for making decisions to cancel and/or reschedule tests because of a bad storm? My dog's veterinarian doesn't even do that. It's very difficult to get medical tests scheduled these days.......and you want to cancel it because of a storm? Irresponsible. Wish I knew that ultrasound tech's name. She needs to retire or be fired. At her age, there's no teaching her how to respectfully treat patients and their families. Besides, she's too emotionally unintelligent and immature to understand. read more
