As a whole, our family doesn't need to go to the doctor frequently (outside of annual follow ups) but when we do, we really do! Dr. Matta is the most compassionate and the most knowledgeable doctor I have ever had. I have been a nurse for 17 years and he is the absolute best all around doctor that I have met- and I've worked with some phenomenal physicians. I bring my kids to him when they have sudden illness and we can't get into our family doc, when kid broke his elbow (rare fracture and Dr Matta nailed diagnosis right away from presentation of pain. I highly recommend Tchefuncta Urgent Care. Dr. Luis Matta is exceptional. His professionalism, knowledge, and experience is among the best. He takes his time and genuinely cares about his patients. I brought my 6 year old in on Sunday because he was having trouble breathing with a lot of congestion. Dr. Matta gave him breathing treatments and a steroid shot and by the time we left his office my child was 10x better than when we walked in. Don't come here if you're sick, the hours sitting in the waiting room will make you feel much worse. There were only a handful of people in the waiting room while I was there, but still a wait of well over 2 hours. Not sure if anyone actually works here - if they do they should be fired! Dr Matta is the best! He fixed my foot, gave my son an annual physical, and TUC also did immunizations for my daughter. If today had been my only visit to TUC, then this would have been a 5 star review - hands down - after today's visit with Dr Matta. The office staff is very friendly too and also the medical assistant who took our vitals. However, 1 star has been deducted because I visited 1 week ago after having severe toe pain for over a week that wouldn't go away and was misdiagnosed as having gout without so much as 5 mins with the dr. She was in and out, didn't ask many leading questions, barely touched my foot and came to a gout diagnosis before X-rays or blood work. After the X-rays were done, she came back and told me it was probably gout as she had suspected, explained the prescriptions and then had a giggly "whispering" conversation with the MA at my door that lasted longer than my examination. Just having moved to the area and not able to get an immediate appt with a podiatrist, I decided to come back for a follow up and to also get a physical and immunizations for the kiddos. We saw Dr Matta this time around and today's experience was a 180 from the first. Dr Matta was soooooo thorough. Not only on my foot exam but also with my son's physical. He asked questions to understand my activities leading up to the pain, not just physical but also footwear. He described gout and the pain spot commonly associated with it which I did not have. My pain is limited to the joint without any surface pain or noticeable swelling. In addition, he explained that gout comes and goes within a matter of days. After another review of the X-rays, he confirmed that I had a toe sprain which can last 3-4 weeks. As far as the physical, this by far has been the most thorough physical I have ever witnessed. He did an excellent job, has excellent bedside manners, and the kids love him too....wish he had a family practice!!!! Boo hoo Anyway, I'd definitely return here for minor emergency treatment and would recommend this place to others. read more

Such a great place. Thorough exam by Dr. Matta, he doesn't miss a thing! Was seen very quickly! It's a rarity to have a Dr. listen to the patient these days, but this one does! Went to another place first and was misdiagnosed. So it was a potentially life saving visit for me. You will wait even if it is not busy. At minimum an hour in the waiting room. Not efficient at all.

Been a few times between my daughter & myself. We visited for a simple sports physical, ankle sprain, infection, flu shots, etc. Every time we've had great service. Staff is always professional. Any dr we saw treated us professionally (but not stuffy) and appropriately. I've already referred friends & family & would certainly do so again. read more

Highly recommend. TUC took us in with open arms and were prompt and knowledgeable. Staff, nurse, and Dr. We're all great! Left no stone unturned! And Dr even took time to give my son strict rules to follow so that he wouldn't get anyone else sick (Of course they never listen to parents). I would like to begin by disclosing fully my admiration for Dr. Matta (Dr. Matta is the original and current head physician, and I admire his work greatly). He is one of the most gifted urgent care doctors in character, knowledge, and hospitality I have encountered in all of the states I've lived in throughout this country. I am a young man who has lived on the West Coast for the past three years attending school at one of the best universities in the nation with regard to my area of expertise, leaving a 100 million dollar book of business behind at age 23 to head there, trying to recover from a horrific disability. In addition, I was facing demons from my childhood, where I was physically abused for ten years. This led to what a world renowned PhD in PTSD from Yale once called a hopeless case of the disorder. In addition, I have two other severe medical disorders which have led to my family and I spending tens of thousands of dollars in the past twelve months to treat in the best facilities in the United States. I've made a lot of progress, but the stigma is what leads to suicides in many people, including my own attempt in 2017 to end the suffering of this nightmarish combination of disorders. I work in the entertainment industry, and I had to change my look for a major music video filmed this week, which I wrote the song for, engineered, produced, etc. As all individuals moving to new states with severe medical disorders must face, I am in between doctors, as it takes up to two months at times to find an appointment. I have a very, very specific medical plan which I have followed meticulously just so I could wake up half miserable daily, rather than a total inability to survive- so it is imperative that I receive necessary treatment. Even one flashback can lead to a chain reaction with the other disorders, leaving me bedridden for months should it take place. It's a nightmare, but I stay grateful for my blessing... that is, as long as I don't feel profiled or discriminated against. As a civil rights activist, I find it repulsive, nauseating the way I was treated at this office today. There I was, a patient of TEN years +, going in asking for a very reasonable prescription for four days of a medication which treats last resort cases such as myself to prevent further flashbacks or months in bed. Immediately, I was looked at and shut down by a female I had not had the displeasure of acquainting myself with previously. I first asked if she could treat me for a similar several day supply for my hormonal treatment, and said no. I didn't even have a chance to get a word in, let alone call my other doctor to verify my lab results for her. I could live with that, had it been a legitimate medical concern. However, this was disproven by the simple fact that I followed up with the second medication, only to be shut down without even asking about a single symptom. Keep in mind, for the latter medication, I needed a four day supply for which people who have anxiety on planes are prescribed easily. I have had a suicide attempt, spent tens of thousands of dollars, the opinions of world renowned physicians, and have voluntarily sought help four times, all in the past twelve months for this disorder. I guess long hair for a role in a music video in the bubble of an ignoramus dictates whether a young man is sick enough, not the symptoms I was never asked about. I'd tell Dr. Hass, I may work in entertainment, but I know how to run a business, and my experience with you was the very antithesis of such practices ethically. I come from a family business who founded and owns a corporation which employs 2,000+ employees. She patronizing me for not dressing up to your bubble's liking at a medical facility is not grounds to ignore your duty to at least evaluate a patient's health. You judged a book by its cover, and you were cringingly prideful in your wrongful execution when you refused to even tell me your name, when I asked afterward. As a man who went in diagnosed as ill- I found a truly sick, "professional'" opinion. In my professional opinion, an immediate educational course on discriminatory practices should do. I just received a call from a credit agency that I owe an outstanding balance of $1,200.00. This is from Tchefuncte Urgent care when I went there because I broke my hand. I knew it was broken but they wanted to do X-rays. After the X-rays I was told that there was nothing they could do for me. Could not even set it in a cast! I was told to go to the emergency room to have them take care of me. I refused to pay because they should have to me from the very beginning that they wouldn't be able to help me. Now on top of my E.R. Visit from my broken hand, I have a very large bill from a company that decided they would take my money even though they couldn't help me. I will never go back here and everyone I talk to will know my experience. Thanks for nothing Tchefuncte urgent care. My family has been going to Tchefuncta Urgent Care for several years. The reality is, with a family of 5, medical issues seldom arise during working hours. We have been there for everything; strept, flu, pulled muscles, dislocated thumb, broken arm, and even a golf cart incident which ended up being a hematoma on the brain and a resulting trip to children's hospital pediatric intensive care unit. My point is, Dr Matta is not only well rounded but also extraordinarily caring and attentive. He actually sits down and asks pertinent questions. You never feel like you are being rushed or that he is just going through the motions. If you want a cookie cutter doc in the box that spends mere minutes on you, this is not your doctor! read more
