This first paragraph and the 5 stars is specifically about the service station. My vehicle was overdue for an oil change, and my wife complained about the tire light coming on. She called this station and the person said to come on in. She was quickly tended to, and the vehicle was ready in a hurry. We live just a few blocks away and had never had a reason to use the service station, but will definitely keep it in mind for future needs. The price was reasonable, service was good, and they turned off the oil change light and TPMS light. As for the gas, I've only filled up a few times because the price is high. I understand, it's the city and land isn't cheap, but for me, I am usually looking for a lower price, so it's only been during an emergency that I've used the gas pumps. But, it's nice to have a gas station so close by in case it's needed, which it has been a few times. read more

Its 6pm in midtown Baltinore and easily the worse rain storm I've seen in decades. The hail is golf balled sizes, trees are blown over, the roadways are like wading ponds, its booming thunder, its lightening and visibility is poor at best. Many drivers are pulled over and like eight other cars I pulled into BP to avoid having my windshield cracked, getting in an accident or worse. All of a sudden an angry man came from inside the building yelling, move! Out-out, get off the lot! After falling into a mammoth pot hole, I find myself I'm sitting here at this gas/service station after barely making it here with a flat tire. Every employee I've encountered so far has made me feel welcome, safe, and expressed genuine concern for getting me back on the road in one piece. I was taken care of right away. They brought me inside, out of the cold and even found me a chair to sit on while I waited. Their small gestures of kindness went a long way after a rough morning. I was grateful. They were all professional, not ever pushy, I never felt I was getting "the run around" or being sold into something unnecessary. They were straight forward, honest, and felt more like a friendly neighbor just trying to help you out than anything else. It was easily the best experience I've had with a service station and it made me want a t-shirt that says "I love my mechanic!" I got my tire replaced with a spare (there was a giant hole in the tire wall) and an estimate on a new tire that would be ready later today. I was out the door and headed home before I could even finish writing this review! All in less than 40 minutes including a missing tire lock hunt (oops!). Literally the worst. Their roof leaks, you can see it's rusted through. The pumps don't lock so you have to stand there with your hand on the pump regulating a certain amount of pressure to actually get gas. I stopped here in freezing rain conditions and literally held the pump while getting dripped on from their leaky roof. Was soaked by the time I got back in my car. A miserable experience. I've spoken up, to their attendant, about the non-locking pumps multiple times and they act surprised each time, as if this is the first time they have heard of it. read more

I've been getting gas here for 2 years. Then, I started filling up my tires and then eventually, they became my oil change place. They've done tune-ups, rotated my tires, changed my brake pads and even put on a new tire. Honestly, I'm slow to adopt a mechanic. But I've been really happy with these guys. I feel like they're straight with me. They're always really professional and finish before their estimated time. They're actually really nice guys and you know, that matters. St. Paul can be such a cluster sometimes. But that's not BP's fault! lol As long as you can be patient enough to tolerate the crazies that drive every which way through there, this is such a good downtown spot to get your car tuned up. This place is very close to my apartment, so it's often very convenient to get gas here. I've lived in this neighborhood for two years and have been here dozens of times. No longer though. Several years back, my wife's credit card information was stolen. The people at the bank said that one possible way this could have been done was that someone tampered with the credit card scanner at a gas pump. Ever since, we take our card inside the station to pay. We've done this literally every time we've gotten gas over the past 18 months (including at this location many times). The last time however, the guy at the counter gave me some serious attitude about how card purchases need to be at the pump. I told him to ring it up at the counter and to do it now. He finally did. We ended up at the same place this morning, and the guy did it again to my wife. I'm not sure what the problem is with these guys, but I'm not going back again to find out. It's beyond all reason that these guys suddenly can't ring someone up at the counter. Hopefully these guys will go out of business, and the location can be taken over by someone with manners. If I wanted to deal with people like this, I'd move to DC. read more

I've used this place three times now - for my inspection, to get a battery replaced, and now for break pad replacement. Every time they are super friendly and extremely quick! I am lucky enough to live across the street from this station, and on the morning the battery died I walked across the street to see if anyone could help. The dropped what they were doing to come across with me to my parking lot and check out my car so I'd still have time to make it to the train to get to work. I worked form home the next day so I could bring it over to be fixed, and when I dropped by that morning they remembered me and immediately got out the jumper cable box to come across the street and help me start my car so I could drive it over. A few weeks ago my car started acting up and making a terrible rattling sound. I dropped it off at 9am today and by 9:45 they'd called me back with a solution and reasonable estimate for the fix (break pads). I expect it will be back to me within an hour or so like usual. A really great business with helpful people and quality service! In my last apartment I lived across the street from a grocery store - Living across the street from a great mechanic is WAY better!! read more

Plain and simple, these guys can always squeeze me in to patch a tire or change my oil without an appointment. They're prompt and courteous and never give me reason to doubt their integrity... characteristics that most of us want in an auto shop. read more

Way back when, I got my beast inspected there, and they said "you can use some new break pads, but it'll pass" Now, the way i see it, they've got you by the cahones during inspection. it just isn't worth the time and money to argue the point. as a matter of fact, I've never passed an ionspection before, without them sticking ti to me over something. They are always very honest, the prices are unbelievably good- they've done a lot of diagnostic work, test drives, check-ups for little or no money- and very quick, I usually have my truck back the same day if not mere hours later. They are family owned and operated since 1972, and Jeff especially is a down to earth, humble guy who never tries to rip me off or upsell me. It's really hard to find a good mechanic who's trustworthy, affordable, convenient and did I mention trustworthy? I found that at the St. Paul BP. I started out letting them do oil changes on our family's two cars and found them to be friendly and reasonably priced. Eventually, we moved up to tune-ups, brake repairs, tire issues and other work -- and each time, I have been tremendously pleased with how quickly the work is done, how honest Jeff and his staff seem to be, how reasonable the prices and how well things get done. Jeff has often talked me *out* of doing work, or told me plainly how long I could wait before getting something done, even if that meant he was losing out on money. To top it all off, Jeff will sometimes call the next day after a repair -- unprompted -- to ask how things are going! And the station will also fill up your car while they're working on it if they notice you're low on gas! They are exactly what I imagined old-fashioned service stations used to be before they got co-opted by big, impersonal companies and assembly line oil change places. If this place is convenient for you, I would definitely recommend taking your car to Jeff. He actually cares about his customers and about doing good work for a fair price. read more

ive been getting my car fixed here for many years without a problem. three weeks ago i got an oil change and my breaks fixed. the first time i took my car on the highway i noticed my hood rattling and found the lock mechanism was broken. St paul bp was the only one to open my hood in the last six months. Being my busy time of year and the fact that i rarely drive on the highway, the only time my hood would rattle, it took three weeks to finally take my car back to bp. I explained that ever since i had work done my hood would not lock. The manager refused outright that bp had anything possible to do with my broken hood.Even though they were the only people to open and close it.
