St. John's Coffeehouse

St. John's Coffeehouse has rapidly become one of my favorite spots in downtown Covington. A great place to get a little work done, or to simply unwind and de-stress. The ambiance is chill, service is welcoming, and the coffee and treats are primo.

I was visiting Covington, LA and needed a nice little coffee shop spot to get some work done and it seemed St. John's Coffeehouse would fit my needs. This location is a nice spot in downtown Covington to enjoy some good coffee, some food and other beverages. They also had very fast Wi-Fi which made getting my work done far easier. St. John's Coffeehouse exceeded my expectations and I really enjoyed my experience here. Overall Louisiana coffee shops are often special places and this is another unique spot to enjoy your coffee, tea and other beverages and some food items at so you might want to consider a visit to St. John's Coffeehouse if you find yourself in Covington, LA. Delightful lavender lemonade on a hot spring day in downtown Covington. Great service. Relaxing atmosphere.

Iced Coffee in a styrofoam cup...welcome to the south.

I only came in for coffee, so my review of this cafe is somewhat limited. The staff was nice enough and service was prompt. On a Saturday morning, the place started to slowly fill up with townspeople shopping during the busy homecoming season. While many patrons came in in pairs, or with someone to share their coffee with, I was there alone while waiting on another appointment nearby. As a solo patron, I did appreciate their lending library, board games and the art hanging (for commission) around the shop to look at. I will for sure be back. Coffee was good, and I suspect the bakery/cafe offerings are much better earlier in the morning when they received fresh stock.

Barista seemed so annoyed that there were customers wanting to order coffee. I took one sip of my iced "latte" and threw it out.

The savory was so tasty and the blueberry lemon was delicious...and OBSESSED with the clotted cream that it comes with. I ordered a second pot of orange chocolate tea because it was that good, and can't forget my coronation salad which was wonderful - the chicken was so well marinated! Lobster bisque was tasty as well. I had all good things. And on top of it all, Grace was our waitress and she was literally the best. 10/10. Favorite Dish: Scones and clotted cream!

I've found the food service to be too slow (it once took almost two hours to prepare a piece of toast and poached egg), so personally recommend planning to come for the scones and tea. The scones are absolutely delectable with clotted cream and a lemon spread on the side. I like the classic ones, but there is plain, specialty, and savory (three choices) offered each day. You get two so can mix and match! The tea menu is EXTENSIVE with pages and pages of teas. For a flat rate, you can have as much tea as your stomach can hold!! They have plenty of decaf options too. This place books up fast, especially around the holidays! Plan to linger here a few hours with a loved one and really soak up all the joy of the experience. I never get tired of coming here and delight in sharing it with others!! Top favorite tea is London Bridge (a mix of nutcracker, vanilla, and almond). For fellow decaf tea lovers, I recommend also: vanilla almond, Belgian chocolate, mocha Rocha, rooibos chai, Oxford study, and Mountbatten blend. Don't miss the chance to take a photo by the phone booth on the way out!!
