Most of the other guests are very friendly, and we always leave making new friends. This is an AANR resort, which we like. First-time guests must complete a background check, which adds a level of safety for all guests and residents. There is a discount day fee rate for all AANR members and our entry fee for us as a couple was only $34.08. Non-AANR visitors must complete a background check each time they visit. The grounds are well-kept and maintained, and all of the facilities are clean. A poolside bar serves full alcohol, or you can bring your own and keep your cooler at the pool if you have no glass. The drinks at the bar are decent and fairly priced. The bar has a kitchen, and you can order from a limited menu. The food is decent and priced well. The front gate is attended, but we usually have to call when we arrive, and the attendant will meet us to check us in, collect our fees, and then open the gate for us. Annual members can get a FOB to access the gate unattended. Service can be hit or miss in the bar/kitchen. Dee Anne (sp) does a wonderful job and is fast and friendly. Another bartender also does housekeeping and is incredibly slow, so we have learned to avoid the bar when she is working. We will continue to return to Sunny Sands and recommend it to all our naturalist friends.

After reading what has happened with the hot tub gone, restaurant gone it has been ruined. Maybe someone else will find an area to open another so the hundreds of folks liked it can visit. I have a home in palm coast with a private pool and may start seeking others from Sunny Sands to visit and enjoy the wind and sun as we did there, once. Sometimes new owners don't get it, they buy because it was successful and they mess it up by killing what made it to begin with, sad.

I arrived here with pretty high expectations not all of them necessarily dependent on a high end resort experience but more towards a quiet relaxing setting with a beautiful view, a well maintained facility with full hookups that can accommodate my MotorCoach and great management. I stopped in at the camp store / office to meet the staff prior to just driving through I was a little surprised to see such a beautifully stocked camp store they have all the necessities and more. I was greeted by Steve and after learning a little about the ownership and a little bit of the history here I was offered a short tour to the lake view site I was interested in. This place is exactly what I was hoping it would be, small, quiet and well maintained, the road is rock based and well maintained as are the sites, the sites have great utilities, fire rings, the campground has a inviting swimming pool, a beautiful fishing pier, boat docks it's definitely a fisherman's paradise and being the lake is brackish they have blue crabs just waiting to be caught and incorporated into a delicious entrée, I have few in mind. Well after checking it out I couldn't resist making a reservation and booked an extended stay in April and was able to get the camp site right on the water, there no doubt I'll need to update this review once I stay here so there's more to come...

For the 2026 Fourth of July holiday, our family reserved adjoining RV sites and a nearby cabin at…read moreOcean Grove RV Park in St. Augustine Beach, Florida. One member of our group confirmed on June 30 that all of our reservations were paid in full. When we arrived on July 2, we were told by the general manager, April, that we had not "locked in" our reservations and that one of our adjoining sites had been given to another guest. We disputed this because our reservations had already been paid. Another employee, Ingrid, reviewed our reservation and stated that the site showed as paid. At that point, April ended the discussion and informed us that the adjoining sites were no longer available. As we attempted to explain our documentation, April said we were being disrespectful and called the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. When the deputy arrived, we explained that we were willing to move our RVs but needed the gate code to maneuver them out of the park. The deputy confirmed that we had not been given the information needed to move and instructed the manager to provide it. Because we had receipts showing our reservations had been paid, we also requested an immediate refund before leaving. The deputy suggested that refunding our payment would be the quickest way to resolve the situation, and the refund was processed. The entire experience was stressful and disappointing, especially after planning our family holiday around adjoining campsites. We expected better communication and customer service, particularly after our reservations had been confirmed and paid. Seeing the Good Sam affiliation displayed at the park made the experience even more disappointing because it did not reflect the level of professionalism we expected.

And loads of different types of camping/cabin rentals available. And a pool! This day I went just to walk the trails and it's amazing how you can feel so far in the woods while still being basically in a neighborhood. The trails aren't very long but plenty to see along the way. I liked the tree house trail and seeing the neat treehouses you can camp in. And the views over the river are gorgeous down the jungle trail. If you need to get out to touch grass, highly suggest this spot!

There was so much wildlife to be heard throughout the night including owls, woodpeckers, and what we think were crickets or maybe lubbers. The bathrooms and shower areas were very clean for a park/camping area. There are different trails to explore along the path to the treehouses, which we didn't have a chance to do. We suggest bringing a sheet or blanket to cover your mattresses. Each treehouse has 2 twin sized bunk beds (total of 4 mattresses). They are VERY uncomfortable, so if you need extra support, you should probably bring a mattress topper/padding. The grills were pretty clean, just need some dusting off before cooking, though, nothing out of the ordinary. Upkeep for everything was great!
