Like always, it took me about 20…read moreminutes or so to get fully submerged due to the lovely freezing water (Jesus!) but oh boy, it's soooo nice once you're in. It truly is a beautiful spring. There was a sweet boy standing near the part where the actual spring bubbles up. He was 14 and he was literally welcoming everyone who came near him. He's very passionate about Salt Springs and said he's been going there since he was 8. What I loved most about this spring is that for the most part, it is not deep. You can walk around fine in it. Beware of some slippery rocks though. I still brought my noodle because some of the springs nearby are real deep and I'm not a very good swimmer. The parking area has several gorgeous huge trees with low branches making it a beautiful spot for pictures. They have several picnic tables and camping sites. We paid $13 for 2 adults. There are good and bad things about this spring, but I really would give it a 3.5 if I was able. Good: --- The staff is friendly and attentive. --- Picnic tables are plentiful, clean, and tucked under shade trees. --- Charcoal grills available --- Walkways are cement or wooden, making it easy on people with mobility issues. --- Restrooms on site (I thought they only had port-o-potties!) --- Trashcans are plentiful & not overflowing. --- Love being able to swim to the cave and crevices to see the spring boils --- Great for snorkeling, so many fish (not kinds of fish, but number of fish) Not so good: --- Price. $14.50 per person is absolutely ridiculous. --- Needs changing rooms. It's gross to change in a tiny bathroom stall. --- The water got pretty cloudy, and lots of debris near the walls. --- When I got out of the water I felt like the water had a smell and it was on me. Other springs I feel refreshed and clean. --- The steps are super slippery --- They make a big deal on signage not to bring oversized floats, yet said nothing the SUP that came in like the Titanic among fishing boats. Plenty of staff walking around to catch that. --- Lots of limestone rocks, but they are covered with mossy growth. In many places it is too shallow to swim over, but too slippery to walk to the deeper part. (I know it is a natural feature that can't be changed, but for the price...you need to know) All in all, we did have a fun day. This was our first day of vacation, so if all of the springs are cloudy for some natural reason, I'll come back and edit.

Seeing various wildlife was a daily event: gators, turtles, kingfisher, herons and a wood stork. The campground is small and remote. The sights are narrow and short. It has mix of FHU and E&W only. The park's electric and sewer does need some work, our sewer connection malfunctioned, but they did repair itright away. Also had inconsistent power, our GFCI kept tripping. (Never happened before or after). So the ground may have been a problem. The closest full service grocery store is a Winn-Dixie in Crescent City, Seville does have a Dollar General. Local Restaurants: Pierson Family Diner- good home cooking. Idle Awhile- nice bar, good food, indoor & outdoor seating on the lake and live music.

The trail is a nice walk through…read morethe Ocala Forest and takes you along some points of interest such as a very large sinkhole and an old family cemetery. There are also supposedly some homesteads, but we didn't come across them during our time there. The website is a little off when it comes to showing which numbers on their map match the numbers on the posts for points of interest. Part of the trail is pretty sunny so make sure you have your sunscreen and other sun protection if you need it. Once you get into the main part of the trail, you'll find more shade and it's a nice, peaceful walk in the woods.

If you head south on the Florida Trail and head left at the fork you will find a nice giant dry…read moresinkhole. Makes for a great camp spot. Camping is permitted anywhere in the forest once the general gun season (hunting) closes...in 2014 that was January 4th. If you head North instead there is a nice campsite by hidden pond. These are remote areas with no facilities of any kind. Just the way I like it!

The park has a pool and hot tub, Both managers were awesome and very welcoming, The road leading to…read morethe park is short but rough, the managers fix them but the next rain tears it up again, They are doing upgrades, they keep the services running and respond to maintenance issue immediately. The bathrooms are cleaned daily, but some campers are not very sanitary when using the facilities, but the bathroom is clean the following day. They have laundry facilities that are a welcome sight, The sites are roomy and well maintained, The electric has been upgraded recently, This is the only RV park that allowed me to stay with three miniature dogs, Most parks allow 2 dogs only less than 60 lbs. They have a lot of permanent campers, they are nice campers. The managers keep a good handle on things and are on top of any issues. I would stay here again.

My group brought 140 high school students for a weekend retreat. It was perfect for our large…read moregroup... private and everything was set up for us before we got there. The dining hall and meeting spaces worked great for our breakout sessions for team building. The lake was great too. the kids loved canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. We really liked using the wide open sports fields around the whole camp, we did a big field day, and everything was provided by Orange Springs. Cabins were clean and mattresses were surprisingly comfortable. We decided to use the ropes course with the climbing wall and were very impressed by the facilitator, safety, and fun. Best of all, our kids(and staff!!!) absolutely loved the food. Shoutout to Chef Kevin... Best camp food ever! We will absolutely be back next year :)

What a beautiful little piece of Florida's history ! This old fish camp has recently come under…read morenew management and renovations have begun! Sites are clean n park is neat. There are several old trailers on the property that are lived in full time but most of them are landscaped and in good repair. Didn't go over to the bath house but it looked ok from the outside. We stayed on sight 407 right out on the point with water on three sides. Site 510 has a great view to! And especially for $40 a night! Most other sights were less expensive but we chose the one with the best view. We'll be back soon to explore this quaint little town of McIntosh which has 68 sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places that are all within walking or biking distance.
