I must admit, I was lured over by someone else's photo here on Yelp of a blueberry donut, so thank you for that ;) It was mid-morning when I arrived, so the cases reflected that the most popular items had been snatched up by the early birds, but there were still plenty of donuts and bagels to choose from. Best of all, there were still blueberry cake donuts to be had!! Donuts are similar to potato chips in that you can't just get one. I also ended up with a maple old fashioned and a raised that was dipped in maple glaze and further adorned with Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal. I'm saving the old fashioned for tomorrow (I figure of the 3, this one will do best on the second day). The blueberry cake with blueberry glaze was perfect with my morning coffee ~ I'd definitely pair these two together again! The Cinnamon Toast Crunch raised was light and fluffy, the cereal giving it a nice added crunch, and it was a much appreciated afternoon treat. The girl working the front of the store was very friendly and didn't look at me funny as I started snapping pics of the shop to go along with my review. When she finished my transaction, she went over to finish chatting with a customer. When I noticed a few ceramic coffee mugs hanging on the wall, I asked if they belonged to their regular customers. Indeed they were, one of whom she happened to be chatting with. Gotta love that! I left Donut Chain not just pleased to have scored a blueberry glazed donut, but also happy to witness the genuine, easygoing rapport that the employee and customer were enjoying.

These are hands down my favorite donuts. The Maple Sea Salt, Apple Fritter and the Blueberry are my…read morego-tos, but to be honest everything is great here. The gluten free options are also equally as good and have a good texture. Not to mention the owners are just overall good people. In my short time at the shop, I was able to witness how rooted they are in the community.

Since the little guy goes to school near Avalon, we haven't been coming here lately, but when my better half had a birthday wish for a breakfast burrito, it was the first place we thought of. I ordered online and it was VERY easy. I got a breakfast burrito with egg whites, chose ham as my meat and was able to customize (example: less hashbrowns and 1 extra salsa on the side) to my liking. I also ordered a maple old fashioned because why not! I arrived at YLS and was greeted by someone right away. Told her about my order and she had it all ready. Total aside, I did notice that they changed the signs and it looks really good. The whole place looks lighter, brighter and cleaner. I will definitely be back!

Portions are generous and their scones and donuts are really good too! They also make a decent cup of coffee. They have a small amount of seating inside and outside. Service is usually friendly but I have had a grumpy person helping me before. The restaurant itself is always clean and has cute decor. I will say the only thing I have gotten here that I didn't like is the egg salad sandwich. It had all of the ingredients I love but it was not mixed well so the flavor was off. Still, this will be a place we come because we like it so much.

Stopped at AK's Donuts today for the first time. Read several reviews so was anxious to experience…read morethe donuts there. Unfortunately, when I got there (about mid-morning) most of the better donuts were gone. I did get a crumb donut that was very good, and a chocolate filled which also was good. I guess my problem was paying nearly $5.00 for 2 donuts, and it was at a walk up window. Coming from Oregon, and paying about $3.50 for 2 donuts, I can see why people are leaving California. The cost of everything is out of control. Like 3 chili cheese dogs at Weinersnitchel for $12.50. It just nuts!!!

BEST DONUTS EVER!!!!!!!!!…read more I grew up on A.K's. Donuts. My Dad would bring me here before school and we would have a donut together. Now as an adult I still stop here when in town just to taste the sweet memories. That is exactly what my wife and I did last week. I picked out a Apple Fritter that I ate so fast, I never even got a picture lol. As always there was apples in every bite. I also had to get a cinnamon roll because they are the best. The cinnamon rolls here are coated with a good amount of glaze but it isn't overly sweet so it is good. They don't skimp on the cinnamon either. My wife had a Bear Claw (her fav here) and could only eat half so I had to do my duty and finish it. The thing melts in your hand when you even pick it up. The bear claw looks big and heavy but it is light, soft, and just plain good. The apples inside are just a bonus. Prices range from .80 cents, .85 cents, .95 cents, and $1.25 for donuts. You make your purchase at the window (no inside entry) and they clearly display all the fresh donuts they have at the moment in the window. There is some seating outside if you are lucky enough to grab a spot from one of the regulars but I have eaten most of my fair share right in my own car in the parking lot.
