I am a music lover and I do love going to this amphitheater. It's a wonderful venue for music. They book a vast variety of music and artists. Something to please every music lover. I just saw Duran Duran there last night and, in the past month, I also saw The Steve Miller Band and Robert Plant. I've been here for many shows in the past 10 years. It does get hot under the covered area in the summer. If you are hot-natured bring yourself a fan of some sort. You will thank yourself and so will your neighbor. Outside in the open isn't so bad except you will be subject to any rain. All to be expected. Seats at the outside rim of the covered area will not protect you from rain. It drips down onto the seats. Luckily we were able to move down and out of the rain that one time we experienced it during Judas Priest. Parking is awesome the Elks Club next door has parking adjacent to the amphitheater parking area. Down the road is parking near the lighthouse with buses running people back and forth to their vehicles. It's $10 to park. I can't wait for the next show. read more

Had a great time at this venue. We saw billy idol and had a rockin time. Only complaints would be holy crap it gets hot in the summer so it can be rough at a rock concert outside and the other is the drive out there. However it's a good venue and a fun time. read more

I have seen my share of concerts at many different venues around the state. I am by no means an expert, but I like what I like, and was pleasantly surprised by the St. Augustine Ampitheatre. This venue is not as big as the ampitheatres in the West Palm Beach or Tampa areas, which was a nice change. There were no crowds to push through, no insane lines for the ladies room. The food and beverage vendors were not your typical stadium type vendors, it looked like some local businesses were peddling their yummies. Reasonable prices as well! And yay for the local beer selection! Since this is a smaller venue, there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. There's no lawn area, and the whole seating area is covered. But it is Florida, so be prepared to sweat! I am no expert, but from what I could tell, the acoustics were great as well, as I didn't feel like the music was over the top too loud, for it being a live performance in a smaller space. My only gripe would be the parking situation, as there is a lot you can park in, but you are better off parking in one of the lots down the street. I can't imagine trying to maneuver through the crowds of people to get out of their lot onsite. There are also pedicabs riding around, if you don't want to walk the 1,000 feet from the lots to the entrance. read more

I had been told by a handful of people that the St. Augustine Amphitheater was a nice place to see a concert but I was still very impressed when I finally got to attend one there. I saw Matt Nathanson and Gavin Degraw a couple of weeks ago and could not have had a better experience. The friendly parking attendants got us a great spot (very easy to get out of at the end of the night!) even though we arrived after the concert had started. Our seats were almost in the very last row of the place but it worked out nicely as there was a great breeze off the ocean. We could see the lighthouse and the sunset during the concert and it made for a very nice atmosphere. The volunteers that helped us find our seats and lit up the stairs for us when we left were great. The top section made for some very amusing people watching as well. We had stopped for dinner since we had come straight from work and did not realize just how many food and drink options there would be. We even got a friendly "have a good night and get home safe" from the security guards as we left. Oh, and the music was pretty good, too! I'm looking forward to hitting the amphitheater for more concerts in the future. read more

BEST venue for music, shows, acoustics. It is open air, but mostly covered and can be quite hot when the humidity roars. It is easy to enter, exit and park if you arrive early and if not, there are many other lots w/ a shuttle. The food and drinks offered are simple, but also include fish tacos, wine, better than Bud beer. Some really great talent bookings. read more

Great place to see a show!! Great sound, friendly ushers, not a bad seat in the house. Plenty of nearby hotels along the beach, or historic downtown is just a few miles away (bike or cab or bikecab it). The best place to stay seems like it would be camping at the state park which is connected to the venue - walk to the show and then back to your campsite! Sounds perfect, but the park has been sold out everytime we've tried to combine a show with camping - recommend making reservations early! There is a great hostel in downtown St Aug - Casa Yallaha, we have stayed here multiple times, it's walking distance to historic downtown and just a few miles from the amphitheatre and they have private rooms. read more

Seriously y'all, this is one of my favorite outdoor venues in the Southeast- definitely top 3 material. Yes, it's super small, but we like to call that intimate, right? Maybe it's all the Spanish Moss hanging from the Live Oak trees. As you walk down into the amphitheatre, all the trees hang over around the edges in a way that makes it uniquely North Floridian. The trees seem to keep the sound in and it sounds surprisingly great for an outdoor venue of this size. There's a fair number of seats that are covered, and some that are set above the main entrance. Yes, they are a bit further back, but sometimes, it's nice to catch that beachy breeze on a hot Florida evening of rocking. Another big plus, is that the staff here is always super friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there. I didn't see any of those crazy, you-stepped-over-the-line-and-you-must-plant-your-feet-directly-in-front-of-your-seat ushers here. Everyone was respectful and chill and I appreciate in a venue. There's pretty much your normal fare of concert vending items, with the additions of a handful of Florida craft beers in one of the tents by the entrance. But here's where things get super exciting. There's a tent that has been here the past few times I've been at this venue, that seriously has the most delicious pina coladas and or daiquiris and or a mix of both. Combine both flavors in a yard glass with an extra shot for the win! The vendor selectors are doing something right with this booth, so I hope to continue to see these guys here. Also they're form JAX, so I like seeing my 904 peeps in there. Another big plus, is the proximity to Saint Augustine and to Saint Augustine Beach! For me, this venue always means a beach trip as well. Now if you're into camping, there is the adjacent Anastasia State park, that has quite reasonable rices on their accommodations. If you're coming for a concert, it's best to book way ahead, as it gets filled up, depending on the artist. Otherwise, there's tons of hotels along Saint Augustine beach that are a ride away. That said, the cab services in this area, leave much to be desired, but thankfully car sharing has made its way to Saint Augustine. So to sum it all up, I just love it here!! Not only a Southeastern fav, but of my favorite venues ever!! read more

This was my first time at this venue. Very pleased with the concert, availability of food/drink, and the parking. Your ushers and staff were very helpful as I was there with my mom who can't climb steps. I will say that charging for a cup of ice is pretty excessive. Water is a human right and there are even laws about that. As a cultural consultant, I would suggest that your public-facing staff not point when giving directions. It's extremely offensive in many cultures. Also, this is the south. I kind of wanted to try to get a set list from the show, but was shut down by a guy about 1/10 my size. I asked him how many concerts he had been to. The response was quite funny. read more

First of all, we love the amphitheater ! We had the displeasure of attending the Bob Dylan concert recently. You could not understand a word the man was singing I left after 25 minutes. It was a sold out event, he did not speak to the audience thank them for coming introduces ban etc. It goes down in my record book as the worst concert I've attended. I emailed and asked about a refund with no reply from the office or general manager. I believe they owe everyone that attended a free concert ticket of their choice. read more

This is a great venue for a concert. It is large enough to get great acts, yet small enough to have an intimate feel. All the seats are pretty good, for the view and sound. Parking is easy along the road, lots of folks allow you to park in front of their houses for a fee. You can tailgate out there before the show. read more

Great job to all of those involved with the renovation and operation of this great Ampitheatre. I remember hearing a few years back that a major concert act was going to appear in St. Augustine, and I laughed... you didn't hear about ANYONE coming to this town, let alone a major act, but they have booked them time and again, and St. Augustine has a GREAT venue to catch awesome shows. The seating is arranged in four large sections, the first three are located under a large canopy (great for those midsummer shows which always bring those afternoon thunderstorms), while the upper deck is uncovered (and much cheaper). There is also a pit area for most concerts, where you will not get a seat, but get a very good up close and personal look at the concert act, and probably get to get some drinks and high fives from the performers. The chairs were roomy and comfortable, with LOTS of room to maneuver around. I was very impressed, as there were a lot of folks there to see Toby Keith (which was the concert I attended), and it was never overly crowded in any one area. I never had to wait in line to use the restroom, lines at concession stands were minimal, and there were plenty of areas to walk around, check out the show, relax, and enjoy the night. The acoustics of the place are great. The bass is booming, the sound crisp and clear, definitely loud and rowdy, but not in a blow-out-your-eardrums kind of way. There are a few video screens behind the stage and to the left and right, letting you get a good view of the performers and crowd shots. The seats are leveled just right, giving EVERYONE a great view no matter where you sit. The concessions are pretty good priced, too. Only $6.00 for a large beer, that's not too bad for a concert or sporting event. I was turned onto "the bucket" by some friends. For $12 bucks you get a large sand pail sized bucket filled with delicious rums and juices that will get you in a dancing mood REAL quick. There are mostly beer stands around, but they do offer up hard liquor and frozen drinks at a few spots, as well as some snacks, and the usual t-shirt / merchandise stand for whatever person is performing. I really can't overstate what an amazing venue this is. I am so glad I attended this concert, and I will definitely be back many times, Any time I hear about a great act coming, you can bet I will be there- and you should be too. Check out the concert listings (they only have them during the summer) and stop in for a lot of fun. This place RULES. read more

We purchased four tickets for nearly $400 several months ago for The Beach Boys Concert this past Sunday night at 7pm at the St Augustine Amphitheatre an outdoor venue. I am retired and have seen The Beach Boys in Concert seven times. Really wanted my two Daughters to get to see them. We live in Jacksonville. We're watching the weather all day Sunday as it was really bad rainy, windy and turning colder. I called the concert line that I bought the tickets from and asked if the concert was going to be presented as the weather was so bad. They assured me we would get an EMail to let us know. At 6 PM there were tornado warnings just north of Jacksonville it was raining cats and dogs all the way on a radar line down to Daytona. Being older we were not going to sit in the rain in a dangerous weather situation for a concert and we thought it was definitely going to be canceled/rescheduled. We cannot believe that the Concert went on in the inclement weather that evening. We lost nearly $400 on that incident. I bet lots of area people lost as well. Something should be done about this. I will never book for an outdoor Event again. Terrible! read more

St Augustine Amphitheatre is an outdoor concert venue that is located close to Anastasia Park. The parking was full long before the concert began and seemed to be designated for Preferred Patrons that had paid extra for parking. They do offer free parking with a shuttle service down the street. The property next door offered parking for $20 and had a walk thorough that put you close to the entrance of the entrace where the tickets are presented. There were food trucks just outside and several beverage vendors as well as a few additional food options. When we arrived we were about 1 hour early and it was easy to get in and the empoyees and volunteers were very friendly and helpful. The acoustics were excellent and the view was good (we sat at the far left of the stage on the isle Section 100). Leaving was also easy and not too much of a wait. We are from Miami so we made a weekend of seeing a concert and we would return back to see a concert. read more

First time I've ever been to the amphitheater, most likely my last. Don't let their 'rain or shine' policy fool you, that simply mean you won't be getting a refund whether they have the full show or not. Paid full price for two tickets only to wait 2.5 hours due to the weather. The rain cleared up quickly but they wouldn't start the show until there was no lightning in the area. The show only lasted an hour, 30 mins per band per set. And on top of it all they weren't even serving food or drinks at all during the delay. What a joke, save your money don't waste your time with this venue. Wish I wouldn't have driven down from Savannah for this. read more

I've seen three concerts here and they were all a wonderful experience. Located in scenic St. Augustine, Florida this place is a hidden gem for experiencing concerts. There's ample parking and it's very easy to access the location. The staff is efficient and friendly and always willing to answer any questions you might need answered. The bathroom facilities are adequate. The food and beer is what you would expect for a concert venue as far as quality and price. There isn't a bad seat in the house. It's a fairly small and intimate space. The best part is after the show you can be back in your vehicle heading home in about 10 or 15 minutes. Overall this is a very nice place to see a concert. read more

I recently went here for the first time to see a concert. It is a nice, intimate setting. There were plenty of volunteers to help people find their seats, parking, etc. It was easy to get in and leave. I know in Tampa I have spent an hour getting into the Ampitheatre. This is a great place to see a concert. Just saw 311 last night and it was amaze balls....and brutally hot. If you go and see a great band though, you don't even care that it's 105 degrees out and you're sweating your butt off. If it's a sold out show, make sure you get there early. They have parking on the premise, but it fills up. Next door they have parking at the elk Lodge. It's a pretty close walk and only cost me 10 bucks. Total winner. But there have been concerts where both lots were filled and I spent so much wasted time trying to find parking across the street in someone's yard. Not very ideal, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get to that show. All the seats in the house are great. If you're in the 100 or 200 section, it's covered. 300 section...tough nuggies if it rains. Sound has always been good. Almost every show I've been too, something always glitches with the mics or guitars. Not sure why, but it always gets fixed quickly. There is a sound ordinance too, so shows have to end at a certain time. So make sure you're not standing there waiting for a second encore because it's probably not happening. read more

SAA is a nice little venue with not a bad seat in the house and pretty decent acoustics. However, parking is a definite issue so if you don't want to get stuck paying $10-$20 to park in someone's yard and walking a ways (depending on who's yard), get there early. Also, whatever you do DO NOT sit in Sec 301, row FF between seat 2-20 because there is a frickin wall in front of you right about eye level! Poor design SAA! How 'bout a rail there instead...Dirka! read more

Not only is this venue beautiful, they have the kindest staff. We needed a wheelchair to bring our elderly mother to an event and they were of incredible help before and after the event. Wish we could have told them a hundred times more how much we appreciate everything they did to allow her to enjoy the show! read more

BACKYARD STAGE... I love the Amp, have been to many fine concerts there. This is a review of the Backyard Stage, which is part of the Ampitheatre, for small intimate outdoor performances. WARNING if cigarette smoke bothers you at all, don't waste your $ on a ticket, the audience smokes like STOVES at the Backyard Stage, you cannot get away from it. I saw Turnpike Troubadours , great show, but ruined by clouds of billowing smoke, I did not see any no smoking signs, so apparently this is policy. read more

I saw Alice in Chains there this past weekend. I've traveled around and have been to many outdoor amphitheaters, but I have to say that this is the best one I've been to. The sound is fantastic and I had a great view even in the "nosebleeds" which weren't that far back at all. It's a very well built concert venue and I'm lucky to have it so close to home. read more

Great open air venue. Better than average food and drink selections and the crowd cleared out so fast after a concert! Loved the intimate feel of the space, I don't think there's a bad seat to be had. Fair warning the pit chairs are pretty small and zip tied together so you can't try to find more space. Not for the large of derrière such as myself. Tons of legroom in those seats at least. I do wish there were fans or something to get the air moving during the summer. read more

Went to this venue on Saturday, Mar 25. Their website, their Facebook page, and a Youtube video bragging about FREE parking on event nights. Arrived Sat night and there was not free parking. Some excuse was made. Everybody had to scramble for spots in their lot and pay $20 when everybody expected to pay $0 for parking. I had $22 with me to buy drink and food, left with $2 and couldn't even buy a water after paying for parking. Why scam all the people who bought tickets and expected FREE parking and did not get it!!! Don't encourage and state on your website and social media with maps of where the free parking is located and stating that a shuttle bus is available ever 5 minutes to take people to the venue. Liars!!!!!!! read more

There are no words to express how much appreciation I have for the St. Augustine Ampitheatre and the amazing hard working staff. I'm sure many people think as I did that working at the Ampitheatre is a cake job, and employees get to see amazing shows and hang out with the Rock Stars. It's quite the opposite. The hard working staff, and the dedicated volunteers work long hard hours to make sure we all have an amazing experience. They don't get to hang with Rock Stars and enjoy the shows because their behind the scenes working their asses off to make sure the guests have the best experience possible. PLEASE !!! Next time your enjoying an amazing show please take a moment to thank, the volunteers, law enforcement officers, CSC security, and most importantly the and Amazing staff for all their hard work. Went here for winter wonderland last year. It was cute for the kids, and fun for the people who could afford to eat or drink but other than that pretty boring. Seems like a nice place to go for a concert but there are no concerts for like 3 months during the winter according to their online schedule. Bummer. read more

Saw Bob Dylan last night. First time here since the old Cross & Sword performance. Venue is absolutely fantastic! Seats in the 300 sections were still awesome. However, more lighting is needed in the parking lot. And logistics are a bear. Come early or have a really good back up plan. read more

I seen a couple of concerts here. And the artists make the evening fun. The amphitheater is just a place to sit. But I've got a real beef on their ticket policy. They sell sponsorships for $500 and up. This gives these expensive sponsors access to buy 8 or so tickets a couple of,days ahead of general ticket sales. And they've sold enough sponsorships to essentially sell out before the general public gets a chance. Countless times I check on the first sponsors day and find resale sites loaded with scalped tickets. Usually four. Which means the sponsor buys eight for say $50 and then posts four of them for greater than $300. This is just wrong. They have a bold warning on their site that says brokers wont be sold tickets. Now how in the world do they think they can enforce this?????? I guess it's time to support state legislation restricting some of these practices. SAA, please get real. You've got great acts coming through and due to the size you sell them all out. But your fleecing concert goers. It will catch up with you one day. read more

This was my first concert at the Amphitheatre. Outlaws, 38 Special and Styx all gave wonderful performances. We paid the extra $10.00 to park in the main lot which is worth the price. Everyone working or volunteering there were nice and helpful. Lots of options for food and drink. The concert was sold out but hardly any line to the restrooms which were clean. I will be going back for sure! read more

They allow the first row ticket holders to get right up to the stage, which prevents those seated right behind them to only see their butts. Spent the whole night looking at some women's big butts. The pit seats should not be flat on the floor. They should put the chairs on an incline so you can see over the idiots standing in front of you for the whole concert. read more

We recently attended our second concert at this venue (Styx, Outlaws, .38 Special), and once again had a great experience. We were running a bit late so paid $20 to park at someone's house across from the venue. The show was sold out, but all lines (drinks, restrooms, etc.) moved very quickly. Great staff, and once again great sound. Looking forward to seeing another show at this venue. read more
