Took a newly purchased (used car) in for an inspection and to fix a couple known issues…read more They did not preform an inspection at all, but still charged for it. When emailed asking why there was no inspection report given with the receipt they sent an incomplete, still in progress while my car is at home and verifiably false report. Did not check the CV at all that area is left blank, lied about the cabin air filter being good and about the brake pad life, did not mention anything about a gouge in one tire sidewall or the AC not working. I am not a mechanic so who knows what else. Driver side wheel well trim was busted and they attempted to blame the towing company, zero chance it was them, zero accountability. They also charged 5% 'shop supplies' which amounted to almost 80$, but they wiped grease on the trim of my car so im not sure what 'supplies' were consumed changing my struts(parts were seperate), certainly not shop towels at a minimum. When asked for a list of 'supplies' they needed, they did not provide it and instead claim all shops charge this. Sinclair auto did not charge it just a couple years ago. 5% hidden fee essentially. Charged nearly 10$ for 2 new lug nuts, not a single one was brand new upon receiving my car. I dont mind a used nut but if youre charging near 5$(per!) it better be brand new as claimed. And to top it all off not even one week later the check engine has come on, I wanted peace of mind with an inspection and they lied about checking the vehicle, infact not a single issue was found besides the ones I told them were already known. The only good thing to be said was the work was prompt, completed the day after drop off. That will not be enough to make me return. Used to be a great shop, never had a problem for many years and even recommended Sinclair auto to a lot of friends and family, the new owner is not living up to the name. I will not be returning, will be telling everyone I can about my experience and recommending against this shop.

Updating my review…read more Still coming to Chase and his team at Gate Avenue Service - I think we've brought 4 vehicles here now over 10 years. First and most importantly, Chase and his team are honest and hard working. They are extremely busy but always make time to diagnose and give second opinions. They have saved me money and given me solid advice multiple times when dealerships were leaving me astray. Most recently Chase and his team helped me to advocate (aka fight) Hyundai to get a replacement on my engine. Chase provided me all the documentation that Hyundai required not once, but twice, and in paper and in e-mail after Hyundai "misplaced" it. Chase did both of these requests same day. Chase has seen me at my worst (in tears) completely overwhelmed with car stress (and I don't speak car) and also completely flustered trying to explain what felt off with my vehicle when I seriously was not describing it well. The team at Gate is always courteous and treat me and all the customers I have ever seen with respect. The only limitation or downside with Gate is that they are really busy - and for good reason! So you may have to wait a bit for an appointment but they will always treat you right! PS They offer a program to store your tires for you! All of our dealings during that time have been with this company's first point of customer contact, that being Chase, the Manager. Chase has mastered the art of making clients feel welcome as soon as they enter the premises. I can easily say that Chase has provided top notch,first class customer service to us. They found the issue, called me and told me my best option would be to take my car back to Canadian tire because this issue should be covered under warranty, Ricks Auto Service didn't even charge me for the diagnosis of the problem. They should have hundreds of reviews, but their rating got so bad they had to start from scratch again. Bought a car from them 4.5 years ago, absolute nightmare, had a deal with the salesman to buy a brand-new Insight for $30,000 plus the 6.7% interest only. The shady finance department butchered the first contract up so bad, they had me owing over $48,000. After revisions, they then, conveniently forgot to change the bi-weekly payment from $267 bi-weekly to roughly $225 bi-weekly. I pointed it out to the girl in finance, and she said, "it's been already sent off to the bank, but ensured me that with the larger payments, the term would therefore shorten from 7 years to roughly 5.5". It made sense to me, so I believed her. OK, in retrospect, believing her after trying to overcharge me the first time, wasn't smart. But never thought a large auto maker like that would try to screw someone over a second time after being caught the first time. But hats off to St. Albert Honda, because they pulled it off. It's kind of like being warned by a referee for bumping into the other teams goalie, nodding in agreement with the ref, then punching the goalie in the head the minute the refs back is turned. Long story slightly shorter, I still have $11,400 still owing on a $30,000 car loan after paying $267 bi-weekly for 4.5 years of a supposed 5.5 year term. No matter how many auto loan calculators I used, including Honda's, I should only have roughly $6500 owing. This particular bank no longer deals with St. Albert Honda, and I can see why. Run the other waaaaaaay, unless you have an extra $5000 to spare!!!!!!

He stands behind his team and the repairs that they complete. He always squeezes me in when I am in an "emergency mode" with my car. Contacted Mar automotive to have a van I was interested in buying inspected before purchasing and…read moreshipped out to an other province. They looked over the van but didn't bother with the full inspection because it was in such poor shape that it would not pass any out of province inspection unless 8k of work was completed. They also did NOT charge be for this service! They saved me 1000's of dollars in repairs after the seller assured me the van was running great, no problems and would be good to drive across Canada. The take away here... 1.Never Buy a vehicle without having it inspected 1st. 2.Never trust the seller, people can not be trusted nowadays! :(

Update: I received no response from this location to my original review. An independent mechanic…read morehas since inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the brake rotors are warped. I also asked Midas last week to provide copies of my previous invoices but did not receive them. My understanding is that any applicable brake warranty would cover parts only, leaving me responsible for the labour charges. Given my previous experience and the lack of follow-up, I have decided to have the brake repairs completed elsewhere. I am sharing this update so other customers can make an informed decision based on my experience.
