I've been a lifelong jersey resident and I cannot believe I didn't know about this place. But of course once I mentioned it to my parents they were like "oh yeah, we know Damask ! They're delicious!" If I remember correctly, the nice girl at the counter was telling me they've actually been there since 1950. It's completely family owned, homemade candies. And let me tell you this chocolate is absolutely delicious! And so nice of them to offer samples at the counter. I've never had a sea salt caramel that tasted so good. And the chocolate covered pretzels are to die for. My mom absolutely loves the buttercream, and my dad is a toffee fan. But you cannot go wrong with their signature "Candy" which is actually oyster crackers dipped in chocolate. You absolutely have to try this place if you pass it. They are only open from October to Easter so get there while you can! I wish I remembered to take pictures, but we ate the candy too fast lol. Next time!

And it changes each season so you really can learn about greeting card history by looking at the cute details of the art and the postcard. Chloe was very kind and she knew the history behind a marshmallow caramel chocolate that they sell, especially at this confectionary. Another thing I like to pick up is one of their gingerbread cookies. They are hand pressed and I just feel so spoiled to get to enjoy this beautiful and very special cookie. The end of block looks like city blight, hope some new businesses locate here across from the Penn Station walk up area. The chocolate is not inexpensive and quite small for the price/value. That did not stop me from buying a few items that quickly added up to $50. Upon tasting them, good not great compared to European chocolates. Oh well, good to support local businesses and enjoy some sweetness along the way.
