One of my dear friends, and I had dinner last evening, and she surprise me with a gift of dark chocolate mints from this store! She saying their praises. She lives in that area and says she uses different items from this store as gifts all the time. I'm so glad that I was a lucky recipient last night. These mints are melt in your mouth. Delicious! I have the dark chocolate mint and, one mint is the perfect size for a sweet treat. I love to support a locally owned small business, and although I've never been in the shop itself, you can definitely tell that the items they sell are made with love because the quality is so good. Stopped in one afternoon for some ice cream. While my mom used the restroom, I spent time reading the menu board in the dining area and got excited about a unique flavor listed there. But when we got in line, I realized the flavors being served didn't match the board. I asked about the one I had my heart set on and was told, "It's not out today." That was a letdown--it felt like they could've gotten it, or at least updated the board to reflect what's actually available. There are actually two Bomboy buildings. The candy store is across the street from the ice cream shop, and didn't look open. Maybe it was but I didn't see anyone near that shop the entire time we were across the street. The ice cream shop is weird inside. There are two main areas, separated by a narrow hallway. The section where you buy the ice cream is small and cramped with people. The dining area looks like they just moved in, but it's looked like that for at least ten years. There aren't enough tables, and one whole corner is taken up by bales of bubble wrap - like to the ceiling. It's not very welcoming, but it was too chilly to eat ice cream on the porch. There are many delicious ice cream flavors to choose from, and a variety of cones. We got a cup of caramel flavored ice cream with a caramel swirl and cashews. It was amazing. I also had a Raspberry truffle milkshake that was tasty, but could have been a tad bit thicker. Jeremy had a cotton candy milkshake, too, because he can't resist. Came here for ice cream after a day at the park. They have a plethora of flavors, but I got the butter pecan in a waffle cone (it was too much for me to finish, but sooooo good). The black walnut fudge was the least gritty, but all were gritty. The maple was the most gritty. ... I'd purchased fudge from Bomboy's in the past, and do not recall its having had a gritty texture. It was smooth. This all had a finely gritty texture. It was disappointing. That, along with the extreme prices makes is unlikely that I'll stop in at Bomboy's during any upcoming visits to Havre de Grace. read more

This place was a nice little stop after being on the water tonight. Their ice cream with chocolate pieces are made with the candy from the store across the street. I highly recommend the Peanut Butter Crunch. It doesn't have too many toffee pieces and the peanut butter chunks are pretty big. I think if you order a single, but want hot fudge on it they change it to a double, so keep that in mind. Their hot fudge wasn't worth the extra ice cream in my opinion. They have seating outside at cute little tables. It can get pretty busy inside (even 30 minutes before closing), but they do a good job of keeping the line moving. Still, putting on some of that hard-to-find PPE is a good thing. As to the ice cream, I tried a flavor called something like "chocolate overload" I think, which really lived up to the name. There were fine flakes of chocolate and a rich flavor throughout. I ate it slowly. The mint chip I was less impressed with; the mint flavor wasn't nearly as strong and the chips not that numerous. The waffle cone I added was nothing special. I didn't see anything about dairy-free or sorbets; pretty much straight ice cream here. I would choose this ice cream over soft served any day. There are so many homemade unique flavors that you can't find and regular ice cream shops. The ice cream I had this evening was a vanilla cinnamon swirl with snickerdoodle chunks. The snickerdoodles were freshly baked and the ice cream was freshly made. It really doesn't get better than that. The girls who work there are so kind and great under pressure. When we walked in we were the only people in two minutes later the entire place was packed 30 minutes before closing. But the workers were consistent and very nice. Not only that the ice cream shop is so close to the waterfront park, it makes it perfect for an evening stroll. And if ice cream is not your thing across the street they have a candy shop! Stopped here with a friend while in the area. It was an extremely hot day and we were both craving ice cream. Their location on the main street was convenient and street parking was easy to secure. It was pretty crowded the day of our visit and there was a nice wrap around porch as well as inside seating. The staff were young and plentiful although the ordering process was a little scattered and a free for all. You had to walk past folks ordering or waiting to pay. There was room for improvement for sure. They advertised that their ice cream was homemade and some of the flavors were unique. One flavor they had was kettle corn which I've never seen offered as an ice cream variety. I tried the raspberry oreo and although ok it wasn't exceptional. It had more of a milk taste than actual flavor of raspberry. It wouldn't be a flavor I would order again. Cost for a small one scoop cone was $4 and some change which I thought was a bit much. Employees here are super friendly and despite the 9pm closing time continued to serve all the customers who were waiting in line past closing. Lots of tasty flavors and generous portion sizes. There is some space to sit down on the other side of the building opposite where the ice cream is dished out. Bomboy's also has a delicious chocolate/fudge/candy shop across the street. This is where we spent most of our time. We wanted to pick up chocolates but they close at 6pm and we had a 6:30pm scheduled cruise, so our chocolate would melt if taken out before the trip. The staff kindly told us we could leave our purchase at the ice cream shop across the street and pick it up afterwards before 9pm. After hearing that, we bought a giant non-parial (milk chocolate, multicolored "dots"-very rich and high quality milk chocolate), a cookies 'n cream cup (sort of like a Hershey cookies n cream bar but in cup form with a giant oreo in the center. Much tastier than Hershey though), and an assortment of 10 chocolates for a friend. Everything was reasonably priced and we sampled the fudge too which was delicious! It was a very hot day (6/19/17) and we were enjoying visiting a few spots in Havre de Grace. Service was prompt and polite, and the one-scoop serving of raisin rum ice cream I had was very generous. The ice cream was excellent and seemed to be high quality. The display case flavor signs were easy to read, but the way the 6-8 customers in front of us were lined up it was tough to get a good look. I would highly recommend this as a great place to get ice cream if someone is in Havre de Grace! Though I wouldn't specifically to go to Havre de Grace for this ice cream, if you're in town it's a nice stop-off for your day--I will be back. read more
