Edit: Received a reply from Squid lips/owner and was completely disheartened that it still did not include an apology. Although the official police report clearly states I was not responsible, It would be nice to know this establishment would be willing to claim culpability for their mistake. The amount of emotional turmoil I endured that evening is what they're failing to address. Around 6 o'clock on a Friday night my boyfriend and I went to squid lips to eat a nice dinner with friends and family. We ended up getting their early before everyone so we put in our names and they told us it was an hour wait. We decided to go to the bar and grab a drink. There was only one seat open so we thought we stand and order then go back outside to enjoy the view. As we waited for the bartender I didn't know what I wanted so I grabbed the drink menu to the left. I told my boyfriend he's going to ID us so better grab it now so we don't have to make him wait while we riffle through our things. The bartender comes, we order, pay and head outside. Family shows, we get seated and ate. We say our goodbyes to family and walked out. This was 3 HOURS LATER from the time we arrived! We are presented with a Detective that flashed his badge to my boyfriend and I saying he wanted to speak to us. We think nothing of it and say okay no problem. He states to me "We have you on video stealing money from the bar". At first I thought it was a joke but he repeats himself. We demanded to see the video that's trying to incriminate me of said "stealing". I also told the detective I have no cash on me cause I do not carry it due to the amount of theft in FL (the irony). He proceeded to tell me that I just ate so I probably paid the bill with it. As it turns out MY FAMILY PAID- THE FEW HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL ON HIS CREDIT CARD! 4 cops show up to the scene of the supposable theft of $80. They proceed to bring me in the back and show me the video and I answer all of their questions as I'm crying but with no problems. From the back camera you can clearly see me grab directly to the left for the drink menu and the black book that they said I stole from was at the top left. But because a camera from another angle makes it "look" like I was opening a check book (when I was actually reading the drink menu) and that I went into my purse (TO GRAB MY ID AND CREDIT CARD!) they were accusing me of theft. I'm completely sobbing at this point because I think I'm getting framed for something I took no part in. For almost AN HOUR the cops harassed me, read me my rights multiple times and were not asking but telling me I took the money and that I'm going to court. While I'm sobbing cops are laughing with their partners as if it's a joke to them. Oh! And while I was inside getting yelled at and harassed for something I didn't do, the detective was outside telling my family "it's just a miss understanding she'll be out any moment". So after about an hour of the cops tell me "I'm free to go... for now". The next day I called the Sebastian police and got the report. It turns out at THE WAITRESS MOVED AND OR TOOK IT BEFORE ENDING HER SHIFT! And they found that out by backing up the video a few minutes more. So to recap, this restaurant waited for my family to spend $300+ on food, called the cops (4 of them) before talking to the the rest of the staff and watching the video back a little better, blames a patron for stealing, DID NOT EVEN APOLOGIZE AT THE TIME OR A WEEK LATER WHEN THEY HAVE MY NUMBER OR COULD EASILY GET IT! I'm so disappointed and have never been so embarrassed! It's not their fault that the cops harassed me and I will be filing a civil complaint but it is their fault that they didn't do enough communicating before accusing someone for stealing $80 then not even apologize on our way out. read more

One of the most scenic spots to enjoy a cocktail and great food! There's a mini-beach out back with tables where you can sit and watch the boats zip by in the intercostal waterway. Super laidback island vibe. Staff are very friendly. The food is always really good. I recommend any of the fish sandwiches, especially the mahi. The prices are super reasonable for quality fish. Great for all types of people, from families to friends looking for a fun happy hour. read more

If you want food served from the freezer come here! Typical bar affair and it's loud. There's better places that you can go to and pay less than go to squid lips. It's just not that appeasing. Also the drinks were watered down. read more

My wife and I were intrigued by the name so we decided to go. We ordered drinks and their enchiladas. We were unpleasantly surprised to find that the portions were very small for the price they were charging and told the manager. We found the place to overpriced for what you get. read more

I often have lunch here with my Pastor. We like to sit outside and enjoy watching the river--sometimes you get to see dolphins. The food is good. I usually have a burger and I have found them to be delicious, their kitchen is inventive. You also can't go wrong with most of the seafood selections. We have also gone to Sunday brunch--very nice spread and usually good live music. Speaking of live music, they have bands several nights a week, though I've never gone in for the nightlife. I used to complain that they use a slogan like "where the locals meet and eat"--as a local I thought they were benefiting from me, but since I've been eating there regularly, I guess it is true. read more

Has to be one of the worst restaurants I've been to in quite a few years, there prices are on the ridiculous side the service was OK. My wife ordered coconut shrimp which was way over done I ordered conch chowder and there was no conch in it. I saw that they had a prime rib special but it wasn't available till 4:00 pm, which I understand. But then I was told that I would have to eat it in the dining room I asked why do you care where I eat it. And was told that's the rules. If I paid you for a prime rib dinner why do you care where I eat it. If I want to eat it on the patio or on one of the beach tables instead of the dining room what should it matter I still paid the same exact price for the same meal probably one of the worst marketing decisions I have ever seen. Needless to say I my wife and I won't be back. No wonder every told me you went to the Squid Lips. read more

Atmosphere is great! Food is ehhhh. Nice spot to hang with friends, have a drink and socialize while listening g to live music

The Bimini bread which they start you off with is Sooooo good. The taste of coconut in the bread is awesome.. A more savory style bread with sweet coconut. Yummy, warm, soft and satisfying. Oh, would you bring more, please! The meals we had were done right. loved the atmosphere. read more

This place is awesome! Amazing water front seating, great prices, service, and live music some nights! There is plenty of parking and they have a Bloody Mary bar! read more

This is s great place to chill after work , relax with good music, live bands, awesome wings, burgers, etc! Exceptional view of the intercostal where water craft can stop in and have a bite! Staff is excellent! Sandy beach with tables are available as well! Had another great with awesome band! If you like to dance and have good food , This Is The Place!!!!!! read more

View and atmosphere was great, service was horrible, shrimp was raw and the conch fritters were doughy in the middle.

Honestly, I go to squid lips often and although the service is usually never above and beyond, tonight was the worst. It's not even the weekend it's Wednesday night we went about 30 minutes before close, which if the restaurant is open until a certain time it should be open until that time. We got there sat down, it took 20 minutes for a server to come and greet us, after we waited she told us the kitchen was closed mind you, it was before their closing time & on top of that the reason it was closed and we didn't make it in time is because we had to wait forever to be greeted. So she offered us bar drinks still and we accepted we waited another 20 minutes for drinks and we sat to enjoy them because that's the least we could do, about 20 minutes after close the server comes back up and says "guys she's getting ready to spray these tables so unless you want to get wet" and smirked. So not only did it take forever, we were treated like we were being pushed out after not even getting to just atleast enjoy our drinks. Very disappointed and frankly will not return. read more

It breaks my heart to call out one of my favorite restaurants. When dining there a couple nights ago, I actually used the suggested tip amount on the bottom of the receipt. My bill was $40.23 The suggested tip amount for 18% was $8.54. Now usually Tip on the amount before taxes... I was in a hurry and saw the 18% Suggested Tip amount and proceeded with that. As soon as I got on the road I got to thinking about the numbers, and it made no sense to me. The service was great and I felt she deserved 18% but what they calculated out was really closer to 21%. Always check the math! read more

Love the atmosphere and the bands here. The food is O.K. and there are lots of great choices. Careful who have have for a waitress, they inattentive, and downright rude at times. I am not a fan of two menues one for outside or the bar area and one indoors. When you eat indoors the menu is much better but you can't hear the band. We wanted to sit outside near the river but had to go indoors because there was nothing on the outdoor menu we wanted. Happy hour is only for the bar/outdoor area. Somebody needs to change this! read more

My fiancé and I are pretty regular customers for their lunch and dinner menu. Food is always good, drinks are reasonably priced, and the view is one of our favorites. They have a wide selection that can meet almost anyone's immediate needs. We took my mom here while she was visiting and she is gluten free and was very impressed as well with the selection. Prices are also pretty reasonable for the amount of food that you get. I have always had excellent service and have always been able to get a seat outside. The atmosphere is great and the parking is easy and plentiful (which is always a plus for me!) In terms of lunch and dinner, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, however we tried their Sunday brunch and were not very impressed. Although the Bloody Mary bar was a pretty unique feature, the selection was limited and they do not offer bottomless mimosas like many other staple brunch places do. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone for lunch and dinner but would say there are better options for brunch in the area. read more

Squid Lips - Seafood Near Me - Melbourne, Florida

The atmosphere was on point with beach you Florida themed. The wait staff was ehhh but the food was awesome! We have the blue cheese and balsamic homemade chips! You should try them if you're a blue cheese fan. It was a little disorganized outside. We wanted to sit in a beach chair and they are the only "seat yourself" tables in the restaurant and it was a little crazy to find an open table. read more

Came in by boat with my family. Food an drinks where great but the stand out was the hostess Lexi! She went out of her way to accommodate our group. Great work people like that are hard to find! Go see her! read more

We always enjoy ourselves here. We like to sit in the sand, especially when there's a band playing out back...Makes us feel like we are on vacation! Veggie burger is very good and I like their house-made chips. We've always had great service and I don't think we've ever had a bad experience. read more

If this place wasn't on the water it would be out of business. Frozen seafood, bad drinks, inside smells like a dirty mop.

Nice beer selection and good bands. The food wasnt bad but it wasn't great either. I was especially disappointed in the fact that they use a lot of disposable plastic and foam items. We had a large group for a birthday party and they could've used an extra server. The server we had did a fantastic job though. I also let us bring in a birthday cake from outside but gave us tiny foam disposable plates. read more

I ordered the chicken and pineapple teriyaki and the maple sweet potato. The presentation was lovely but the sweet potato tasted burnt and re-cooked, and made me feel sick. The chicken was burnt too much, with char on it that was a bit over bearing. The pineapple was ok, but it should have been grilled as stated in the menu. The orange garnish was the only thing that was right which was sad because well it's the meal I came for, not the garnish. On top of this the hostess was rude and looked at me like some vagabond and tried to seat me outside when it was 84 degrees out and midday. I told her it was too hot for that and she got annoyed. I asked to be seated inside and they didn't even give me silverware! I had to ask for it. The server was nice enough about the situation though so I give 2 stars, one for her being polite and one for the nice presentation of the meal, and of course the orange slice. read more

I like the location on the water and the building facility. The food was just average, I had hoped for more. None of the things we ordered was special. I think this is a very nice place to enjoy some drinks outside on a nice day. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It was edible. My son had the coconut shrimp. They were over cooked, and the dipping sauce was very sweet, it appeared to be concocted from orange marmalade that had been thinned with coconut milk. again much too sweet. I had the grilled grouper with black cherry sauce, again this was overbearingly sweet. The grouper itself was a little on the dry side. My wife had the stuffed flounder. She ate about 20% of it before deciding it just really wasn't for her. We also had the 12 ounce New York strip steak. It was ordered medium. It came out more on the well done side. It had a remarkable amount of fat and grizzle for a strip steak, it was about $22 and was way over priced for the quality. We had fried calamari and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers. The calamari was OK, however it was served with a store bought jarred marinara sauce. The bacon wrapped scallops were underwhelming. They were cooked properly, however they had no flavor other than the bacon that they were wrapped with. The bright spot of this visit was the location. It's right on the water. The coconut bread was spot on and really good with the butter packs it was served with. I would also like to say that our server did a good job taking care of us. It's a shame the food wasn't as good as the service. The moral to this story is choose your meal wisely. You can really run up a tab that is not commensurate with the level of quality this restaurant provides. I think you would be well served to choose the more moderate dishes on the menu and the leave the higher end seafood to place well known for quality. read more

Cool restaurant, if a little kitchy. I got the Mahi Reuben, which - while maybe not the greatest Reuben I've ever had - was quite good and unique (at least to my Minnesota taste buds). The Coconut Onion Chips were very good as well. The building itself is really nice (we would have loved to sit by the waterfront if it weren't so windy on the day we were there) and the service was great too! read more

This review is purely based on happy hour. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. We ended up sitting at the indoor bar. Service was excellent! They had great specials on both food and drinks...$1.50 domestic drafts, $1 off wine, specials on peel and eat shrimp, raw oysters, etc. Great river bar vibe. We will definitely be back soon!!! read more

I don't know what all the hooplah is about. I found this place to be as boring as the town it's in. The food was not memorable and the service on the outside deck was average. I was disappointed because its on the water and gives the illusion of cool ocean front dining. I don't know what I was expecting, it's a middle of nowhere town. Yet another reason why I am totally elated to be back in a major city. read more

Fresh, delicious grilled local catch and mediocre sides at a high price. It seems to me about five dollars per entrée over there going local rate. So, I give 4 stars for the freshness and tastiness of the local catch as well as for the cool ambience. Be prepared to spend for the ambience and local food. read more

Good live music. Sucks closes so early. Bar service was great. Self seating on the beach. Great views. Definelty the place to be

Great! Love that they are in the old Conchy Joe's location and saved the building. It is a fun building. Has some character which really lacks in this area. Clams as appetizers were excellent. We had a problem that the pipes above us were leaking and we were getting rained on!. The manager addressed it, (the servers appeared to not know how to handle)moved us, however our server abandoned us. They were busy, but it was something that he needed to manage. Either give us to the server in the seating area or remember that we moved. He literally never came back and then didn't acknowledge it or apologize or offer a free dessert when we insisted that he return. It is all still a new change, but with a few tweaks to polish their act, it is a great outing. read more

Dirty, sticky , food was cheap, I'm not gonna be returning, other people seem to like it , go see for yourself

We liked it - a very nice restaurant with good food and a fun atmosphere.

Very interesting layout... Squid Lips sits on the water in what appears to be several buildings combined into one. It leads to a somewhat awkward layout when you're going from one part to another, but it does allow the establishment to wear several hats. If you want food, they obviously have a restaurant. If you want to lounge next to the water, they picnic tables and cornhole set up out back. If you want live music and dancing, of course they have that too. Unfortunately for them, nothing really stood out. The service was indifferent, the food just okay, and the bar/band catered towards an older crowd. Check it out just because there aren't many other options around there. read more

We were very excited to go back there, and it was a complete disappointment. I can see now where the other reviewers are coming from.. Everyone - from hostesses, to several servers were pretty bad. I don't know if they all were having a bad day, or the first time we just got lucky, but the second visit was definitely our last one. Not even the view is worth having such bad service. The food wasn't the best either. read more

This place is my idea of a great place for " bar food " lunch. The appetizers are fabulous! The smoked fish dip was good, coconut shrimp better, ahi tuna tartar best. Places like this are why I love to vacation in Florida. read more

The boy and I had a very memorable first night in Eau Gallie because of this little gem. Ordered the crab cakes and coconut shrimp to split. Perfect amount of food, delicious and the mango sauce for the coconut shrimp was out of hand. And the coconut bread they bring out was different, but really delicious. We were pleasantly surprised to see they had a live band playing that night as well. After dinner, we decided to check them out (Classic rock, pretty good!) and were again surprised to see an entire beach area with seating, corn hole boards and fire pits right along the water where there was a gorgeous sunset happening. Our service was great, certainly ask for Lisa. read more
