I literally just redownloaded yelp just to write this review. Let me start by saying I work in the service industry. I am very understanding and low maintenance when going out to eat. I know what it's like to be in the weeds. But I'm sorry this place sucks when it comes to both food and service. Waiter was older lady I think her name was Kelly. Not sure. Terrible service. Ordered beers. She forgot them. they came finally after 15 mins warm. Ordered oysters, no saltines or cocktail sauce. Ordered chowder. No spoon. Our server never once stopped in to checked on us. We had been at the beach all day and were really hungry but after the service I told my husband let's just go to another restaurant. The onlyyyyy time she came running to us was to drop off the check she never showed up to charge the card. We had to go to the host to close our check. when she saw us at the host stand she ran up to us with a credit card machine and her exact words were, "I have other tables to tend to". Girl, what? We are your table. One of your 3 tablessss. What actually happened was that she had a 6 top outside that she thought she was going to make more money off of. She wasn't in the weeds, she had 3 tables at the time. First time in my life I ever gave someone a zero tip. I'm mad I even spent my money here. After I left I called to speak to the manager and he seemed like he really didn't care about customer service either. Will never step foot here again. Whack. Save your money we went to longboards at the crown plaza over looking the water and it was such a good time. Live music and great food. read more

This restaurant has potential with the location, however... IF YOU HAVE ANY DIETARY CONCERN or like your food a certain way, DON'T COME HERE. I ordered the fish taco appetizer on a corn tortilla. When it came out, I was surprised to see fried and battered fish on the taco as the menu did not reflect such. I happen to have celiac and could not eat the tacos. I requested fish tacos not fried, the server spoke with the manager who REFUSED TO MAKE ANY CHANGES OR SUBSTITUTIONS. So, now I'm stuck with this taco meal that was not listed as "battered and fried" that would make me literally sick to eat and all the business can say is "we don't do substitutions here". Bad business. Bad practice. Bad customer service. Sadly would advise to avoid this place. Rather, go a bit down the road to waterfront Frigates where the food is always amazing and the customer service is spot on. read more

This was our fourth time here. I have mixed emotions about this place. First off if you set out by the water, it is nice and relaxing. And the food is good (not amazing) but good. My problem is the staff is so slow and act like they don't care. My wife and I had to leave. My daughters said it took over 45 minutes to get the check. They all most walked out. As my daughter said. You can't get drunk here. Because it takes and hour to get a drink. Not: on the menu in small print. The restaurant charges every customer 3 percent tip for no tipped employee. I so looked forward to going to Squid Lips, I had always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Last night, 9/19/24 - was terrible!! Perhaps they have changed the kitchen staff? I ordered "Our salad" - which I have had multiple times before and loved - last night it was unedible. The signature vanilla vinegarette dressing tasted like it had been scraped from the bottom of the trash - there was nothing pleasant about the taste! One of my companions ordered the chips with balsamic and blue cheese crumbles - she sent it back because the balsamic tasted "stale;" she ordered a replacement dish of queso and tortilla chips - that too was unedible - queso was cold - ice cold, chips were too salty to eat. They brought her regular potato chips instead - they were soggy. All in all, food wise, we were terrribly disappointed and left hungry. The music was great!! read more

YOU SEAT YOURSELF AND IM OKAY WITH THAT!!! I got here at 4:15pm got a excellent table by the water. Don't eat here! I feel bad for the employees. The food is horrible and I'm guessing the menu hasn't been updated in decades. The fish, shrimp, and burgers taste as if they were grilled on a grill that has never been cleaned. Plan to hit the McDonald's drive thru on your way home. You're not going to eat your entree. Our server Sam was lovely and doing his best. It's not his fault. This place is a disaster. This is an addition.. realized when I got home they charged me for the entree that I sent back. I live down in Boynton but we drive to Cocoa Village occasionally and when we do we eat at Squid Lips. Was there the other day on a Saturday night. Place wasn't crowded when we got there at about 7pm. Wife and I started off with the conch fritters which we thought were great. Ask for the cocktail sauce if you don't care for the sauce that normally comes with it. Was a nice sized portion. For our mains wife ordered pulled pork sandwich that came with chips and cole slaw, I ordered the hamburger with crab cake that comes with fries. The combo of the crab cake and a burger really tastes great and makes it like surf and turf on a bun. The gal who served us was terrific and the view from the covered patio to the water and the island makes for a nice experience. Definitely worth going to and there's a pier you can walk on that goes over the water if you just want to relax after your meal. read more

Our server, Lauren, was super nice and very good at what she does. Aside from being sat by a party of about 20, she still got us everything on time and never appeared stressed or bothered. Love this place! Located right on the river's edge with a small beach area for outdoor dining, it's the perfect spot to grab drinks and appetizers and enjoy the central FL coast. On weekends there is live music, and if you're not having a big meal, you can skip by the hostess desk and slip back to the beach bar area and seat yourself. We are new to the area but for the first three weeks we've been here--- we somehow find ourselves out in back with cold beers enjoying live music with a breeze! Highly recommend the place. Delicious! Fries Calamari was well seasoned and came with plenty. We also tried the fish tacos. The fish was perfectly cooked. For our entrees we had the Stuffed Shrimp with rice and the Cajun Keys Combo with garlic mash. Both very tasty. Finished the meal off with banana cream pie. Very yummy! We walked around EGAD and decided to pop in for a drink and a snack on their deck. It's a pretty large restaurant. There is seating on the deck and in a beach area with tables and umbrellas right on the sand. The view is great. Our server told us that the you could get the Voodoo drink as a bucket for $1 more. I was sold and it was a very tasty and refreshing rum punch. We ordered the smoked fish dip which comes with packaged crackers with 2 in a pack and very small containers of raw red onion, jalapeno, and tomatoes. The dip has good flavor but it's a little runny. It was a windy day and it was hard to control all of the wrappers and napkins from flying away. But such is life in the great outdoors. read more

We sat outside and that was the best part (the view + it was relaxing). We had a conch appetizer and the pieces were big and tough. The "Our Salad" that I had was pretty good. My husband enjoyed his buffalo chicken sandwich. My only gripe was that I paid extra to have my drink in a coconut (I've had drinks this way plenty of other times, it's fun and gives the drink a more "fresh" taste); the drink came out in a styrofoam cup placed into a dried up old coconut. The coconut had a dingy sticker on it saying you could take it home and use it as a piggy bank and I was just grossed out by my beverage and straw being placed in a re-used old coconut. We came to squidslips bc my sister was visiting from Colorado. Im a regular there and love to sit outside and thought my sister would enjoy as well. My fav bartender is Carlie and was happy to see her behind the bar. Carlie was very busy, but like always, she said hi quickly and got our drinks. Living in Melbourne a year now and finally got around to visiting Squid lips. Went for a late lunch with my husband and 2 adult children. It was 3pm when we walked in and it was empty. We sat in this depressing looking back room that faces the beach. Our waiter Jorden had no personality and had a difficult time smiling. Clearly he had no clue how to make money! We ordered 4 apps and 4 entrees. All were a disappointment. Coconut shrimp are definitely a frozen product along with the rest. Nothing tastes fresh or even looked appealing. We didn't complain about a thing. Our waiter ignored us while another server working next to him was all over her tables refilling drinks etc. We finally get the bill and what upset me more then paying an extremely high bill is paying a BULLSHIT 3.8 percent service fee! I asked the waiter about and his reply sounded like a bunch of shit!! A SERVICE FEE!! for what?? So they don't raise prices on food. WE WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK!! read more

Sad to have to downgrade my 5 star rating. We specifically returned for the clams on the half shell and fried clams. Sorry to say the clams on the half shell were disappointing at best. It's rare to get clams without a small bit of the occasional sand but these were beyond sandy! Each clam left a gray puddle of sandy clam water to the point where my husband could hear me chewing on the grit. According to our server they used a new clam vendor and won't reorder from them but still, that didn't help my experience. Sad to say I won't order them again from squid lips. Gorgeous location on the water in Eau Gallie just across the bridge from where we're staying on the Satellite Coast. Loved sitting on the bar deck overlooking their beach and the water. Saw some fish jump ! We had the Tuna Poke bowl and Teriyaki Chicken bowls. Tuna Poke was ok but not great. The Chicken bowl was excellent. Great portion sizes. Affordable delicious food with an amazing view. My sister just moved to Melbourne so we tried out Squid Lips on the recommendation of the Orlando Foodie Group. What a pleasant surprise. This restaurant/bar is massive. They have a huge indoor bar and two outdoor bars as well as an inside dining room. We chose to do the "self seat" option and picked a primo spot overlooking the water. The menu is quite big and offers tons of appetizers, sandwiches (seafood and non seafood options), burgers, and seafood baskets. Most of the sandwich options have a fun twist to them (mango chutney, teriyaki sauce, etc) We chose the BLT fish wrap and the coconut crusted fish sandwich. The wrap was $11 and the sandwich was $12 I believe. Extra 99 cents for fries and you have a filling meal. The service was really great and everyone that worked their was so friendly. They even have a rewards program if you live in the area. They have drink specials every day of the week and I grabbed a calendar that showed live music options every day as well. It's a beautiful location. Menu items are hopeful. They do have a lot of business, it's affordable and wholesome food. I just find it to be greasy more times than not. Staying on a mini vacation in Melbourne Beach these days of COVID-19 can be a challenge. On Saturday we decided to look o Yelp and found great reviews about restaurants that require social distancing and take this pandemic serious ly to protect their customers and Squid Lips was one of those places that do just that. Don't let the funky name throw you as upon arriving we entered via outdoor section by beach and found all employees where wearing face mask and all tables well spaced out even though this was outdoor dining. Menu had a great variety of beers and was loaded with seafood even though they also had hamburgers for those meat lovers. We ordered fish sandwich and I orders the lump Crab and Lobster sandwich. Food and service was great along with beautiful scenery had a great time and would definitely recommend this place when visiting Melbourne. read more

A group of us celebrating a bachelor party hit this place up for dinner. We didn't make reservations, but we're still seated quickly and service was pretty fast considering we were a larger group. Our party ordered calamari and conch fritters as appetizers. Both were really good. The sauce that came with the conch fritters was awesome! I shared a large order of seafood lasagna with my boyfriend. It came with a Caesar salad. I didn't love the salad. The dressing was kind of sparse and I didn't like the flavor. The seafood lasagna was amazing. The portion looked small, but it was rich and chock full of seafood. Half ended up being very filling. Most of our group seemed pleased with their meals.
