I quickly stepped into TX Art Supply with my sister. They were just on the cusp of closing when my…read moresister wanted to browse around for ideas. I had never been inside the store that I frequently passed while driving. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by one of the cashiers. I would have thought, she may have been frustrated by our late arrival. Thankfully, not. There are a vast selection of paints, putty, paint brushes, solution to clean brushes, books on how to draw faces, anime characters, and stencils to help create the perfect shape, size, and theme. Seeing the stencils reminded me of kindergarten and elementary school arts and crafts. All kinds of colorful wallpaper art. I think I spotted 10 different kinds of sketch pads for whatever art you wanted to make including custom comic books or for manga. My sister was happily assisted by, "Birthday Boy", Rodney. Him and my sister spoke for 30 minutes about the difference between watercolor, acrylic, and another method of paint. Rodney was giving my sister a lecture that she appreciated. He showed her recommendations on what travel kits to purchase and what he would use. My sister said that she really liked how thorough he was and that he knew what he was talking about. I enjoyed that he was personable and funny. The supplies in the ranges from $1 and up with plenty of brands to choose from. They even have an upstairs section. It's a pretty cool store! My sister plans on visiting again tomorrow to reboot her hobby in art.

I really like Hallmark stores, but I felt discriminated against at this location…read more I entered the store and had Japanese comic books and a box of Pokémon cards in my hand from another store, clearly these are not items hallmark sells. A Caucasian older woman who worked there on a Saturday afternoon approached me and said that she's going to hold on to my items. She did not state a reason or policy for why she had to do that, and I didn't feel comfortable with that idea, but before I could say anything she had already reached out for my items in my hand and walked away to place them behind the register. Within that same interaction, she ushered me towards the clearance section of the store, and sort of left me there. I had no desire to look at the things in the clearance section, and at this point I'm feeling annoyed. Why not ask me if there was something in particular that I'm looking for? I actually was there for a certain item, and could have used the help. I walked around the store for another 5 minutes, but could not stay longer because our interaction did not sit well with me. I honestly felt disgusted. When I went to the counter to get my items back, she told me the reason why she took them up. She believed the items I had at my possession were from her hallmark store, and later realized they were from another store (my receipt was clearly visible in the book). My question is, if she thought I was holding merchandise from her store , why not offer me a small shopping basket instead of taking up the items? There were lots of them at the front of the store that she could have offered me. Hypothetically, lets say that I did have items from the hallmark store in my hands, why can't I hold on to them as I continue shopping? Another thing was that bothered me was how she clearly inspected my things as she walked away with them. Why not give them back immediately if she knew they weren't from her store? Why assume that my shopping experience should begin at the clearance aisle? Anyways, I will not be going back to this hallmark location. But if anyone reads this, please beware of this particular staff member that might be watching and judging you. And if you are this staff member that's reading this, shame on you.
