Normally we order these because we did during COVID but this time we went to the store to pick up our items we had ordered online. I really wish I had time to walk around and shop but with a three year old, it pretty much makes that kind of thing impossible. Next time I plan on getting the great wrapping paper with the great designs. I had ordered a couple of postcards to help an elementary school kid get postcards from every state and the two I got were uniquely Houston which was nice to send. Also everything is hand drawn and unique and a play on many things Texas which is hard to find. I think I saw somewhere that they do custom stationary and invites also if you're needing something like that for a graduation or anything personal. Everything has a unique touch to it. The paper is high quality, the drawings and sayings are witty, and they have a variety of things to buy. Also they are in a great shopping center with a coffee bean store a store down and then a book store so check them out! read more

Anvil Cards is one of those charming, cute little local small businesses that I'm thankful to have in the neighborhood. Every time I need a card, I always think of this place. They have a variety of original artwork in different forms (greeting cards, posters, tshirts), and you'll definitely find something you're looking for, no matter what the occasion. The quality of the card paper itself is great too! You can tell when writing in it. Service is friendly and their price point is agreeable. Bonus points for all the Houston/Texas centric artworks! They make the perfect gift for the native Texan in your life that'll remind them of home. Love love love Anvil Cards! This little local Houston shop is a gem in this big city. With super cute and creative cards, some related to Houston (Whataburger, Beyoncé, the skyline) and Texas in general (Blue Bell, the Alamo), you will be able to find a add for pretty much any occasion. They also have shirts, notepads, posters, stickers and, my personal favorite, super duper cool pins (Grimace from McDonald's, LaCroix and flying burgers). NOTE: Anvil has FANTASTIC products; however, it's the service I've received that this review is particularly about. Both times I've come in, I've entered excited looking for some cool art of a card to give to my friends (their stuff is amazing) - the range is great and the quality is top tier. Unfortunately, both times I've been confronted with two different employees with a somewhat disgruntled attitude. I didn't feel very welcomed being in there. I was surprised for this to be the case... so I think I will continue to buy cards from another shop that sells their stuff. Third time's the charm... but until then... Additional note: the quality and prints are top tier; however, you will find the average price to be around $6 per card. It's a bit expensive, but also stands out compared to other cards from super markets read more

I love this place! They have all kinds of fun cards AND STICKERS!! However, the original reason for stopping by in the first place, was because this store was listed as of official supplier of Field Notes Brand memo books, which I love. I found a pack of their "Heavy Duty" 80 page workbook that is coil bound at the top ( flip style ), and I also found a really fun sticker that says "In Queso Emergency". :D. The store was neatly arranged and clean. The parking was easy, and the store attendant was very helpful & courteous. read more

Anvil Cards is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! The store is located in the same strip as House of Coffee Beans. I wandered in on a Sunday, I appreciated that they are open on Sundays (and later than other establishments in the area). Amy greeted me and I loved all the original locally-designed goods. Aside from cards, they carry other local goods like jewelry, stickers, magnets, and other small gifts. Everything is so creative and fun -- if you grew up in Houston, you'll fall in love with the clever local jokes, I guarantee it. Shoutout to the House of Pies card, you gotta go in to see it. I visited Anvil to pick up some Houston themed Christmas cards and gifts. The whole experience was good. The staff member who was supposed to open the shop was two minutes late but this obviously only affected me since I was two minutes early. The card designs are cool. We're talking James Harden wearing a Santa hat, "dome sweet dome", and gay pride HTX skyline. They also have standing stock of Olmox jewelry, another one of my Space city favorites. Anvil also sells artisan soaps and candles, shirts, other jewelry, HTX themed stickers and prints. I will be back for gift shopping. I felt everything was fairly priced. read more

I'm originally from out of state, and I recently had a need to send out some thank you notes to my home town. I wanted to send out Houston related things, so naturally I went here. They have all sorts of unique H-town stuff! Tons of it is so funny. I ordered it online and picked it up in store. They wrapped in up in their gift paper, and wrote a personal note on the inside thanking me for ordering. The cute little stickers that were included were great too! I love this place. I have had two fantastic experiences with them. The first time, I bought a card that was slightly smudged. I contacted them, recognizing that it was a small amount and that the odds of them doing anything about it are slim, but I was surprised. Not only did they send me a replacement, but they sent me a handwritten note apologizing and included a separate item to make up for it. I didn't expect any of that. What a wonderful surprise. The second time, I ordered some stickers. Again, I got a very appreciative, hand-written thank you note for a small order. The goods are fantastic, especially if you love your city and state. Very unique. Importantly, the customer service is second to none. I love this place. Great owners. Great merchandise. Great service. read more

Their selection is huge, ranging from all things Houston (!) to politics and love. I love Anvil Cards so much! The stickers are so cool and fun. I get excited when I see a sticker on a laptop at a coffee shop (pre-covid days) and notice it as an Anvil sticker. The cards are super great quality and extra special as not just a normal card you'd get at Walgreens (no offense to Walgreens). The shirts are super soft and comfy too. And the fact that this company stands up for the little guys/gals and ensures we all know they are on the right side of history is priceless to me.
