UPDATE 06/07 I don't usually get Lattes but occasionally I do and did so here; it was luke warm and weak -way to much milk to coffee ratio. I had to ask them to fix it, and explain how/why.-Guys, This is why (other) people go to Starbucks: the consistency factor. I knocked two stars off because really, this is inexcusable. ___________________________________ So this has great espresso (which is kinda hard to f-up, especially with Illy espresso beans). The service is friendly. -Just keep in mind that they open at 7 and close at 5 everyday (I think) They also have free wireless, cool art and seating. sometimes music. read more

I love this cafe! It is so much better than going to Starbucks before work for many reasons. the prices are decent the pastry selection is awesome (ham and cheese croissants!) the coffee is great they offer organic and fair trade ingredients the staff is super friendly and... the atmosphere is inviting they do take credit cards and even have one of those machines you just move your debit card infront of. fancy read more

Pretty standard little neighborhood cafe. Nice place. Good coffee. Tasty treats. Nothing too special, but just right. It must be said though: the interior decor of the place is very 1980's trying-too-hard-to-be-chic. read more

I want so badly so love this place. When I did my little morning walk-jog, this was my go-to place to end up. But enough mornings where they told me they were out of bagels at 6 AM (what?), $4.5 sandwiches that are on, frankly, old and unappealing baguettes, and a chai latte that was all milk and no chai, my desire to come back has waned. Pros: local feel, artsy, great seating, good selection of homemade goods, like different breads, quiche, the smoothies look good, wifi Cons: $2.75 for a small iced coffee, $3.5 for a small iced chai, the quality is inconsistent. I threw my iced chai away because it was all milk. I think this is like a lot of small businesses -- they have their quirks, and yeah, the products can be pretty inconsistent. It's just that at Spritzers, the consistency tends to veer downwards, especially for the price. Eh, a shame. read more

I always drove by this one and wanted to stop in. I looks so cute and sweet. I shoulda kept driving. I came in with my mom, we were looking for a sandwicha nd a nice refreshing drink. We each found a yummy sounding sandwich on the panini menu. But with no prices for us to see, we had to rely on the server to know. Unfortunatly she had no idea about anything. After the longest wait for paninis EVER, we took our tiny $7 sandwiches next door to the park. They tasted okay but for the wait and more importantly the price, they were SO not worth it! read more

This place sucks. It had been a few years since I'd be to Spritzers, due to a couple bad experiences with their lattes. I finally went back and got a regular cup of coffee and they didn't have soy milk. What a joke. read more

Back again to say that this cafe has my favorite chai latte drink again~~yay!! :-) This place is under new ownership and they have increased their offerings in beverages and food so kudos to them! I also appreciate the fact that they've let us reserve a table for weekly art meetings (a small group of 4-6 people) for a couple months and they have a rotating art display which is pretty cool. The mellow atmosphere, ample street parking, nice owners and staff and an awesome cuppa chai make for one of my fave cafes in town! read more

This place had great Ethiopian coffee. I live in Florida and drive out of my way to get coffee here. They use an Electra expresso machine that is wonderful. No butter coffee here. read more

DIDN'T TRY THE COFFEE OR FOOD, THIS IS BASED SOLELY ON WALKING IN THE FRONT DOOR. Stopped in as I recently moved to Alameda on May 6th at around 7:30am. There was a lady waiting at the counter and behind me another person that walked in. The lady behind the counter never acknowledged us and kept on doing what she was doing (no music so dead silence in the place). After a couple of minutes she finally turned around and said "bagel". The customer (sitting behind us) said "I said to go". She didn't say anything and stood there and I had to repeat to her that it was "to go". She got a funny look on her face and walked away. The customer said "can you cut it in half" and she gave a rude look and muttered something as she went out of view. The customer ahead of me said she hadn't even put her order in yet... Rude waitress that doesn't know how to greet customers, or take multiple orders, accept customers needs = very slow process for just a cup of coffee - I will pass and hope she isn't working on the weekends. read more

This is a really nice space. It's got nice windows, free wi-fi, sofas and better than average artwork in the adjoining room. It's clean and doesn't have a stale coffee smell permeating throughout. I wish there was a better selection of pastries, but it's probably doesn't do a large enough volume. read more

Coffee here is decent, I like the food and the ambiance, however my last trip here the service was meh...I was basically invisible to the barista because she was extremely busy talking to some dude flirting in another language (Ethiopian perhaps) maybe looking for an extra tip or a date...I don't know, all I know is that I stood around for a while and she tried not to look at me as if that means I too could not see her. In any case I waited for my order which cost 7.00 for 2 items and watched as this other guy pays $10.00 for about 4-5 items. Whatever none of my business, however all of that flirting build up for what you ask...? .25 cent tip ROFL. The look on her face was utter disappointment it was an epic tip fail, and he genuinely acted as if it was a large tip, it was one of those throw your hand up and motion "don't worry about the change baby" moments. I was dying on the inside, but then felt bad for her so I left her $2.00 bucks. My message to the workers: "how about you stop wasting customers time and act like they exist, especially when they are leaving you more than 0.025% tip" That is all. read more

I was at the beach in Alameda with two kids in tow, and needed to find someplace to sit down and have a substantive conversation with friends - we were trying to plan an event with contentious schedules and had only about half an hour to talk before life pulled us back to opposite corners of the Bay Area. The kind woman at Spritzers re-opened it and made some coffees for us while she closed up, despite the fact that it was a few minutes after their official closing. This place is cute but really nothing special. My boyfriend and I went here when we were looking for something to drink after being at the park. He got a smoothie and I got a chai tea. They use the same syrups that Starbucks and other major companies use, but they don't necessarily taste better than average. The strawberry banana smoothie across the street at the McDonald's was a cheaper, tastier smoothie for a similar amount of calories. read more

This place is happening and unique. The coffee shop serves good coffee, offers wi-fi and displays art from up and coming artists. The same quality of art one would see at 111 Minna. I love the industrial look on the stained concrete floors combined with touches of a Parisian cafe. You'll miss this place if you drive. It's located next to Washington Park's baseball diamond. Looking for a hip cafe that's not a starbuck's or peet's,this is the place to be. One thing that this cafe can improve upon is the ability to offer a way to heat up crossiants. read more

Cute café with friendly baristas and decent tasting coffee and prices. I visit each morning before heading to work and there usually isn't a line, so I'm in and out in no time. Love that! I have to admit I was tempted to give a bad rating my first experience at Spritzers to keep people away. It is hard to find a good, quiet cafe with free wireless that is not overly crowded. That's exactly what Spritzer's has been in my experience there! There were only two downsides in my view. First, I wish there were more outlets available. Second, the chairs were not the most comfortable, especially for people with back challenges. Overall this is a great little cafe, but please don't everyone crowd in here! Nice quiet little place in the west-side Webster neighbourhood, with some sidewalk seating. Good place to meet up with someone to catch up. Every drink and pastry I've had there has been spot on. Let's face it, it's cheaper to make coffee at home. For that reason, when we visit cafes, our intent is either convenience or atmosphere. Spritzers offers both. If you're in a hurry, you'll love that there are never any lines--you can get in and out fast, and you won't be hunting for parking either. If you're looking for a nice, quiet, drama-free place to do some work, I think you'll like it here. There are plenty of seats at tables that are larger than the two-person tables offered by Peet's or Starbucks. And you'll appreciate that the wifi actually works all the time, and the throughout put is fast. (I also enjoy Peet's, but their wifi is so slow that it's pointless. Starbucks is slightly better, but then you find yourself in Starbucks, which is its own punishment, half the time.) But my favorite thing about Spritzers is the people who work here. They are all so very sweet and accommodating. It's really a pleasure to see them each time I go. Taste wise, I haven't had a thing there that was bad. The coffee works for me, the muffins are fresh (I think made by the same bakery that Peet's uses), and the sandwiches are pretty good too. To be honest, I hesitate posting such a glowing review because I don't want this place to become Grand Central Station. But I want it to do well because I like seeing small businesses make things work so well. read more

What a charming café! The décor was classy, and the atmosphere cozy. And the service there was simply wonderful- the lovely barista behind the counter was friendly, pleasant, and oh-so-patient with me when I inquired about the different types of tea they had to offer. After I had a warm cup of tea in my hand, I wandered over to the gallery adjoining the café and found a comfy chair to sit in. As I leaned back in my chair, sipping my tea , I admired the artwork on the walls and the jazzy music playing softly in the background. I also enjoyed perusing through the art books there. Small cafe with a decent espresso menu and a few offerings of sandwiches and the like. It doesn't seem like much is prepared in the back and most items are ordered from other places. They offer bagels and eggs which they make right in front of you on an electric griddle. Service was slow when I went on a Sunday morning. There was only one person working. I also noticed a chair with a laptop next to it, seems like they aren't too busy hence the ability to sit and browse. Cute seating and ambiance. Many people seem to like to hang out here. Got a mocha and it was ok. I wouldn't necessarily come here if there were more options but it's great for a walk from our apartment so location is lovely. read more

Adorable little cafe right next to Washington Park! I'm a big fan of the artsy feel, good music and free wifi. I usually get a cappuccino or a blackberry Italian soda and can't complain. There's always an interesting assortment of artwork on the walls from local artists. It's relaxing and reminds me of a Parisian cafe! The only negative is that they close relatively early . . . 6 or 7PM? But other than that, it's 2 thumbs up for me! read more

Ok....I knew I could give this place 5 stars. I went back two more times--a new counterperson who made really good non-watery iced coffee, and he was genuinely friendly. I work in customer service as well. I also make very little money working where I do, so I can understand how customer demands and boss expectations just don't add up to $10/hour, but a "hello" and basic service accomplishes a lot, at least 99% of the time. THANKS for being my new favorite cafe. read more
