The hubs and I decided to split the Big Elvis donut with house made peanut butter icing, fresh grilled bananas, grilled bacon and honey). What is not to like about this combination of ingredients? This savory donut's base was Gourdough's (play on words) signature sourdough donut and then layered with each of the ingredients. The layering of ingredients and flavors created a 5-alarm palate explosion. The donut was delicious...better and better with each bite. Wow, wow, wow! Crunch...flavor...smokiness...crunch...flavor...smokiness! We have not had a donut quite like this one. Maria, our donut chef, boldly told us that it was going to be best donut we had ever eaten. Such a bold claim...however, Maria came with "receipts". Total donut nirvana... Gourdough's is in a food truck park with ample seating outside and a few of cushioned love seats. Superb experience...

I prefer the mini but they're sold out a lot which shows you how spectacular this place is. My go to is the nutty valentine. The donut is always warm, fresh, and crispy. And the toppings of Nutella, cinnamon, and strawberries adds dimension & the perfect story. There is plenty of patio seating and lots of parking outside. There can be a line on the weekends and they tend to sell out so keep that in mind. The staff is friendly and service is quick!

It's a very popular place here and some donuts were out of stock for the day despite coming here not all that late in the day. I got two donuts. I got the Glazed Donut and the Brown Sugar with Salt. The Glazed one was all right at first as the tingling of salt mingled with the sweetness and it definitely came across as a novelty but by the end of the Glazed my enthusiasm diminished a bit as that was all it felt like I was tasting but salt. I don't think that was entirely it but that's all my taste buds were picking up. But now the Brown Sugar and Salt Donut... now that was a good one! The flavors blended much better and I had more than enough enthusiasm to finish it. I do like Brown Sugar very much so this was a Donut I can definitely recommend if you come here. I wanted another but I controlled myself. They have coffee drinks as well that are solid so they make a nice pairing as you nosh on your donuts and want some coffee to go along with it.

Whenever we're out and about on South Congress (shopping and/or brunching), we like to stop in for a little treat. They even have an old-fashioned soda fountain where you can get egg cream soda. Now, I'm an expert of sorts on real NYC egg creams and I'll say they do a pretty decent job of it. I love the Italian cream soda! You can get scoops of ice cream, sundaes, and banana splits too. The candy selection is crazy big. Bins and bins of penny candy, gum, chocolate, nostalgia candies...too many to name. It absolutely feels like time has stood still in this marvelously sweet shop. The slices of cake were good. The carrot cake was excellent and moist. My only complaint was the pieces of carrot were too large. I'm not sure if the pieces we got were a bit older but definitely recommend eating this cake at room temp day of baked if possible. 6/10The cupcakes on the other hand were nearly perfect. I'm not a fan of coconut and since it had coconut shreds on the top, I just ate some of the white cake, which was perfectly moist and delicious. 6/10 but only docked points for the flavor selection.
