We found this place a couple of years ago and just went back today. It's out of the way, but worth it. The food is ALL great, nice drink menu and atmosphere. The prices are really reasonable. I had a crab cake, with two sides, a pomegranate martini, my husband had a pasta and salad, we had stuffed Hungarian peppers (the best I've ever had) took two orders of them home for late night snack along with two desserts and our bill was 90.00. One of the other couples we were with ordered the zucchini appetizers. Reading it on the menu didn't impress me, trying it did. This restaurant makes a better marinara sauce than me, and I make a pretty good one. If you find yourself in the Boardman area be sure to stop in. read more

Service good, both rib eye steaks were not very exciting or satisfying for being expensive. Artichoke dip was yummy and waitress was good refilling on chips, 3 salads were basic and standard fare, chicken noodle soup were in tiny bowl that was tasteful but at finite 7 spoonful and you were done. So it turns out that while this was my first visit, my family loves this place and I now see why! We made a reservation to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. First - they let me bring in a cake the night before and we're kind enough to keep it in the cooler for me - which was a lifesaver! Our waitress Kylie was super. The whole place was packed with graduation and everything was still perfect. Amazing appetizers- the Zucchini Romano was perfectly cooked and the Artichoke Spinach Dip may be the best I've ever had! It was the perfect temperature and wonderfully creamy! While I did not partake in the Chesapeake Crab Cakes my family loved them. I order the filet (since they are my favorite) and was not disappointed! It was melt in your mouth, cooked to perfection! The sides are huge, the baked potato could have fed all 7 of us! When they brought out the cake, the gave us beautiful serving tools for the cake which was such an added bonus. The entire meal was fantastic! But let's talk dessert...go just for the dessert if you already had dinner. Spectacular food and even better customer service. We tried an array of dishes that were all done well! We had crab cakes, escargot, stuffed jumbo shrimp, calamari Diablo squid ink linguini and house salads. Every dish was full of flavor and balance. We found nothing bland about any of our dishes. We would also recommend the buena vista red blend wine that paired well with our seafood options. There are plenty of choices but not so many that one gets lost. Very nice place to go for celebrations and dates as well. The staff really get what customer service should be like in a restaurant. Gave Springfield Grill a shot. Nice atmosphere and lighting. The entree prices are rather high for the food you receive. The bread is delicious that you receive before the food. The blackberry tea is very faint tasting unless you ask for more flavoring. They charge you extra for fries. The fries are nothing special really and should be included with the burger. Unfortunately a really disappointing lunch experience. Third try for lunch in past month and each time mediocre service at best, and food was just ok. 2:30p and 4-5 tables, not busy. Notified manager when we waited more than 10 minutes for waiter to come to table. Yes manager took drink order, but never returned to check on us or our $100+ lunch order. Waiter seemed overwhelmed and new. Unfamiliar with menu items, didn't check on table on food quality or drink refills. Food was mediocre. Steak and lump Crab, was really steak with tablespoon equivalent of crab pieces in a cream sauce. Meatloaf overcooked with very crisp crust finish. Steak preparation slightly over cooked. Steamed Broccoli over cooked. Advice - don't believe menu descriptions, ask questions to avoid surprises on $30+ steak entrees. Be prepared to be vocal if needed to get proper service. Dinner had historically been ok but been more than 12 months since that experience. Finally, if Springfield Grille has staff issues - close for lunch, vs offering a mediocre experience for $100+ lunches. read more

Wonderful food, cozy atmosphere in front of a fireplace and friendly servers...what's not to like! Best baked potato I've eaten in ages. While waiting for our meal we discussed the variety of pictures on the walls. There didn't seem to be a theme. Some were landscapes, others tigers and various wild animals, but one prominent portrait near the kitchen area was a nude woman draped with a throw. It wasn't especially vulgar, however we thought it was inappropriate in such a fine restaurant, especially when a hungry looking tiger was nearby. The antique muzzle loader over the fireplace added to the confusing decor. Upscale restaurant on a Friday evening with leaves falling outside, but warm inside. We waited only ten minutes, without a reservation. A bit noisy, but that's probably because it was crowded. We'll bring company here next time! read more

We have eaten here several times. The last two times we were disappointed. My potatoes were actually burnt and my seafood was dry. We called before we drove to the restaurant and were told they did not have a wait. We arrived ten minutes later and were told the wait was over an hour. Everything is extremely sweet ~ I found this odd. What I ate - rating Dinner rolls - 2: the sweet muffin style roll was too sweet to eat. The typical dinner roll was fine but was clearly supplied by commercial distributor such as Cisco. Not fresh and indicative of the use of low quality ingredients. Turtle soup - 3: nice depth of flavor, interesting compilation. It seemed like a failed attempt at a gumbo though. Adding the sherry that accompanies the soup was a mistake. House salad - 2: the nuts on the salad were extremely sweet. The balsamic dressing was too sweet to consume as well. Seafood combo - 3: this is cod and scallops with a bread crumb topping. The cod was great ~ light and delicate, minus the bread crumb fail. The scallops were awful. They were tiny and tasted like the freezer bag they had been stored in. Garlic risotto - 2: it tasted like it had come out of a box. The takeaway ~ this is an attempt to disguise low quality, mass produced food with sugar, ambiance, and high prices. It's been a long time since we have eaten here. The bar area is very nice and drinks are reasonably priced. We had reservations and chose to sit in the bar area. A bit noisy so a bad choice on our part. Biggest issue was our server. Her English was very poor and we had an extremely difficult time understanding her. We had no clue what the specials were that were not listed on the daily special menu. She would perhaps do better in a different position I had the phyllo chicken which was just ok. Very small, very little over cooked chicken and vegetables. The salad was good. My husband had the pork chops and loaded baked potato. 2 huge pork chops and the potato was enormous. Better choice for him. Our friends had steaks and the baked potatoes and we're happy with their choices Overall, decent experience. We were not rushed and service was prompt. Brother-in-law was there in January and had same waitress and problems. He complained to management at the time, but she's still there. Asparagus was the size of telephone poles, and they had a $3.50 upcharge for it, which we had no idea of because we couldn't understand our waitress. Very nice place. The staff is friendly and the food is good. Can be a bit of a pain to find if you're not familiar with the Boardman area though, as it's sort of tucked back, off on its own. Parking is readily available and patron friendly. The Turtle Soup is by far my favorite thing offered in their menu. Would definitely go back and highly recommend. read more
