I haven't played Springbrook in a couple years but just finished 9 holes with my 2 grandsons. The course was in fantastic shape. But the course has really changed. Gone are the grumpy old curmudgeons who made you feel like you were bringing their daughter home late on a date. From the starter to the pro shop and even the greens keepers, they were great. Friendly, smiling and such a big attitude change. Thanks for finally getting it right and not making the place feel like a place old golfers go to die. read more

Golfed there Monday morning at 10:30am. I brought my son (18 yr) and his friend. As we checked in, the pro shop clerk seemed annoyed we were bothering him for paying our fees. My son is just learning to golf so he shared a golf bag with me. I know that everyone is supposed to have their own golf bag, but again he is just starting out. The starter reminded us of this rule, but then we teed off. We had to walk the course because of the rain the weekend before, so we were moving a little slow, but still keeping pace. About 4 holes in there was an employee working on repairing a tee box, and he also told us that we shouldn't be sharing a bag. (Thanks, again). At hole 8 (we only golfed 9) we had a ranger on a cart watching us putt on the green! The constant attitude from this course is something I never experienced before. It's tough to rate courses.... Locally this is a 3.5 star course for typical condition. It's taken care of well enough. After a rain there will be standing water. The trees have grown in nicely making the back 9 a tough, but fun play. It's a tougher course to walk, but it's expensive to ride ($20ish bucks per person). IMO the course is fine, but overpriced. read more

Came here with 4 new golfers. we were a couple holes behind pace and let 2 groups go in front of us and those groups seemed very nice about it. at hole 7 the staff/course managers very rudely told us we needed to "figure it out" because we were behind pace when we told them there was nothing we could do since all of us were trying our best. they suggested we should've "practiced at their range for 3 hours to learn" (when all 4 of us practiced at their range before we played). for the remainder of the course they watched us and would come over ever 6 holes or so to insult us and threaten to kick us off if we didn't golf faster. as a group of new golfers, this was so offensive and ruined any chance of us having fun or enjoying the game. we told the staff we would never be coming back and they didn't seem to care at all. such outstanding customer service - if you're a new golfer, DO NOT GOLF HERE. read more

Nice enough course. After booking a tee time, they put in the wrong name for my reservation. When calling (day of) to confirm, I found out they had given my tee time to another group. While trying to figure out what was going on with what name was put into the system, the woman on the phone said she had to take another call and effectively ended the call. No apology, no alternatives, totally dismissed. Unlikely that I will play here again. Customer service matters. read more

2.5 stars. They mean to be better. Early August and fairways are under free relief and greens are quick, but mangled up. Pace of play in the afternoon is brutal. 3:45 tee time, couldn't finish before dark. I think they suffer from the Naperville 20+ handicappers that think Naperbrook and Springbrook are the only muni's they can play. Anyways, staff is nice and they're trying. Any other year I'm sure it'd be going great. - just maybe look somewhere else unless you have no problem paying $60+ to wait around. read more

Just finished a round here. We had a 1:02 pm tee time on a warm and clear October Sunday - awesome spacing. Group behind started perfectly and group in front kept pace. Of all the courses I've played this place has their spacing down to a science. Not saying we played well - everyone was over 100 and there were a few lost balls, but we kept moving and so did the people in front. Ranger was polite and helped when necessary. This place has a drink cart with Lagunita's AND Two Brothers - two awesome craft brewers. I was very pleased. The greens are very well kept. The pin placement was challenging and the greens are very large. Sand traps are not at all concrete like most in the area and the fairways are very soft - but not marshy. I like Springbrook. I haven't played here in a long time but am glad I went today The green fee for a full round nonresident and cart (nonsenior) is a bit much though - we paid $60 a person. I guess that's what you get when it's a course in Naperville... read more

Nice layout visually, playing in a prairie and not "playing through a neighborhood" like many modern courses that feature homes on every single hole. Prices are a little frustrating (Lockport's muni 'Prairie Bluff' is definitely better condition and layout, and about $8 cheaper on avg for resident and non-resident pricing ... Carillon in Plainfield is also a better deal w/ lots of internet coupons, $35 to ride 18 w/ coupon for a better manicured course). $40 to walk 18 on weekdays, $50 to walk 18 on weekends. Internet coupons were very unimpressive. Often crowded, but that can be expected at a muni in a big city. The course is in reasonably good condition, especially considering the amount of play it gets, though nothing special. A good course to walk as greens are near tees. Greens are relatively flat, no large undulations. They've done a lot of renovations, which is nice to see. Some pretty tough holes along the way and a reasonable amount of trees that can be trouble if you miss the fairway. Some very good holes, including no. 4 (par3 over water with large sloping green), 9 (long dog-leg downhill/uphill par 4 with tough uphill approach shot), 10 (similar to 9), 11 (par5 with lots of water), 13 (visually cool downhill par3), 14 (extremely hard long par4 with lots of water), 18 (uphill/downhill par4 similar to 9 and 10 but a challenging finish). Certainly not an easy course by any means. All in all, I enjoy playing this course, but it's not the first one in the southwest suburbs that I'd pick to play, mainly because of the pricing. read more

The facilities are nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked that they had multiple ball washers on each hole to accommodate the multiple tee boxes ! The course layout and design was reasonably challenging and the riding carts had a very useful GPS system. I was disappointed that there were no Rangers to moderate the pace of play and even more disappointed in the lack of any beverage/snack cart. I regret that I also must give a poor review regarding the greens. Virtually every green had way too much undulation and tilt, making virtually zero putts even remotely straight. On top of that, they were inordinately fast, which put any downhill putt impossible unless you happened to sink other than by sheer luck. I played with several "regulars" at the course because I played 36 holes that day, and even they were complaining (and missing virtually every putt). Some of the greens were pretty chewed up, too. (as if someone had tromped around with football cleats). Three putts were all too common and that's rare for me (I usually shoot 79 to 83).. I felt that the amount of break in the putts, along with the quickness, was incompatible with recreational golfers. I seriously doubt I'd ever play there again or recommend it to anyone. I get the pleasure of playing this course every other week in the summer. The greens and fairways are well kept but I also think the snack bar is a little slow or under staffed. I understand that I tee off early on Sunday's but shouldn't I get the same amenities as those that tee off later? Also it wold help that if there is a weather delay that the message is sent out before people arrive for their tee time. That comment probably gives it away on how early I am playing but finishing 18 holes in 4 hours or less is great during the hot months. read more

The golf course is across from the secondary access to the Spring Brook Forest Preserve and the driving range is on your right side after entering the parking lot. The driving range has improved since they renovated it. Price for a medium/large size buckets are decent and the time spent here is well worth it trying to improve your game. read more

It's been 3 years and I returned to Spring Brook Golf Course. The conditions were much improved. Putting surfaces were 9 out of 10; smooth and quick. The rough, while still lush, was cut lower. I'll wager for speed of play. Spring Brook is a very fun course - we played from 6,200 yards and enjoyed it. They've also redone their range, putting green and they've added a chipping green. All three are near the 1st Tee so you would/should never see delays. Worthy of an 4th Star for "Yay! I'm a Fan". read more

This is a fantastic course. You will not find a course with better greens, fairways, bunkers, or cart paths anywhere in the Chicagoland area (besides a real golf course LOL). Let me start off by saying, they have the best water I've ever tasted in my life. It feels like if god reincarnated himself and slid right down your throat. Now let's talk about the people. Sandy should be given a raise. This woman is an angel. I haven't seen her in years, but her soul lives with me every time I visit this course. The starters are friendly and welcoming, sometimes a little too welcoming; they often give me strange stories about their glory days, but I appreciate the effort to make me feel welcome. Most of the women who work at the snack shop are very friendly, minus one person. She's tall and has blonde hair. You'll know it's her when you ask for a candy bar and she grunts like it's the end of the world, news flash, that's your job, does make for a good running joke later on in the round. Now onto the course. I've played here numerous times, and never had a bad experience, unless you really care about pace of play, and in that case I'll send you a prayer. The rangers do a great job at keeping pace along, but some of the folks who play here should never pick up a golf club as long as they exist on this earth. Let me tell ya, I think half of these people are blind. The course is very well manicured. It rewards a good shot, but also punishes a great one while giving you a putt that defies physics. If your scorecard starts out "birdie, birdie, quad", then you're probably playing Springbrook Golf Course. The layout itself is great, it provides an interesting mix of challenging par 3s, short/long par 4s, and reachable par 5s. The front nine is one of the greatest nines I've ever had the pleasure of playing, but the back nine will beat you to hell and have you questioning if you should ever pick up a club again. The 18th hole is interesting to say the least. 18 looks like the architect wanted to make a signature hole, but didn't know how to do it, so he stuck a giant lake on a big patch of land and called it a day. It's quite convenient that the parking lot is located right next to 18, because you're going to be crawling toward your car after finishing this nine. All in all, great track, no alcohol required, except it would definitely help. To wrap this up, allow me to offer you some tips. If you're looking for junior rates, wear some high school gear, shave your face, and tell them you're 17. Tip #2. Don't go for it on 11, you'll make an 11. Tip #3. If you ever think you're not playing enough break, then you're right. You have a better chance at winning the lottery than getting a flat putt on these monstrosities they call greens. Tip #4. Don't go left on hole 9, me and my buddies have deemed this area "The Bermuda Triangle of golf balls". Yeah I know, it looks open, but you will not find it. It's like the balls just sink into the ground and vanish forever. Tip #5. When you get to 14, write a 5 on your scorecard, and walk to 15. Tip #6. If you're above the whole on 6, you might as well forget your chances of making a par. I don't think prime tiger could leave this putt short, this green is sloped at a 45 degree angle. Tip #7. Don't try the cut off the water on 10. The only thing that comes from this is that you'll bail out right and kill someone on 13 green. Well that's all for me. Played here again trying to like the course. Just can't get into it. The set up is good but the pins are always placed at the very edge of the slopes. I am a 5 handicap and shot a 78. Can't imagine that would be fun for any weekend golfer. The last 2 holes suck plain and simple. They should revamp them. No one wants to end their round not wanting to come back. The course is very fair and can be tough if the wind picks up. The greens are like upside bowls so putting is a premium. In all, play the course then go to naperbrook golf course and have fun. read more

I wanted to play nine holes as a walk on, I arrived and was assured I'd get on after about 1/2 hour wait, so I paid. I hit a bucket and returned to the clubhouse where they then said to check with the ranger. He told me it would be a couple of hours to get on! I don't have all the time in the world to wait, if I was told up front, then I'd of gone to a different course. Wish you guys would of been upfront and honest in the first place. Some of us have busy schedules and can't always make a tee time every time. What a waste of my time. If your going to play this course, make a tee time, because I think they misled and handled my situation poorly! read more

I haven't played Spring Brook in a couple years but probably won't go back for this reason: they fill up the back 9 while you are playing the front. By the time you reach the back 9, play has slowed to a crawl. We finished the front in 1hr 15min walking. It took 2hr 45min to finish the back. We started at 6:30am on a Tuesday with the idea we could finish in decent time. I brought it up to the starter but he just said "that is what they do"... I'm done with this place (at least for my weekday early morning golf). read more

Springbrook is one of two Naperville town courses-- the other is Naperbrook. Springbrook is more scenic and challenging than Naperbrook. There was a major overhaul this year and things are finally back to normal. There is a good range and practice area and they are adding a short-game site. There are Saturday permanent tee times so it is more difficult to just show up as a single and get on. I find this course is often backed up and plays slower than Naperbrook. Hole 11 zig-zags along two ponds and is a challenge. Bring your A game here. read more

I'll start this off by saying I play in the very large women's league here and they go way (way!) out of their way to accommodate us. Pull up, they unload our bags - no tips. They printed name tags for us so they can identify bags quickly and group them on the carts according to who we're playing with. All carts have free tees in them. New gps system installed - meh - It's all right. The course is well marked with yardage markers almost everywhere, but exact yardage is always nice. (Trying to follow rules and not name names) Love the pro shop lady - always very nice. The food manager works so hard to make us happy during our monthly luncheons. The pro is fantastic, even works the cash register to help us all check in quickly in the morning. Always available for questions. His lessons are very helpful - doesn't try to change your whole swing but tries to tweak what you got to work better. Lets us try out the demo clubs during rounds if we're looking to buy new clubs. Will special order merchandise for us as well. I realize we get a little special treatment, but there's lots of courses that don't put any effort into their leagues at all (hello Mr. Bartlett Hills Golf Course, yes I'm talking about you) The course is hard, no getting around it. Hit straight and things *may* end up well. It's usually in pretty good shape, but golfers need to take care of their divot marks. Greens do get pocked with them. Springbrook supplies FREE divot repair tools, so there's no excuse for golfers to not use them, but they don't. The rough is punishing, especially on wet days. The course has low spots, and too much rain causes problems. Little gnats pop up on certain holes on the front 9, every round. Obviously not the course's fault, but ugh, they're annoying. Rangers are present every week, but they're polite, make their statement and leave you to catch up instead of sitting there and hounding you on every shot. Even had one APOLOGIZE to our group when he mistakenly told us we were behind. Never had that happen before! The course slows down on 11 through about 15 or so - 11 is just a freaking hard hole, water to the left and right - so be prepared to wait. And after you're all done golfing, if you've provided your email address to them, there will be a polite email thanking you for coming out to play. read more
