I recently went for a quick lunch with a friend and we were very disappointed. We stood at the door where one staff member who looked quite bored asked us if we'd like a seat. He then told us to wait, and eventually another employee came out to seat us. Besides the bar, we were the only customers. We sat down inside, but overlooking the pond. As we were waiting for our order to be taken, we listened to a loud conversation between the staff. It was clear that they weren't used to customers being present. The decor was an attempt at a fine dining restaurant, but it had the feel of a diner. When the waiter came we decided to share a margarita pizza. We received frozen boxed pizza. The crust was hard like it had been microwaved. The bottom was etched as frozen pizza is. The cheese was very thin and... It was just an $8 frozen pizza... We just decided to leave, and we probably won't be back. I am very disappointed. read more

Don't let the outdoor beauty of the place fool you. I have had diner food that was 1/3 of the price and 100% tastier. The owners and staff are inexperienced. The "special board" listed only three items. When we ordered we were told they were out of two of the specials. It was 6pm. The drink prices were reasonable but the glasses were cloudy. A group of 7 of us went on Saturday to try a different kind of bar. We almost never all agree on a bar we like but we all loved it. It is the perfect place to relax and chat with friends over a few drinks. There was plenty of seating at the bar and the bartenders were amazing. We were definitely the youngest ones there, since we are all 21/22, but we never felt out of place. The drinks were delicious and the prices were fair. The nachos and wings were enjoyed by all. The owners were so welcoming to us. I can't say enough good things, I'll definitely be back. read more

This historic tavern is real jewel of the Lehigh Valley. The new owners have brought it back to life after years of abandonment. Great beer selection and varied menu. Nice bar and dining area, however the rear draw is the outside spring feed ponds and a screened pavilion. A must try local adventure. read more

I am definitely a fan. We sat outside for a long lunch and enjoyed the weather and the view. Nice gardens, two lovely water fountains and the best of Pennsylvania's natural flowers and greenery. Food and service was great. Its difficult to find a place I feel comfortable, relaxed and happy to spend nearly 2 hours on lunch (totally our choice; we could have been much quicker). Recently went there for dinner. Was not impressed with our dinner at all. Prime rib was fatty. Asked for medium well and came out very pink. Can't really mess up a baked potato or asparagus. My salad came out with the wrong dressing. We each had asked for a cup of coffee after our meal and needless to say we left it sit untouched due to dirty cups. We went for the close proximity to our home but most likely will not return or recommend. read more

I have never been to this place before the new owners. The menu is affordable for lunch. I am really pleased with our visit. We brought a party of 7 and sat outdoors under the patio in summer. It was cool and the atmosphere was relaxing. The food was really good. The Reuben sandwich is a must have! Fish and chips were pretty good. The burger was really juicy and lean. I prefer fatty burgers, however the flavor with this burger was really good, making me rethink my preference. The medium cook on the burger was perfect! The service was really good. I will be a regular here. What a cool place in the middle of nowhere! read more

Great cozy joint off the beaten path. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Always some smooth jazz playing in the background at the bar to set the mood right. Jeff the bartender is always quick on the refill. I love coming here to wind down a hard day. Lots of loyal locals who I've always seemed to strike up a friendly conversation with. Wonderful place both inside and out! Great service and food!

A few years back I gave this place 3 stars after trying the restaurant section, which aspires to fine dining. Should have updated my review long ago, so here it is. We came back about a year later and tried the bar. Turns out this place has two completely different personalities. The restaurant section tries to be higher-end and is good but not excellent by those standards. But the bar section (which has its own entrance) is a hopping neighborhood bar with excellent pub food! Best wings in the area by far (meaty, great blue cheese dressing, and their traditional hot sauce is really good). Good cheese steaks, burgers, soups, etc. You can also sit at high tops in between the bar and restaurant area, or outside in good weather. Rated as a pub/tavern, this place is 5 stars. It's become our go-to when we want a quick casual bite and we're rarely if ever disappointed. read more

Extremely disappointed in our dinner last night. For a 6pm reservation, food arrived around 7:45 with incorrect orders and missing food. While I understand the wait staff was short staffed, the numerous hostess running around didn't even bother to clean old plates or refill our drinks. While I generally love the food, we will not be back here for a while. read more

Right by DeSales University and stopped by for a pre-event quick dinner. Made reservations as I can see how it could get crowded quickly. Weather was bad but still a fairly packed house. The service was great, quick and polite. The food was very good and way beyond standard tavern menu. I had the day's special of lasagna with garlic bread. It was so good and the serving size was large enough to have again for lunch the following day. I can't wait for the next DeSales event and will make a special trip just to be in the area again! read more

This was one of my "younger years" favorite place to go. My wife and I decided to check it out since moving back into the area. The bar area is still a nice place to go, nice bar menu. Glad they kept the brass plaques for the old timer regulars that passed away. The dining area is lack luster and service wasn't that great. Young girl waitress that seemed uninterested in your needs. Food was acceptable but not fine dining by any stretch. I'm sure I will continue to go on a rare occasion with friends to the bar. Probably skip dinner with the family though. read more

We keep wanting to like this place and they do seem to try hard. However today our food was warm, not hot. They were out of a few things at lunch. Even the fried tasted old. Like they recooked them from last night. We have been here 4-5 times now since they reopened and the food had been bad to just ok. Service is on the slow side but staff are at least friendly. It is a shame they can't seem to make good food. I wonder ice cook even tastes it??? Disappointed again. Guess we should give up. read more

My wife and I went for lunch on Sunday. We were very impressed with the atmosphere, they did a nice job with the renovations. The menus were most impressive, you had the the choice of a lunch or dinner menu. Both menues gave you lots of options. If you couldn't find something you liked on the menu than you have a problem. We could'nt decide whatwe wanted so we got the seafood sampler. It was delicious and they gave us an awesome sauce to go with it. I think it was called "Tiger sauce" whatever it was, it was fantastic. Both of us had a great meal I had the Prime Rib and my wife had the grilled Reuben. It was delicious, we will be back. The Tavern House is a drive worth taking, I'm glad it's open again!! read more

Read the reviews and was very reluctant about giving this establishment an honest try. Took my Kids in for an early dinner, and I must say for starters the location even though set off the beaten path a bit, was a very beautiful setting. Confusing but came to find three lots available for parking. As we entered the establishment, we were greeted immediately by a very welcoming, beautiful woman full of smiles who was very friendly and sat us right away. The inside was very cute and also had a very cozy feeling to it. We sat by the windows looking over the back area of the restaurant and the view was, in my opinion very neat. You can definitely see the potential at this place. They have a beautiful out back pavilion (the belevedere) that I was told was and will be used for private parties and outside dinning during spring and summer, and looks absolutely amazing and could be a fun family thing to do during those times of year. Again.. VERY beautiful environment. As for the food. I ordered the ribeye steak meal with potatoes and a choice of vegetable, my daughter ordered the broiled haddock, and my other daughter ordered the kids burger. We all also ordered the clams for appetizer as well as the crab cakes. The food was absolutely amazing! Again, my opinion, it was the best ribeye steak I have ever had. Clams were very good, and not sandy like other places. The kids burger was excellent as well. My experience at the ye olde spring valley tavern was a fantastic one! Great place, great food, and excellent people! Part of the family! Beautiful setting and my kids loved it! We will definitely be back and talking about this place for a long time to come. My wife and I decided to try out the Spring Valley Tavern last night. We were curious to see what it was like with the new ownership and menu. Having read the prior reviews I was a little concerned things weren't going to work out. She and I don't get out for a nice dinner very often so we didn't want to have an unfortunate experience. We were pleasantly surprised to see they still offer the prime rib dinner. We both ordered that. An old fav from over the years. The wait staff was excellent. Stevie, the waitress took good care of us and was very friendly. The prime rib was excellent. Done perfectly. The mashed baked potato and vegetable we very good as well. Topped off with a large piece of peanut butter chocolate pie. I mentioned it in conversation with Stevie as she took our desert order that it was my wife's birthday and they took the opportunity to bring out the pie with a candle on top and did a little birthday singing. Nice touch. All in all a great night. Keep up the good work. We'll be back! read more
