I just got my DMV renewal in the mail today(Saturday) and I had some time, so I drove over to the Spring Valley Smog where Edwardo R. Vasquez took my old 89 BMW 325I in and I had all kinds of stress from past experiences of other Smog stations, but Edwardo really impressed me and he was friendly and we talked while he did the inspection and test. To my surprise, it passed the first time ever !!! Hooray !! $68.00 and I went home to enter the information into the DMV site and paid my fee of $85. A grand total of $153.00.....good for another year or two. I was so happy I referred another person already. He seems like an honest man he will tell you if anything is wrong with your car he does get busy so prepare to be there for a few hours he's a little pricey and he charge for retesting but the price is worth the customer service read more

Not only has this shop been smog checking my cars for many years today the owner did something for me that saved me a $2700 repair bill at Bob Baker Toyota. The check engine light had come on so I took it to the dealer to see what the matter was. They told me it was $2700 to replace the catalytic converter and a couple of other items affected as well. I was going to Rana's (great Mexican restaurant next door) to pick up some take-out and I stopped into the shop to see if they could recommend a mechanic to do the repairs for less than the dealer. The owner then tells me about the warranty on catalytic converters on low emission standard engines (PZEV) that go up to 150,000 miles. So I call the Toyota dealer and ask them if my Camry 4 cyl. engine qualifies under the PZEV guidelines. They called back: it was a yes. This fellow just saved me a boat load of cash! I will continue to take him my vehicles for smog checks and heartily recommend his smog shop to friends and family (and Yelp shoppers). read more

Way too expensive! I'll never go there again. I think $70.00 is ridiculously high for a smog when other "test only-gold shield" facilities charge between 14.99 (with coupon) and 29.99. Spring Valley Smog told me they charge that much because they assure customers that the smog is accurate and they don't have a repair facility to scam you into doing repairs to pass that you don't need. The service was okay, $50 smog check and in and out in 30-35 mins and I went at 9 am. -4 star because they have a HUGE SIGN that says "$40 smog check and free retest if you fail" (they don't mention $10 cost of certificate until later) . And then hidden underneath in small letters it says "free retest only for cars less than 100,000 miles or new cars." And you only get a free retest with them if they do the repairs on your car which is pretty weak. Fortunately, I passed so was happy. Also, my debit card got hacked five days later from when I used it at this place. And narrowing it down at very limited suspects, this one looks like the most reasonable. I walked in on a late Saturday afternoon needing a smog. Was quoted the price and even though I saw a few people there was told they could get me started and in/out in about 15 - 20 mins. I had my DMV paperwork, so paperwork was fast. Clean lounge area and lots of seating. I was out in/out in the allotted time, got my copy of the 'passed' document, told they would forward it to DMV and was very happy with the whole experience. I was pleased with the excellent customer service by phone, and in person. I brought in one of my cars about three months ago and I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I brought another car in today and was in and out in less than 20 minutes. I truly appreciate their expertise and how efficient they are with their time and more importantly mine. Both of my cars passed smog testing, I'm sure the good maintenance I've had on my vehicles have helped. I've come here for years because the service is great. I have notice that in other places they lower their smog price "IF" you fix your car with them, which at the end is a huge bill of hundreds or a thousand +, which in the end they charge you for a full smog price plus parts and things that you might don't even need. When I go to Spring Valley Smog, Eduardo always explain to me everything I need to know about my car and what are my options, passed or failed, so if I need something to be fixed I know exactly what I need to tell my mechanic, and I don't have to go and pay for something that I don't need.
