When I first arrived, there was no cars in the bay, the Technician was sitting on a chair. I was driving a church bus, which I know is a little bit undesirable to work with, but, the employee said that I needed to make an appointment. Although I had called earlier, but nobody answered the phone. He really didn't want to do the job. He'd rather sit on his chair and he said he was going to lunch soon. After pressing him, he said his manager would be here in a few minutes. When the manager showed up the manager was awesome and got everything handled. I'm thankful for that. read more

I've been taking my vehicles to DEKRA for years, including my Ford diesel truck. I first used them in La Mesa and was happy to follow them to Santee. They've consistently been honest and straightforward about pricing, reliable in their service, and accommodating when I need to work around a busy schedule. It's reassuring to have a smog test center I trust and can count on year after year. I highly recommend them. read more

DEKRA Smog Check Station - Current smog test prices. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Santee, California

Went on 9-14-2026, the gentleman that helped me was very professional. The price was very reasonable. It only took about 20 minutes. I would recommend this place. It's in Santee read more

10 years ago, I had to weld in a new catalytic converter. Ever since, the car always passed the smog checks with plenty of margin. This time I took it to DEKRA. Once again, it easily passed all tests, and the catalytic converter of course had all the right numbers on it for my car. However, somehow they didn't like how I had welded it in, and accused me of having tampered with the catalytic converter, which I hadn't. It didn't matter that the car had passed all tests, and that all 5 smog stations before them didn't think that there was anything wrong with my car. In the end, I had to buy a brand new CARB catalytic converter, and you know how much they cost. I can only speculate about DEKRA's motivation to fail a perfectly good car. They are looking really hard to find a reason to make you fail. Needless to say that I will never go back to them. read more

I just want to thank the guys at Dekra Smog Test Center for making the process so quick and easy. I took my car in and was out of there within 10 minutes. New location same excellent service. I knew La Mesa had closed down but didn't know they moved to Santee. I actually took my car to a different smog place which ended up being a big mistake. Went to Dekra & saw Gilbert & the same friendly service. Quick, efficient, and the best smog service out there. We take all of our cars here & will in the future. Thanks Gilbert & team! read more

I got my car smogged here and it was kind of difficult. The staff are not welcoming, and they were really short with me even though there were not any other customers when I came in. They also did not advertise online that they only offer DMV title transfers on certain days. I came back a second time and then they informed me that they also only have one person that does the DMV services and they come in late in the day. I came back a third time and they told me they could not help me with my title transfer. I wasted a lot of time here- it was not more convenient at all to try to get DMV services here. It ended up being easier to just go straight to the DMV. read more

We've done several smog checks here. They are quick , trustworthy and professional. Everything electronically transferred to the DMV.

Fast, thorough and they offer a free re-check if your vehicle doesn't pass the first time! Highly recommend this establishment! Don't use Santee Smog Test. read more

This place is fantastic. In and out with no appointment in less than 10 mins! Very efficient and polite service. Warning: the new location is a little hard to find because it is behind some other businesses. Well worth the effort to find! read more

Amazing service as always. Gilbert is awesome and I can see why he gets so many stellar reviews. My Son took me to the Dallas Street, La Mesa location in 2024 as I was unable to drive after a surgery. I went there in 2012 also when I briefly moved back to California and needed a Smog Test. I was redirected this year, 2026 to the Santee location. I will return again in 2028. read more

The car smog check process usually runs smoothly. I called and asked for an appointment. I was told that I would not need one. He wouldn't even take my name. When I arrived there were others ahead of me. I will continue to go there for smog checks. The two technicians are not friendly. read more

Just got my car smog checked again and wow, I'm just so impressed at how fast these guys are! Of course I made an appointment first. When I drove up they came to the car, got my key and paperwork and got it all done in just 15 mins! No exaggeration. Just enough time to eat a breakfast sandwich and sip my coffee while watching a morning show on their lobby TV. By the time I was done paying and walking out, there were more customers and cars. Guess I got in at the right time. (11am) At $59 the price point may be on the higher end for cost, but the convenience and ease is worth it to me. Luv this place not far from my home! read more

Smog Checks are not always easy or convenient when you have an older vehicle. Marco answered the phone when I called and was extremely professional, and reassuring when I had questions and apprehensions (based on previous experiences elsewhere). Gilbert performed the work on the day of my appointment, and made it the most white-glove that a smog could possibly be. Cost is well justified by the convenience and professionalism all employees show! This is my go-to place for now-on. read more

I was very pleased at the experience with DEKRA on Sunday. They opened on time, were very helpful and efficient. In and out with my 2017 SUV very quickly. Price was $63 including certificate and a great experience. Other places charge less and then add the ~$8.50 certificate cost. Price varies depending on vintage of vehicle. That is logical. I could have found a cheaper place but chose to rely on other's experience instead of trying to save a few $. read more

Love coming here for smog checks! Our family has multiple cars and I've shopped around and DEKRA is by far the most affordable in La Mesa. Not only is it the most affordable, but it's also the fastest! I usually come in the morning, around 10 AM, and there's never a huge wait. They have me in and out in about 15 minutes and the staff is always very polite and friendly. Do not go anywhere else for your oil change in La Mesa! read more

Fast and friendly. No waiting. In our neighborhood. Walked the the park and back and it was done.
