The owner is very very friendly. He smogged my 2004 Jeep. I happened to use this place because it was close to my house and my Jeep loves to give me problems with the emissions, once I knew that the emissions system was ready I just wanted to get it done. I mentioned that there were coupons for other places to try and angle a discount and he was quick to explain that Star Stations don't do discounts but will dishonestly not disclose that until you arrive and then force you to pay more. I went to A 1 Smog test about a month ago on a Wednesday at 11:30 am. One vehicle was just pulling out when I got there so I was able to get into the test bay in about 5 minutes. After about 15 minutes, my vehicle passed the test and I paid $40.75 for the test and $8.25 for the Smog certificate on my 2016 Honda Accord and I was on my way. The driveway for the shop is the first driveway East of the O'Reilly Auto Parts store. I will be going there again in 2 years because of the good service and great pricing. read more

Lovely man runs this smog test spot out of a small garage. Called first to confirm price - he was the cheapest out of 10 places I called in the area ($45 total including CA certificate for a post-2000 regular car as of November 2022). Drove right into the garage, gave him my DMV registration renewal paper, he confirmed the price with me, quoted me at 15 minutes, and he welcomed me to sit down in one of the two chairs at the side of the garage. He handed me a tiny form/receipt as I waited and watched him do the inspection. He's clean and efficient! 10 minutes later, he gave me two thumbs up, I paid, and I was on my way! 10/10 would recommend. read more

He's been in business for 30+ years and his only advertising is word of mouth. This guy is awesome. He was sure to say hello, even though he was working on another car, and got to me asap. His office is tiny, which is great because it took under 15 minutes to check in, get serviced, have my paperwork electrically submitted, ask about his business, and pay. Hours: usually 9-5 ish. But if he has customers, he'll keep working. And he tends to be open till 7p during the summer. He's closed Sunday, but open the other 6 days of the week. Support this guy. I had a great experience there, he was able to get me in and on my way in no time. He was also very knowledgeable concerning how to properly test the car (operating temp, etc). As far as Smog tests go, I think this one is as good as it gets. It took 20 minutes max. Outside seating kept me safe from Covid. To improve the service, they could serve cocktails, but what are you going to do? I mean this is a smog test. read more
