Came here to get my car smogged and I'm glad I found this spot. It's definitely hard to find, so give yourself a little extra time the first visit, but once you're there it's smooth sailing. Service was friendly, straightforward, and no nonsense exactly what you want when getting a smog check. The gentleman behind the counter was super helpful, explained things simply, and got right to work. There's a small but comfortable area to sit while your car is being smogged, and the whole process was quick and easy. No upselling, no pressure, just straight-to-the-point service. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I love the efficiency here. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Seems like the shop is run by a single person . Ring the bell when you get there and you'd be helped right away. Take a seat at one of the 4 chairs available while he does his thing. Before you even realize, the check is done! Small fee for paying with credit cards. read more

I am so happy I found this place on Yelp! This is a one man show and getting my smog check was quick and easy. I came without an appointment on a Saturday morning and there was no line. Owner is straight to business. Prices are fair here, bit of a discount if you pay cash. I love supporting a small business! There are multiple auto businesses in this area just drive all the way to the back. Also, what a gem - the owner has their paintings all over and is super talented! read more

Well Kevin did it again! Perfect Service Every Time! TIP: If you have a car with computer interface and you have work done on it, they system gets reset. DO NOT get your car smogged the next day. It will not pass. It needs to be driven at least 100 miles, have stop and go driving, cold starts and cool down to RESET the computer. This will save you a second trip to see Kevin. % Reccomend SMOG Clinic! read more

Quick, no frills spot to get your smog check done. I came during the daytime on a weekday and was in and out within 15 minutes! It's located at the back of a narrow area lined with auto shops. Not much parking available so if you come during a busier time and someone's car is already being tested, you may have to maneuver around. Keep in mind that for this spot specifically, if your car fails the test, you are still responsible for testing costs (just not the cost of transmitting the certificate). So if you're not confident you'll pass, you may want to consider going somewhere that doesn't charge you for failed tests. read more

Very fast service. Needed a smog check for DMV renewal and went in without an appointment. I was attended to immediately and was in and out in like 20 minutes. The registration paper was sent on their end. Efficiency is king here and I highly recommend them. Value is also amazing! read more

Came about 11:30am on Monday and car was tested immediately with no wait. Took less than 10 minutes. Passed, paid $42.50 out the door ($5 yelp check in discount) for inspection + smog certificate sent to DMV. Said to wait 1 hour and then I could pay my registration. Couldn't have been easier which is what you want in a smog check experience, along with fair pricing. I've totally come here in the past but I guess I didnt review! One man show and doing a great job. We talked about his lovely orchids on the counter. Its nice they include beautiful plants and art on the wall. It's a little hard to locate but people have posted great photos. Its right next to an auto repair and everyone is easy-going. Parking is tough but they will adjust after you park anywhere. I mean you are in and out so its not a big deal even if you are blocking the auto shop adjacent to them. See you in 2 years... read more

Smog Clinic - Showed up at 11:30am on a Monday and no wait at all! - Smog Check Stations Near Me - San Diego, California

After doing a Yelp deep dive for smog check places, I decided upon Smog Clinic, and it turned out to be such a great choice! Note: Look out for a blue sign that says "Smog Clinic", as it can be easy to miss! When I arrived, there were four parties before me that were waiting. I must've waited for no more than 20minutes by the time it was my turn. And when it came to the smog check, it was SO QUICK! The entire process, from the check to payment really did take under 15 minutes. Such a great value for an exceptionally quick service! Kevin - the owner - was so kind and great to do business with! I wasn't sure I wanted to blemish this shops many 5 star reviews. If you read my other smog shop review, you will hear that has a vehicle I was working on for months, upgrading my skills to do so. I had a small EVAP leak I couldn't find even after buying and using two different smoke machines. I had driven drive cycles so many times. And in the end it was the simplest thing, an open port on top of the tank fuel pump that was the problem. And I replaced the fuel injectors assembly with an updated one. I'd heard stories of young east county smog techs not knowing what they were looking at in older vehicles so failing vehicles for missing or wrong parts that weren't. And the customer pays for that So I started looking at San Diego listings here on Yelp. I just needed to get this problem behind me and complete my registration completed. And it was the end of the end of year holiday season. I had nothing else to do, and Annie from Smog Clinic had responded with a quote that was less than the east county shops I am leery of., On New Years Eve (I know, but I really needed it done), I called. Was told they were open and I told the man what I was driving. That I was coming from El Canon. And when I finally got there after driving in pouring rain and getting misdirected by a map app, I walked up with my paperwork folder. The man asked where my paperwork was. Took a quick look and then told me he doesn't do 99's. I told him that Annie quoted me on Yelp for smogging a 1999. Then he says his machine wouldn't calibrate this morning and he's waiting for the repair tech. I told him he should have told me that when I called him before driving there. He didn't say anything. For that I have to give a low rating. I get that some people are not free talkers like I am. I honestly am not sure I even believe his story. Because 1999 and older vehicles require use of a different machine. And as time goes by, less and less older vehicles come in. On a slow day they might not want to use the electricity to even turn the machine on. Next time I hope to be driving a newer truck, and with the newer system it's all about what what the vehicle computer reports and not so much about the Tech's knowledge. Unless there are aftermarket parts installed, pretty much one shop is as good as another. Except for price. read more

This a great and friendly Star Smog only station. Kevin got me in and out in no time.

Car stuff always sucks. But what doesn't suck is getting in and out in under ten mins. My annual renewal included a smog requirement this year (cue the dread). But I read the reviews for Smog Clinic on Yelp so I came by. I didn't have an appointment or anything. The owner was quick and efficient. It was such a quick process, I was in and out in no time. I really appreciated that the owner turned my car around for me so I was able to get out easily. Getting your car smogged doesn't have to suck. read more

I am so HAPPY I came here to get my smog check done. I had to get one to get my car registration renewed this year. I realized I needed a smog check very last minute and called the shop around 5:00pm to see if they could still accommodate me, because they closed at 5:30pm that day. I got an immediate response on the phone, and was told that if I could show up in the next 15 minutes they could do it. I went immediately and they worked on my car. There were two people there before me so I had to wait a little bit, but Kevin spent no more than 10 minutes on each car! I was so grateful because he did stay an extra 10 mins after business hours to finish up on my car for me. It was so quick, easy, and stress free. I HIGHLY recommend coming here. Mention YELP for a $5 discount, even if the page doesn't show the "Check-In Offer". Price was very reasonable and I paid less than $50 for a 2011 car, which also included the smog certification sent to the DMV. read more

Modern Smog check he just plugged into the port near the pedals. 8-10 min later the test is done. Wish we could just buy our own device and plug it in and done! Would come by again. I typically go to another smog place closer but it was closed because it's raining. read more
