Needed to take my Honda Pilot in for a Smog check. My husband has been here before but this was my first time taking our vehicle in. They are very efficient and the wait was not very long. Two other people showed up when I did but we were all done within 20 mins. The waiting area is very clean with a good amount of chairs. As they are checking you in, if no one is waiting they will get your car started with the smog check. I've been bringing all of our cars here for years. The service is fast and people are nice, but the pricing has become ridiculous. Why should testing an SUV or truck cost significantly more than a sedan of the same age when the test and inspection process is the same? I've always used their coupons to save a little, but they no longer work because of the types of cars I own. I was expecting to pay $50 ($42 + the certificate) and it was going to be $78 this time. I complained and the tech mumbled that the owner sets the pricing and knocked $10 off because he was embarrassed. Will definitely look elsewhere next time. read more

That made it convenient to go any day that I had time for the errand. On a Thursday morning, I drove to Poway Smog Station and entered with my vehicle info. Kat, at the desk, was absolutely lovely. She took my info, provided a price breakdown, and made the process very smooth. I then sat down to write some emails on my phone and was pleasantly surprised to find that my car was ready not long after. I had such a positive experience here. Don't bother to try to use the coupon on their website. They will tell you it has expired, but they are unable to adjust the date on it per Google. The receptionist was smug , unkind and unhelpful. It souunded as if she had rehearsed the same excuse about the coupon until it was absolutely perfection, but had no intention of ever removing it as it served as a very effective bait and switch. The man waiting in back of me left without service after hearing me try to use the coupon. Take my advice and go somewhere where people are happy to see you and most importantly want to have satisfied customers. This place is amazing. I will always get my smog tests done here! The last 2 smog tests, my car's computer was zeroed out by a check engine light so, as a result, there was insufficient data to collect in order to complete the smog test. The employees here patiently explained why the smog test wasn't completing and instructed me on how to get the sufficient amount of mileage/data so the smog test would complete. And they didn't take my money for the test until it completed. Other places will take your cash for every incomplete (not failed) test. DMV sent me my car registration renewal for my 20-year old car and probably because of its age, I needed to have my car smogged. Since I didn't have to go to a designated "Star Station", I reached out to a Facebook community page and asked for recommendations of where I can get a smog test done for a reasonable price and a quality and trustworthy business. Many respondents recommended Poway Smog Station and they were spot on. Poway Smog Station is located at the far east end of Poway Road. Although there might be closer smog businesses, my first time experience made the little drive well worth it. If you head east on Poway Road, you'll go past Community Road, the AMC movie theater, Lowes, and many of the Poway car dealerships. As soon as you pass the Hyundai dealer, Poway Smog will be on the right side. The business has its own lot and has plenty of parking. Inside is a seating area with a large tv showing a movie. Not sure if the owner is a veteran, but I enjoyed the U.S. Navy posters on one side of their wall. The customer service by all of the employees I encountered were noteworthy and I appreciated the kindness of the young lady who assisted me with my paperwork and taking my payment. There is a Star Station smog business that I've gone to many times and will continue to support it whenever I'm required by the DMV to do a Star Station smog. If it's just a regular smog test, I believe I've found my go to business for this type of transaction. To meet my financially reasonable request, Poway Smog Station has a coupon online that helped reduce my cost. They open at 8am, so I made sure I was there close to when they opened and was promptly taken care of without me making an appointment. The kind employees who worked on my car did so expediently and were respectful of my time because it didn't take long for my smog to be completed. Thankfully, my old car passed with flying colors. I'm thankful that the community group recommended Poway Smog Station because everything positive that was said about them were confirmed with my personal experience. Best smog shop in town! I arrived at the shop 8 am sharp on Saturday hoping that I was first in line because I had a busy day. They were open already and there were two cars in the process of being tested. I was greeted by a very nice lady that was ready to assist me right away. She took my keys and had the smog technician start right away. I couldn't believe that the car was ready a couple minutes after I completed the paperwork. They had me in/out in 8 minutes!
