This place was a swell place for breakfast before my visit to Appomattox…read more I walked in and it's a wide restaurant and quiet in the morning. I sat in the middle where I ordered bacon and eggs with home fries and wheat toast. While the photo you'll see may not have looked like much, it was actually perfect like something id make at home. I enjoyed it very much. The price was shockingly low and I decided that the service should get more than what I paid for the breakfast entirely. I happen to love trains so that was an added plus for me. If I ever do go back, id like to see what it's like at night because they have a bar behind the other door next to the restrooms. It definitely brought back memories of my childhood.

It's a little sparse on the inside, but nothing bad. We ordered our food and it took a little longer than we were expecting for breakfast - maybe around 25-30 minutes, but I also know it's a small place in a really small town so no biggie. Our server was nice enough but a little quiet. I got eggs, bacon, toast, and a pancake. My boyfriend got eggs and biscuits and gravy and our friend got chocolate chip pancakes. It was all pretty good. I'm not mad at it. All together it was around $33 bucks. Being from the city, I thought this was a mistake for 3 people but it was the actual price so that was great. I would recommend this place; it's solid with good food and a great price.

A lovely BnB in a quaint and historically interesting town…read more We were the only guests, on an early spring weekday, and the owners really treated us with a lot of individual attention, regarding arrival, the dinner and breakfast times, and the tasty dinner itself. The rooms were perfectly clean, and lovingly furnished, each one different in size and looks. But we heard and smelled the kitchen under our beautiful room with the red wallpaper. If you do not like train sounds , better do not take this room but take a room overlooking the front of the house with its impressing, well taken care of oak tree. Also, be aware that the mattress in the red room is very soft. The overnight price was fine, but all the extras chosen by us, like food, wine, and flowers were rather pricey. We would like to return to this friendly BnB - but would choose a firmer mattress - we are sure the charming owners could help us choose!

The design is pretty ornamental, in keeping with the time period of the house (late 1800s). I had the Havilah Room, done in Persian blue with a burgundy area rug. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, with a perfect mattress and high-quality linens. There's a balcony on the front of the house that all the guest rooms have access to. The first-floor restaurant will send up dinner if you just call down and request it. I was in the mood for a steak and they had a terrific ribeye available the night I was there. Simply seasoned with salt and pepper and perfectly grilled, with flavorful garlic mashed potatoes, it made a satisfying dinner. There's plenty of complimentary parking right onsite and the Appomattox National Park is less than ten minutes away by car. The innkeepers here know what they are doing and everything runs very smoothly, for a reasonable price.

We were passing through South Boston at lunchtime and saw this place on Yelp…read more We got there right at 11:00am when they were switching over from breakfast to lunch. The place was clean and welcoming. We ordered the Holler and the Green's folly sandwiches with a side of Hash brown casserole. Oh my goodness, both were two of the best sandwiches we've ever had, and that hash brown casserole was fabulous, we were lucky that was still available since it is a breakfast only side. The staff was working their tails off and you could tell they cared very much about the product they put out. Great downtown location. Will definitely be back if in the area again!!

This small, cozy restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating and delivers that unmistakable Southern hospitality--warm smiles, friendly chatter, and a sense of community that makes you feel right at home. You order and pay at the front, and the staff brings your meal right to your table. Even though there weren't many people working, the service was smooth and timely--and honestly, we weren't in a rush anyway. The food was good, comforting, and true to that Southern flavor I love. And yes--they serve mimosas, which made the experience even better. Would I come back? Absolutely. Southern Plenty captures everything I adore about small-town dining: good food, good people, and a place that just feels like home.
