This was a blast! We went for a birthday dinner and the service was fantastic. Given the nature of the restaurant (i.e. cooking our own food) I still ended up leaving a full 20%+ tip because our server was truly exemplary. The way this works is that it is a one-price per person and you have a time limit. More on that later. Anyhow -- the food brought out to us (almost immediately after ordering on the table's iPad,) was high-quality and incredibly delicious. The only pre-cooked items I got were some edamame, seaweed salad, and spring rolls, and those were nice. But the real fun here is cooking on the hot grill in the middle of each table. My favourite was the thinly-sliced AAA beef, which cooks in under a minute, but the chicken in a similar marinade was also delicious. The pork was nice, but needed to be seasoned by us (which was fine). I wasn't so big on the spare ribs, but I know others liked them a lot. As for other seasoning, I dipped my meats into a mix of the teriyaki sauce on the table and some hot sauce -- but there were a number of options. Vegetarian? They have you covered with a number of veggies to grill, and tofu chunk appetizers, as well as the aforementioned seaweed salad, edamame, etc., so a vegetarian might pay too much for this meal, but they'd be able to eat well in any case. Since you get a clean grill as often as you need, I imagine that the grills should be clean and not contaminated with animal fat if that is a concern. Dessert options were sparse, but really delicious. The tiramisu shot glasses were a true stand-out, and the mango pudding clearly had real, fresh mango in it. There was a wide variety of ice cream, which was pretty good, but not the best part. The only down side for me was that I wish we'd had longer than the 1 hour, 45 minutes allotted time, but I understand why they do it, given that it's a flat-rate meal no matter how much you order. I think two hours would have been more of a sweet spot, at least for our larger group. We had to be hurried away at the end and that's not a fun way to end a meal. Anyhow -- highly recommended for an eating experience, especially if you have never done Korean barbecue before. read more

Delicious food. Excellent service. The meat is fork tender. Seasoned perfectly. The veggies are fresh. Love the decor. Would like more choices for dessert. It was also disappointing when they didn't know how to make a traditional margarita or vodka martini. It is listed as a bar as well, and we could't get the drinks we wanted. This was my first time here, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I think it's a neat eating experience having to cook your own food, and being able to experiment a little bit. I enjoyed the food but I wish there were more flavours available, because I like lots of sauce on my food and there weren't too many different sauces to choose from. With that being said, me and the people that I was there with ended up stuffed. I wouldn't eat here all the time but I think it's fun to come here occasionally. First time here. This restaurant parallels the very good Spring Sushi restaurant in Toronto. Was impressed with the efficiency of ordering, receiving the order quickly and correctly. Well trained server in customer service. He was very efficient. Food quality fantastic. Fresh, great variety. Can't ask for more. I have had Korean bbq in Seoul recently and this compares very well. I was impressed that the menu allowed one to customize to one's tastes. If you wanted a more authentic Korean experience like in Seoul, the choices were there. Very nice to have options of cooked food which provided us with nibbles while we waited for the food to grill. Overall wait times for the items which needed more prep time were shorter than stated. Great again. Great taste. My only concern on this experience was the plastic straws in each drink. A plastic spoon in each dessert selection. This amounted to about 15 single use plastic SUP items for our group of three! I never asked for them. Manager was cordial about it. I just hope businesses can help with educating consumers on the true cost of that plastic item in terms of environmental impact. I know that the restaurant does not want to look too "cheap" to offer a straw or plastic spoon but surely the consumer needs to be socially responsible too. The restaurant also needs to be ahead of the curve and show that it is socially responsible too. Federal and municipal governments are looking into SUP legislation. But TODAY, businesses and consumers should start doing their part. read more

This is probably one of my favorite restaurants to go to! The way it's set up is very beautiful, each time I go it's always flooded with people. It has to be because the experience you get while eating there. Being able to cook your own food while out with peers helps keep conversations flowing. Ate here last night with a few friends. Me and my gf came earlier to have a few drinks, was greeted at the door promptly. We came on a Tuesday(slow day) seated and was briefed of the iPad ordering system. As soon as we sat at the table.....I realized that it wasn't wipe or clean properly( hands n elbows became greasy real quick from oil splatters) anyways we started ordering off the menu. Food and drinks came to the table started cooking me expecting it was a Korean restaurant that small sides would come to the table without ordering ( like ushao) no sides at all came I had to order it which I didn't like at all. The food was meh a lot meats was over seasoned and too sweet for me and especially the mussels which was topped with some kind of garlic sauce which was so overpowering. Kewl idea and I believe one of the first of Korean bbq in Hamilton. Not a big fan of their chicken and how they marinate it. But other meats and vegetables are really good. We've been here a few times and it is a nice experience. Food is fresh and staff are very quick out of the kitchen. My only complaint is that it is over-priced. They provide little bowls of vegetable and small portions of meat. The meats are all fatty and bacon-like, the chicken tastes like what you would get in a stir fry. By the time two people eat, it is 60.00 on a "cheaper" night, and that is before drinks. Having a grill at the table is fun, but you can't eat enough for that amount of money, seriously. That being said, it is tasty (we had to seriously drink water after, salty!). Should be more around the 20-22.00 per person mark. read more

Attempting to cook my own food on an unfamiliar grill resulted in part burned part undercooked food. Easily fixable with practice if you enjoy the food and the experience and decide to keep going back for more. My poor rating was mostly because the bathroom is inaccessible (down a flight of stairs). I became ill and had to ditch my friends at the restaurant so that I could vomit in the parking lot with people walking by staring in disgust. read more

I mean it's not terrible, but it's definitely not good. I've been there a few times. The quality of most of the items there are poor and it's a lot of money to justify going. I've been told the seafood is good, but I don't eat most seafood, and the fish was very mediocre. The chicken was okay, but most of all, I'm disappointed that there wasn't any better vegetable options. Even the asparagus was bacon wrapped... I don't mean to complain about a restaurant clearly focused on meat, but when you're meat is poor quality and you can't even grill up some vegi's to justify a good meal, I am not a happy camper. Korean BBQ has always been a favourite of mine. I've been to this location 7 times since it's opened, which says a lot. The atmosphere is very nice here and most of the food and service is quite good. They really need chilli oil. Lol...I bring my own, and it makes the world of difference for the flavour of the squid/food. Some items require more seasoning for sure. The beef wrapped in enoki is tasteless. And all three chicken varieties aren't good either. But, what keeps me coming back is the sliced beef, the ribs, pork and the spicy tofu! I'd give them a 4.5! I'll be back for sure! Updated: ugh...I have to change my review...they have changed their ribs, which was a major reason I came here. It now has a weird salt seasoning to it and it's not like any proper Korean flavour I've ever tasted...and I've been to many Korean restaurants. Too bad. My boyfriend and I had gone there for lunch the other day while we were in Hamilton and we had ordered the all you can eat. Overall the food was good, the service was decent but a lot of the staff did not speak Korean at all. Most Korean restaurants will offer side dishes that come with your meal, but here you had to ask for them which wa a little disappointing. Staff looked like gentle workers, Gentlemen who was serving tried fitting our party of 4 to a single table. We asked for a booth and two grills as two of the parties were vegetarians and didn't want to cross contaminate. We were advised there were reservations for 5:00 & 5:30, we could not dine at a double grill table. It was 4:18 at the time we attended and there were over 5 empty tables. I had spotted this restaurant under construction when I dined at Spring Sushi earlier this year. When I found out that it was opening on December 1, I had to try it. I love the concept and love the interior design. It has a reasonably priced AYCE menu with an Ipad ordering system. They prepare the raw food, and you BBQ it at your table. I enjoyed my meal and the experience. It was quite good for an opening day. I had a 4.5 star experience; but I am giving them 5 stars, because I expect that it will get better with time. The idea of Korean bbq is that you order your meats and seafood and veggies and cook it on the grill in the middle of your table. My experience felt like there was never room on the grill for me. The portions were small and although it was all you can eat it seemed bothersome to have to keep ordering. Suddenly I was full with barely eating anything. Wasn't worth what I paid. I barely leave bad review online, but I feel that I should do this one. We went there last night with kids to celebrate new years eve. We went there few times and my kids loved there. But we all very disappointed this time. The waiter who served us was very inpatient for our requests. We had to asked 7 times just for fill hot water. He either ignored us or not bring enough, then didn't come back to fill the rest cups. We asked other waiters and no one did anything. One guy even said that " you want hot water? that's all you need to tell me", when I told him that I asked many times for it.Nobody ever apology for it at all. After asking for the 7th time, finally our server brought a whole hot water kettle but throw that on the table. The loud sound scared my kids. The whole night,he kept rolling his eyes with inpatient face whenever we asked for adding water or change the dirty grill, even when my little kids thanked him for adding water. But he was SUPER FRIENDLY with people on another table, just because he knew one guy there. We paid $100 for dinner but stayed thirsty the whole night. The only thing that he did very quick was bring us the bill. We were really unhappy with the service, but we still paid the tips. Just because it's new year eve and I know it's not a easy job. We were at table #12. I hope the manager/owner can retrain your staffs to treat everyone equally regardless. Because we all pay same money, we should be served in same manner.
