Undoubtedly one of my favourite restaurants in Hamilton, and definitely my favourite Korean food restaurant. This is a family owned restaurant. The food here is excellent and the service to match. We've had many dishes, and they are all excellent. We are yet to enjoy the hotpot/bbq. Stay tuned.

The last time we tried coming here, the restaurant was full, and we weren't able to wait 45 minutes for a seat, so we gave up. This time, we went at an odd time of the day (2pm on a Thursday), and was able to easily find a place to sit! One of the most annoying things about this place is parking. They have a parking lot that is reserved for the restaurant, but it's extremely small and hard to get in and out of. We ended up just street parking, but during the weekends, this can be quite a pain. We ordered one Dolsot bibimbap (hot stone bibimbap) and one Kkanpunggi (sweet and sour chicken). Once you put your order in, they give you small bowls of noodles as appetizers with hot tea. The noodles are in anchovy-based broth and is somyun/somen (thin wheat-flour noodles). The side dishes are mostly vegetable-based, and taste okay. The Dolsot bibimbap wasn't particularly special (just your average dolsot bibimbap), but had less meat than average ones. THe Kkanpunggi is... interesting. The sauce is NOT your typical Korean kkanpunggi sauce. Rather, it's a mix of ketchup and gochujang, so you can DEFINITELY taste the ketchup in the sauce. The Kkanpunggi is heavy on the sauce too, so if you're not a fan of thick-coated fried chicken, this dish may not be the one for you. It doesn't taste bad - don't get me wrong, but if you're looking for Korean-Korean kkanpunggi, then making a trip up to Toronto might be worth it. Overall, the service was good and the food was average, but for Hamilton, I think it's a solid 4-star. I think we might try the Jajianmyun and Jjambbong next time - it looked pretty good. :)

    Bibimbop - delicious!

Omg, this restaurant looks downright scary from the outside. From certain angles at the intersection, the place looks like it's closed. The inside does not fare that much better because of worn out chairs and tables but the food was GREAT. I tried a bowl of bibimbop and I'd highly recommend ordering that from this restaurant. My companion and I also tried deep-fried dumplings and it is alright at its price but they are nothing special and I wouldn't order them again. You could buy the frozen dumplings and deep fry them yourself. The food seems fresh. Parking here is very limited. They probably need to have better painted lines designating which areas people may park. At the time of my visit, a lot of cars were crammed into the space in a haphazard way.

This place is amazing and a great introduction to Korean food. I have been three times and will be back on my birthday next week! Great family run resteraunt and a testament to the fact Hamilton has great food if u look hard enough!

Tteokbokki is C$13.95, Japchae C$12.95, veggie kimbap C$12.95, Bab chicken C$15.95 (7 pieces), they charge you $2 to get the spicy sauce added to the app fried chicken. C$65.31 / $41.55. Their entree Bab Spicy sauce chicken is C$37.95 or $28, that's highway robbery for fried chicken to me. Worse if it's not out of this world good. It's rather unsettling. The banchans: cucumber, bean sprouts, fish cake and kimchi. The kimchi is crunchy and fresh. The Bab chicken with the spicy sauce is crispy and sauce is good, meat was tender too. Some fully intact tendon that looked like a worm coming out of the meat. I am done eating the chicken. The japchae comes with bulgogi beef. Potato noddles are hard to chew down. The tteokbokki is okay, rice cakes a bit too soft for me. Sauce isn't bad, has good heat to it. Comes with two dumplings. The veggie kimbap is mostly rice, quite weak for $10 for a roll. The round metal chopsticks are rather challenging. I prefer the metal flatter ones or wood. Staff are attentive. Food comes out quickly,

We really enjoyed the food. Would definitely recommend getting the Korean fried chicken or getting one of their hotpot as their portions are huge. We also got their Tteok bokki (rice cakes), the sauce was really tasty but a lot of their rice cakes were cracked or broken. Staff was nice and food came out fairly quickly! Would definitely recommend checking them out.

I checked Google too, before visiting this place, and it didn't seem like too bad based on the reviews and photos there. The restaurant has enough parking that you won't need to street park (even when it's busy), and there are plenty of tables inside that I doubt you'd need reservations for small parties, unless you're going with a big group. The inside of the restaurant DOES look a bit outdated and run down, and may not be the cleanest restaurant you'e been to. The service is great and staff is nice, so it makes up for the not-too-fancy interior. There are a BUNCH of students for some reason; I think we saw only one other family when we were there. They give you physical menus and a tablet to use to put your order in. We ordered Yukgyejang, Gamjatang, and Korean style fried chicken. The portions are pretty big (considering the lower-than-average prices), and the taste wasn't bad either. One of the down sides is that they only give you three side dishes, but the side dishes tasted pretty good. The Korean fried chicken was crunchy but seemed like they put a lot of ketchup in the sauce. Another perk(?) of this place is the free popsicles you can take as dessert after your meal. They have an icecream fridge close to the cashier so you can grab one as you leave. It was too cold for me or my husband to have the popsicles, but it seemed like a cute gesture on the restaurant's end.

That's probably where the excitement ended. The staff was nice, which was a plus. Presentation was alright. I ordered the seafood dish and it was spicy as promised but not very tasty. The seafood was alright-- I wasn't too happy about the prawns with heads still intact but that was a mild thing. The sides were okay but probably the only good thing about the food. The joint was disgusting hygene wise, washrooms were abysmal with no toilet paper. Worst thing is my whole family was sick for days after. We didn't eat the same thing. I had stomach trouble and couldn't sleep from my nausea and I had it the worst out of all of us. Would not recommend. Don't let the Google reviews fool you. Avoid this place.
