Really authentic Korean food! From the outside, this is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant but it was decent inside. The restaurant was pretty busy around 7pm on Saturday evening so you might want to make reservations. We got 5 dishes to share for the 5 of us. Everything was delicious especially the Seafood pancake and Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). I would definitely come back for these two dishes. Note that they are pretty slow with preparing the food so don't come here if you need a quick dinner. read more

Korea House is a nice, small, and cozy Korean restaurant located in downtown Hamilton. The parking area is very small, so parking space can be tight. Service is friendly, fast, and efficient. The menu consists of all the typical and traditional Korean dishes. The banchan comes in 3 small dishes (bean sprouts, pickled radish, and fish cake slices). I had the Dolsot Bibimbap, which they were able to customize to be vegetarian (with tofu instead of beef). Overall it's good, familiar, comforting hot food. The warm Korean rice tea is also great as usual (one of my favourite tea types). read more

Came on a Sunday night as we were passing through Hamilton on the way home from a long drive. There were only 3 tables seated. Service was very slow considering how many people were actually being served in person. Ordered beef udon ($17), chicken katsu donburi ($22), dduk baegi bulgogi ($20). Place is small, hole-in-the wall type place that has seen better days but I came for the food. They had wooden dividers that easily fell over which could have fallen on people. Place was dark inside, pretty cold, not too inviting. Service was very slow - waited probably 45 mins. When food came out it was not boiling hot which I was expecting from a stone bowl type dish. Bulgogi tasted alright, but the katsu was not crispy - it was covered in all of the egg and vegetables and completely mushy. Payment was manual, handwritten in Korean on paper (not helpful for those who cannot read it) - we had to go up to the front cash to pay. Maybe it was not the restaurant's best night? I have had better Korean food elsewhere. read more

The last time we tried coming here, the restaurant was full, and we weren't able to wait 45 minutes for a seat, so we gave up. This time, we went at an odd time of the day (2pm on a Thursday), and was able to easily find a place to sit! One of the most annoying things about this place is parking. They have a parking lot that is reserved for the restaurant, but it's extremely small and hard to get in and out of. We ended up just street parking, but during the weekends, this can be quite a pain. We ordered one Dolsot bibimbap (hot stone bibimbap) and one Kkanpunggi (sweet and sour chicken). Once you put your order in, they give you small bowls of noodles as appetizers with hot tea. The noodles are in anchovy-based broth and is somyun/somen (thin wheat-flour noodles). The side dishes are mostly vegetable-based, and taste okay. The Dolsot bibimbap wasn't particularly special (just your average dolsot bibimbap), but had less meat than average ones. THe Kkanpunggi is... interesting. The sauce is NOT your typical Korean kkanpunggi sauce. Rather, it's a mix of ketchup and gochujang, so you can DEFINITELY taste the ketchup in the sauce. The Kkanpunggi is heavy on the sauce too, so if you're not a fan of thick-coated fried chicken, this dish may not be the one for you. It doesn't taste bad - don't get me wrong, but if you're looking for Korean-Korean kkanpunggi, then making a trip up to Toronto might be worth it. Overall, the service was good and the food was average, but for Hamilton, I think it's a solid 4-star. I think we might try the Jajianmyun and Jjambbong next time - it looked pretty good. :) read more

In Korea, some of the best restaurants for quality of food and taste can be found in restaurants that have unattractive interiors, so I wasn't put off that much initially. The stained carpets probably needed to be replaced in the 90's, for example. The food wasn't that bad. We had Sam gyup sal. It was completely frozen when it came to our table, and since there was a problem with the BBQ, it took forever to cook. But overall, it was worth the wait. What I didn't understand is how they could charge downtown Toronto prices at a place in the middle of now where-Hamilton in a hole in the wall. Obviously, you save some money on completely ignoring the interior of your restaurant. $28 for one serving of Sam gyup sal. Wow! And get this, you need to pay extra $3 if you want more lettuce! Only ten pieces approximately come with every two servings you order. We found this outrageous. I could understand if the prices were more reasonable, but they are already overcharging, and then they need to add $3 for lettuce. Maybe next time I'll try to bring my own lettuce. But more likely, I won't come here again. read more

Omg, this restaurant looks downright scary from the outside. From certain angles at the intersection, the place looks like it's closed. The inside does not fare that much better because of worn out chairs and tables but the food was GREAT. I tried a bowl of bibimbop and I'd highly recommend ordering that from this restaurant. My companion and I also tried deep-fried dumplings and it is alright at its price but they are nothing special and I wouldn't order them again. You could buy the frozen dumplings and deep fry them yourself. The food seems fresh. Parking here is very limited. They probably need to have better painted lines designating which areas people may park. At the time of my visit, a lot of cars were crammed into the space in a haphazard way. read more

I have driven by Korea House for so long and I've always thought they were permanently closed. Craving Korean a couple months ago and not too impressed with the other places, I decided to search and found positive reviews for this restaurant. First off, parking is so difficult. Their lot is the size of a child's shoebox. Cars will park in front of you if you're backed up near the big trash bin. Difficult. Come during off hours if possible. Walking in there was nobody in the place and I got so nervous. I went forward and ordered the spicy cakes and fish slices (toppoki?), soon tofu seafood soup, and chicken katsu. The side dishes served were not amazing but still delicious. The food came out in a timely manner. The rice cakes were so incredibly soft and lots of fish slices. The spicyness was phenomenal. I have always ordered this since (been back 3 times). The tofu was silky and smooth. Perfect. There was a sufficient amount of seafood so I didn't feel ripped off. My go to order if it's cold out. My friend had the chicken katsu and I was surprised he finished it all. The portions were huge. The chicken was crispy and delicious. I've also gotten bulgogi and pork neck for the grill. Completely worth it as it comes with a soup as well. This definitely fills more than 2 people. Definitely my new Korean joint. read more

This place looks like a little hole in the wall, which usually means it should be good. The restaurant itself is kind of old and looks very run down. The food is okay. I had the pork bone soup, the soup was okay, the pork was dry and it did not fall off the bone. I also had the bulgogi which was cold and not hot when served. The service is lacking as it seems it is just the son of the owner running around. He is not very attentive. My favorite Korean restaurant in Hamilton and one of my favorites in Ontario. Have ordered many dishes here with small and large groups and we have all always enjoyed the food. The cook is extremely skilled in making authentic Korean dishes. I highly recommend the yukhoe (beef sashimi), jjangpong (spicy seafood broth with noodles), and yang jang pi (seafood, vegetable medley with a spicy wasabi, mustard-like sauce). Others recommend the donkatsu and kimchi jigae. Only con is the neighborhood and their limited reserved parking for large groups. But that genuinely doesn't take away from the amazing dishes. I was surprised they weren't on Yelp - as of today, that is :). Hope this review reaches out to people who enjoy Korean food as myself. Highly recommend! read more

Location, decor and side dishes really is a 2-3 star but a dish really stood out for me. This location has the beat tang su yuk.. sweet and sour pork probably in all of gta. It's in Hamilton of all places.. ghetto dirty and most people won't come across it. Why it's so good? Mom and pop shop who tries to perfect their dishes for the love of food. The tang su yuk is a large plate of about 20 pieces. It honestly stays crispy and is encased with a crunchy undertone that lasts to the very last piece. This is a place to go if you want authentic Korean food and experience (I lived in Korea for 10 years, so I have a good idea of what to expect). The ambiance is not there and it looks very tired inside, but real Korean restaurants don't usually focus on decor, whereas the food is typically the main focus. We ordered 4 different dishes among our group, and it was overall good, but I've had better. The prices were reasonable though, and I would probably go back if I need a Korean food fix. read more

The best Korean food in Hamilton, we go at least once a month. The banchan are decent but the main dishes are incredible. We've tried the BBQ, kimchi bokkeumbap, kimchi jjigae, donkatseu, jjeyuk dopbap, jjajangmyeon, and many more - all are very good. Save time and park on Victoria or another side street. The parking lot is tiny, usually full, and cars are always double parked. read more
