We got married at SCR in July of this year and the entire experience was perfect for both us and our guests. From the first moment we arrived at the ranch, our two very enthusiastic dogs jumping straight out of the car and into Spring Creek, we felt right at home. We were welcomed by Sarah into the most beautiful and peaceful setting, just a very short walk across one of the ranch's alfalfa fields and the suspension bridge, into town. Besides being incredibly beautiful the location was extra appealing because it allowed for all of our guests to reserve accommodations at several of the lodges nearby and walk to the wedding festivities, no transport needed. Plus several of our entire wedding party was able to stay at the ranch with us. The guests raved about the beautiful drive through the mountains to Winthrop (Lake Diablo is always a highlight) and loved discovering this unique town in the mountains. One of our favorite things about SCR is Sarah, who owns and operates the ranch along with her husband and two sweet girls. Sarah was so wonderful to work with, she didn't even bat an eye when we told her we were hoping to have dueling pianos at our reception! She was completely accommodating of all our wishes, so we felt like we had a huge amount of freedom in planning the wedding exactly the way we wanted it to be. She was able to chime in with her experience about what had worked particularly well in previous weddings and provided great guidance in event layout, guest flow, timing etc. She was incredibly responsive over email, I always felt like she was giving our party her top priority. She is a great wedding resource for the Methow Valley because she seems to know everyone! We were able to source almost our entire wedding locally thanks to her recommendations - wedding food and cake from Joanne and Arrow Leaf Bistro, wine from Lost River Winery, beer from Twisp River Pub, flowers from Lexi and Twisp River Flowers, brunch from Rocking Horse Bakery, a welcome BBQ from the Northcotts, rentals from Lake Chelan Rentals and she recommended our day-of coordinator - Sol Gutierrez (who also works at the Copper Glance, the best place to direct your guests for a wedding after party!). The day of the wedding was a roller coaster, we experienced heavy rain in the morning, flash flood warnings and thunder and lightning throughout the day so Sarah and Sol had their hands full keeping things running smoothly (and keeping the wedding party calm). However, everything turned out perfectly! The rain cleared up just in time for the wedding, the temperature was perfect and the lingering clouds made for some very beautiful and dramatic photos. If you are looking for an outdoor wedding destination with a slightly rustic feel, with personalized wedding planning guidance and a lot of local options, we definitely recommend SCR, we and our guests couldn't have been happier.

As we…read morewere traveling with 3 families - a total of 7 adults, and 3 kids under 5 - we were able to bring 3 cars with us. The rental was spacious with one master, and two additional bedrooms. One bedroom had both a bunkbed and a queen size bed. In addition, there was a pullout sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen had all the necessities we needed. In fact, I could have baked something if I knew baking ware was included. And all of the cooking pans, tools and other kitchen amenities were of quality. No scratches on the pans as I normally see in other places we have rented. The view was stunning as it was the water and mountain that took the view. Not even a 5 minute walk, there are a bunch of bars/wineries and food options to peruse. And about 20-30 minutes drive in/out are the larger, fancier wineries. There was also a casino in the area as well. The price tag is a bit on the higher end but is doable for bigger groups so as to split the cost. I would certainly recommend this place and would love to return. Communication between the property manager and I were prompt, which I appreciate very much.

The kitchen had all the necessary utensils, plates, cups, pots, and pans. In one of the mornings, we even made pancakes! Bathrooms were large enough which was nice especially in a large group. Red Apples was about 10 min away. Beware though, if you're hungry in the middle of the night, make sure to stock up in the fridge because their grocery stores are not 24-hours like in Seattle. Fortunately, I brought enough beef jerkeys. We didn't have time to explore Downtown Mason, but that was only two blocks away. Boat and other water activities rentals were also two blocks away which was great! We rented a boat and went on a winery tour in Chelan. Downtown Chelan was about 30 minutes away from where we stayed at, but the drive wasn't too bad. You do need to take out the trash and put in a load into the laundry machine before you leave though. I think that's normal if you're renting for a few days. The only downside was the noise upstair. There was another bachelorette party above us so I was able to hear them in the middle of the night whilst I was trying to sleep. However, the noise wasn't too bad since the other gals in my group slept quite well. I was just a light sleeper. Debbie, our main source of contact was very professional. We were able to check in early. Tracey, I think that was her name, was very helpful as well. Our code to get into our place didn't work so we had to get another code. Tracey, who was there when we arrived, made sure that we had a code that worked. But other than that, I would definitely come again with my family. If only they accept small dogs. I would definitely bring my Maltese if they allow it. :)

The hobbit house was very whimsical and adorably crafted. The fireplace worked well. There's electricity via a generator and primitive plumbing but no kitchenette or anything. We brought a little electric griddle that we prepped our seven hobbit meals on, and that worked well. The woodwork and ornate door is beautiful, and I loved the cute bathroom. We tried to fill the tub, but there isn't enough hot water to do it, and the draining is a bit complicated. Knowledge of how to operate a generator and problem solve electrical and plumbing issues may make your stay more enjoyable. No mention of the generator was in the listing, so when we checked in, we weren't sure at first why we didn't have electricity. We read the house book in detail, and luckily my husband is super handy and got us running. Despite the generator working, we still lost power and plumbing pressure more than once, and he was running outside in the chilly hobbit air to fix them. It didn't dampen our experience at all.. it was like camping, but it should be in the listing in case you aren't as handy as my husband is. Had I been there alone, I would have been in trouble for sure!

I never knew such a place can exist in the PNW but anything is possible right? Location: A few miles past Chelan (on HWY US-97 North) two miles up the switchback gravel dirt road and tucked into the hillside to the left lies The LOTR inspired Hobbit Hole. It is about a 3-3.5 hour drive from Seattle. Parking: There is a designated parking spot reserved for the Airbnb. You will have to take a very short but steep walk to the entrance. Ambiance: I felt like I was in Bilbo Baggins house. Kristie (the Airbnb host) did an amazing job with every single detail. From the garden setup with a small picket fence on the outside to the cozy, non-modern wood crafted set up on the inside. The place was very clean, well prepared and well themed. The fireplace is the only source for heat but you only need to turn it on for a few minutes to warm up the entire place. We were served with fresh baked cookies as a greeting. A few items that are provided are herbal tea, coffee, water, an electric kettle, drinking mugs, toiletries, disposable wooden silverwares and a few games. Also provided is a station for wood chiseling if you want to tap into your creative side. This hobbit hole is very small and intimate, a perfect getaway for couples. View: Beautiful views looking through the hobbit door of the Columbia River Gorge Mountainside! Note: You will definitely get a feel of Middle Earth since it's a few miles from civilization. No wifi or cellphone service in the Hobbit Hole. I was able to get a little reception from Verizon at the parking spot. The septic tank goes off once in awhile and it can be a little noisy but nothing unbearable. The ceiling decoration above the bed is very low. If you a LOTR fanatic, then this is something to check out!

Over the next few days we also noticed the following: 1) under the bed there are numerous boxes, two microwaves and a pair of dirty socks. 2) 2 out of 4 of the bathroom light bulbs were not working. 3) the bathroom cabinet has a bunch of random stuff including an empty tp roll. 4) the fireplace was taken apart and the thermostat was hanging off the wall. 5) a candy wrapper under the couch. 6) top of the fridge was disgustingly dirty. 7) cabinets are messy and disorganized. 8) carpets are super dirty. 9) random sleds and rubber glove in parking area. 10) windows are also disgusting. This place doesn't feel like a rental. It feels like someone's house that wasn't expecting guests. Creepy. Also, the "hot tub" is not hot and doesn't have functioning jets. It seems to have been that way for a long time. I reached out to management and they completely brushed off my concerns. They came by to put the fireplace back together and screw in the light bulbs that weren't working, but otherwise nothing. They tried to say it was because it was a same day turn around, but this place is chronically dirty and disorganized. I get that the cabin is old, but for $200/ night I would expect it to be clean. We will never stay here again and we WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone! There are way better places to stay.

Our cabin, #40A, was very nice, with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths in a small house built from locally cut logs. Its appliances, etc., worked fine. The managers were very nice and helpful. The resort has an outdoor swimming pool, which was unheated but nice, and a covered hot tub, open 24 hours. We were close to both. We stayed during the week in August, and had very few neighbors. THE PROBLEM: The cabin is infested with mice. A few ran across the living room during the day, but at night they came out in force. They attacked the shelf where our food was, chewed a hole in a bread wrapper and ate a good-sized chunk of the loaf. So if you go, bring your cat!

The conference room table downstairs would be pretty epic for a team offsite. The views are stellar and to have the river as the backdrop to the entire stay was superb! The A-frame "annex" staircase is super noisy so there's no discrete way to go up or down those stairs for others that are sleeping. Also, the Wi-Fi struggles to maintain a signal in that loft area, and thankfully my Apple TV and other devices did okay regardless. A second node over on that side would strengthen that easily. My husband and I stayed in the Loft Suite which was nice and private and also perfect for Mario Kart tournaments in the downstairs section (we brought our Nintendo Switch and hooked it up to their projector). These homes are huge, beautiful, and well stocked for any sort of gathering. Julie was my point person during the booking process and stay and was helpful, friendly, and easy to get a hold of. She responded quickly to all of my questions and even delivered flowers to the vacation home that had been delivered to her own home (an extra ~30 min drive each way for her). She went out of her way to make sure that our weekend was special and she succeeded in every way possible! We could not have been happier with our stay at Riverside Properties and will definitely plan to come back in the future.
