I have stayed in two Methow Reservations properties on three different occasions, and I've always had a great experience. The first two times were during prime wildfire season and the fires got close to where I had planned to stay, but they called me beforehand and offered to reschedule me without any hassle. After my first stay had been postponed due to the fires, I got really sick, and they again allowed me to reschedule without any trouble. A quick update to my review from the Spring. We had another great stay in Methow Valley. This Central Reservations went way over the top in helping us. We booked a cabin in Mazama as we usually do, but as the date approached, the Diamond Creek wildfire advanced toward Mazama and the evacuation level was raised to 2. There was never any real danger, and the local people took it in stride, but being city-folk my wife and I freaked. We considered cancelling the trip, but the great folks at Central Reservations offered to switch us to a place in Winthrop (~15 miles away but well out of the fire zone). They also let us delay our decision to the last minute in case the fire abated. In the end, we took them up on their offer, switched to Winthrop, and had a great time. Thanks, Central Reservations! For the benefit of folks not from the Northwest, wildfires are common during the dry season. This particular fire was burning in a wilderness area 11 miles north of Mazama and proceeding further north into Canada. The fire never directly threatened Mazama. The fire managers are very cautious in setting evacuation levels. Level 2 means there's a potential for the situation to become dangerous and folks should be prepared to evacuate promptly if required. They raised the level to 2 when the winds shifted and there was a chance the fire might advance over a ridge and down a creek bed toward the town. This didn't happen and the evacuation level was reduced in a few days, in fact, the day after we arrived in the area. read more

I have used Central Reservations for many years whenever my friends and I go to the Methow Valley, usually for a cross country ski trip that includes hanging out together and sharing meals in a house or cabin. Their website is great; easy to find what places meets our needs w/re pets, number of bedrooms, etc., and they also provide great personal service. I usually use AirBNB for other places in the world when I want some kind of specialized accommodation other than a standard hotel room, but for the Methow Valley my friends and I only use Central Reservations. read more

We rented the J & D Guesthouse throw Methow Reservations for an early summer vacation and were initially very excited about our time in Winthrop on the river. However, we were never made aware, at any time, that this property was also dual-use public boat launch. Since we have been at this rental, we have had 3+ vehicles randomly come through our private rental entrance and launch their boats in the river behind our rental house (on the rental property in which we paid for). We have small children and expensive property that we brought to this rental, but with strangers walking through the property on a daily basis, we do not feel safe and comfortable staying here. When we called to voice our concerns to Methow Reservations, specifically the "owner" of this establishment, we were met with shocking hostility, disrespect and unprofessional language. The lack of customer service, overall awareness of the situation and compassion for our legitimate concerns was saddening and we will encourage all family and friends in the future to take their business elsewhere. read more

Very happy with Methow Reservations. The service was easy to use, and helped us find a lovely place to stay in Winthrop. The check-in instructions they sent were clear and easy to follow. The Purple Sage unit we stayed in was charming and comfortable, with a surprisingly well-stocked kitchen and a deck overlooking the river -- an excellent value for the price. I am updating my review to 4 stars instead of 5 because we had to reschedule and cancel one of our bookings this season and ended up incurring $78 in credit card fees through Central Reservations. The fact that they pass along the fees (4% per transaction i.e. charge, refund, etc) to the customer is fine, but please at least make the customer aware! Perhaps at the time of booking or revise the FAQ on the site that says "Central Reservations is a free service to you and does not charge any kind of booking or service fees" as that feels a bit misleading. read more

If you are planning on visiting any of the towns or resorts in the Methow Valley and will need a place to stay, Central Reservations is simply the best way to find the lodging that is right for you. Seriously, this area has a wide variety of lodging and the amenities and locations vary considerably. When I contacted Central Reservations, I spoke to a real person who lives in the valley and they provided me with detailed information about each place and location and gave me recommendations. I contacted them because I was going Winthrop on short notice and I couldn't find any decent lodging. Central Reservations provided me with a wide range of options, explained the amenities and locations and helped me find a charming room on the river exactly where I wanted to be and for the right price. Their service didn't end there. When I got to the room, I had difficulty with the lock. I hadn't read the instructions correctly. I called Central Reservations, spoke to someone who personally knew the unit and who resolved the issue in less than a minute without making me feel like a dunce. It took 16 minutes to make a simple hotel reservation. I thought I had called the hotel directly until a few minutes into the conversation it was obvious I was not talking to the hotel directly. i was okay with making a reservation with a reservation specialist until the call became excruciating. The person didnt listen to any of my answers, such as "no, i don't need a shuttle, I have my own car" Spelling my name took at least 5 times, and my name is as simple as Pat Smith. Having a local property manager makes all the difference in ensuring properties are clean, in great working order and a good value. 1 star only because the husband and wife were so rude it was unbelievable. Went in to let them know the WiFi wasn't working and the wife belittled us calling us "you people from seattle" and said we were being "intensely angry" when we were just letting them know that it wasn't working. I was really upset by the way we were treated. We are also from a small town and were surprised by the lack of hospitality and we are not "from Seattle"and didn't expect this kind of customer service. We had a college student staying with us in our cabin who relied on the WiFi to do her studies. Plus, we booked this cabin because they said there was WiFi. The wolf creek cabins are wonderful, just expect to be treated like an outsider when dealing with the husband/wife combo. They clearly do not like out of towners. 5 stars for the cabins though. read more
