To call this place a "cabin" is like calling the Four Seasons a 1 star hotel. We've been fortunate to stay at the Apres Cabin 2 winter seasons in a row. This amazing home has welcomed two families with a bundle of children (2 x 9, 2 x 7 and a 7 mo yr old). Justin, our host, is very communicative, pro active (offering us opened days prior to our stay and an early check in) and super responsive during our stay. If you've never been to the Methow Valley/Mazama, there is the Mazama Country Store which is known for its salted baguettes which sell out most days....we arrived on a late friday afternoon and unfortunately, the store was already sold out. Lo and behold, we walked into Apres Cabin and on the kitchen counter were baked goods from Mazama Country Store, including a salted baguette as well as a selection of wine and cider from a local winery. Justin just knows what we need after a long road trip.
Apres Cabin embraces the concept of hygge, it's just comfortable. The main floor is well thought of, open communal space with a well appointed kitchen. I typically travel with a lot of my own cooking items - knives, espresso maker, etc, but Apres Cabin has all the accoutrements required for the home cook/chef. There are three main sleeping areas...basically two masters and a "bunk room" that is unlike any other bunk room. On the main floor there is the traditional master with the most comfortable bed and a letter box window that looks out on the valley and you can see the stars from your pillow..natures posturepedic. A HUGE shower and tub and a cylinder of water that comes from the sky...you'll see. The upstairs bedroom features a similar bed and window set up, but also includes a steam shower. Our kids called it their "spa.". Pillowy bathrobes included. The "bunk room" features four full size bunk beds that can accommodate the most discerning child or adult. Our children called the room, their Kids Club.
The location is perfect. You can practically ski in/ski out of all the best that the Methow Valley has to offer. The gear garage is well equipped and we've paid the extra cost both visits and more then got our monies worth. They have a gas lined piped grill (if you know, you know) and a wood outdoor fire place that was ideal for s'mores. We are still coming down from the high of such an epic stay at Apres Cabin and already dreaming about our next stay. read more
