The cabin was perfect for a nice time with my wife and I to get away and really relax. Cabin 14 was a nice cabin too. We stayed in this one our second night. No hot tub with this one but still very nice. The breakfast was great. The food options were diverse and tasty. Kendra personally offered to make us some terrific scrambled eggs because of my limited diet. I totally recommend this place if you want a great escape from the chaos that life sometimes throws at us. read more

We paid $417 for two weekend nights in October. Other notes / Possible Cons - * The sound bleed is so bad. We could fully hear the conversation, footsteps, and movie of the room next to us. So if you don't like that I would definitely recommend getting one of the separated cabins. * A lot of the appliances (TV, fireplace. Etc.) didn't work but it wasn't a huge issue because it wasn't too cold and you're in nature - why need a TV? * Breakfast is homemade and they say it's from 8 - 9:30 AM but really all the food is gone around 9. Again, not really an issue for us since we didn't really eat the breakfast. Good coffee though :) read more

Not a bad inn for $130 weeknight stay. Though perhaps our rate was lower than typical because it turns out almost nothing in town is open on Tues/Wed... Staff couldn't tell us how to walk into town or how long it would take us, just that it was a five minute drive (sad). There's an easy foot path and pedestrian bridge you can access just down the road through the Methow River Lodge & Cabins. It was maybe a ten minute walk to town, and a lovely one at that. We requested a quiet room and were placed upstairs all the way at the back, and we were pleased. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Bathtub had trouble draining, so we kept that short and sweet. No one to report that to next day upon checkout as you just leave your room keys in a bowl on the counter and that's that. No wifi, but our room had a dvd/vcr player, and there is an impressive selection of movies for guests to borrow. We went with a nostalgic Ewok Adventure on VHS, and let me tell you it was a solid choice. Breakfast downstairs included decent coffee, hot veggie quiche, english muffins with cream cheese, and blueberry pound cake. A nice touch, especially since there was nowhere in town open for us to get breakfast. I guess we'll have to come back to Winthrop over a weekend to experience the town at its fullest. I wouldn't mind staying at Chewuch Inn & Cabins again when I do. read more

When I arrived, I walked into a cabin that was already occupied by another guest. This is an extremely serious safety and privacy breach. It delayed me for over two hours, derailed my plans for the evening, and created a situation that could have easily escalated into something far worse. What made the situation even more concerning was the behavior of the front desk staff. I stood at the counter for several minutes while two employees were completely disengaged, focused on their phones, and unresponsive until I prompted them. It pointed to drug use in my opinion. Another guest--the person who was also placed in the room I paid for--received a full refund on the spot. I was told I would receive 50%, but was instead given only 15%. I did not argue in front of other customers. I also need to clarify that I booked this cabin specifically for the hot tub listed as an amenity. The hot tub was broken: the control panel didn't function, the jets could not be turned off, and the temperature never exceeded 95°. That is not a usable hot tub, and had I been told it was out of service, I would have accepted the offer to relocate and receive a full refund. "Kitchen" was also missing many basic items. I have repeatedly requested to speak with higher management and have been denied or ignored each time. Given the safety breach, the unusable amenities, the unprofessional conduct of staff, the disruption to my stay, and the inconsistent refund, I can't recommend this to anyone. read more

This is a wonderful stopping place in Winthrop. Walking distance to downtown. All the cabins are remodeled and very nice. The breakfast is served in a common area that is open 24 hrs. They also have dvds for borrowing found in this area. We loved the breakfast with quiche, oatmeal, scones, coffee cake, fruit, waffles, and more. We had two large bucks outside our back door, and there were does and fawns meandering the property. Great place and reasonably priced. read more

We rented the cabin with a hot tub which was very disappointing because it did not heat up over 87 degrees. The continental breakfast was nothing to write home about. Cabin itself was nice. The air conditioner was loud. Was it worth $200 no we could have gone down the road and got the same thing for half the price. read more

Hidden gem in Winthrop! Super glad I chose this place to stay for our visit to the North Cascades. We stayed in room #20- very spacious and had a fireplace with a cute side porch we enjoyed sitting out at night on. The room was very clean and had comfy bed with large bathroom and all the extras. The breakfast is very good - homemade blueberry bread pudding and ham/cheese quiche, plus option to make a waffle, eat yogurt, etc... This BB is a good $ deal too! The only suggestion is to make breakfast start earlier. 8 am is too late for those of us wanting to get to the trailheads before the crowds. read more

WOW this stay exceeded our exceptions! My husband and I stayed here for two nights while we were exploring North Cascades NP. We were checked in quickly, got a little tour of the property, and then moved our stuff into our room. The room we had was clean and very spacious! I was also surprised by their breakfast selection. They had a hot, homemade entree, as well as homemade pastries. They also had bagels, waffle maker, fruit, coffee, juice. I haven't stayed in a place in a long time that had hot breakfast and so many options! I will say, I wish breakfast stated a little earlier, current times are 8-930am. Personally, I would have liked to get to the park a little earlier but didn't want to miss out on breakfast! Thanks for the great stay! read more

Ants all over our room when we first checked in. A woman at the front desk sprayed and we were still dealing with it on day 3. Checking out, I mentioned the issue to which the very curt lady at the front desk replied, "Okay." I don't know who put someone like this in a customer service position, but this was a very poor decision. I've never reported an issue with a room and gotten the response "Okay" then someone proceeds to look at me like I am the one at fault. Poor customer service and poor management. The walls are paper thin. The beds are terrible uncomfortable. The pillows are incredibly thin. Gross place and horrible customer service. read more

Adequate rooms and breakfast. Staff was friendly. I liked the common spaces. But I would not book again on principle because of the owners policies. The two-night minimum stay was more than we needed for the national park, it isn't staffed 24 hours, and their horrific cancelation policy where you basically agree to pay unless they can re-rent the room. They have no incentive to do that so good luck. In a post-covid world, flexibility is being offered by all the major chains, even industries like airlines, and the Inn is still living in the past. I didn't even need to cancel I just disagree with the policy. read more

This is our favorite little get away in Winthrop! We always book the Romantic King Cabin with private hot tub and you will not be disappointed! The cabins are gorgeous and kept in very good working order. The hot tub is clean! Bedding is soft and clean! The staff is friendly and helpful. Very nice continental buffet breakfast. We had a wonderful weekend at the Chewuch Inn. Our cabin was well appointed and cozy. We we're so hungry each morning after skiing the previous day, and the breakfasts hit the spot! Lots of selection and several greasy baked goods each day. We have stayed at several places up and down the valley and we've found our home spot! The Chewuch Inn should not be compared to the Waldorf Astoria, the W or even a Best Western as it's in it's own right, completely different, unique and refreshing. Date of stay: 06/17/2016 thru 06/19/2016 Cabin stayed: #10, Bailey Things to be aware of about this cabin: Does not permit pets inside which is nice because I have allergies. It has a VCR/DVD combo and you can at zero cost, check out DVDs and VHS (yeah, VHS) from their litle library they have adjacent to the dining area. I checked out Bevery Hills Cop II, Dumb and Dumber, The Fugitive and Mr. Bean. The basic cable will force you outdoors the shows on the supposed "Learning (TLC) Channel" just suck. Has a propane grill with the appropriate lighter, ask for instructions as I scared and started my grilling experience at this cabin with a loud bang! They don't change the towels out for you daily nor is there daily room service redoing your bed each day but you should have plenty of various towels to hold you over for at least three to five days. The toiletries they provide such as lotion, a shampoo conditioner combo and the skin care soaps are pretty good and even feel better I have used at about a few hotels in Las Vegas! I cannot believe this place comes with the following: Forks Spoons Hot water maker Coffee maker Kitchenette Propane BBQ grill (and the tank isn't empty!) Cups Glasses Bowls and a mixing bowl Dish soap Sponge Drying rack Has a patio with a couple chairs and a table. And it doesn't face any neighbors. Plus, you are almost guaranteed a deer sighting a few times a day! It's got enough room for a couple and you're sort of pushing space capacity with a toddler. Check out time: 11:00 AM and this makes sense because their cleaning crew has to clean an entire cabin that day including everyone else that checked out. You're about 15 minutes away from the Chickadee trail head and about five minutes away from an IGA grocery store, eateries and a gas station. Even walking to these places is realistic as there's an entire pathway laid out for you. Breakfast here is from 8AM to 9:30 AM Do not expect anything as elaborate or over salted as you'd get at a hotel. It seems like quiche, granola, fruit, a waffle maker, cereals and pastries are the norm. Orange juice and coffee are available too. The food is decent and they do try to keep everything in stock but each day things ran out and you either have to mention something to the staff or kind of just wait it out and hope for the best after 9AM. The dining area is quite comfortable and you can sort of detect a lot of people are from Seattle because you'll feel the "freeze". So this really highlights the kindness of the staff since there's more a genuine care for humanity. And yes, I can say that about Seattle because I reside in there. Guest service: They're homely nice. Accommodating as much as they can be. Very pleasant. Would I stay here again? Yes. Though I was trying to get away from the toxicities of living in the Seattle area but somehow took some of the people and weather with me, being able to have a cabin, kind staff and the great outdoors put me at a lot of ease and felt like a true vacation. read more

We have stayed here twice. The second and most recent time we stayed in one of their new cabins. WOW! WOW! WOW! The Bed was comfortable - which for a hotel is not very common. The cabin itself had really neat decor. We felt like we were in a mini-home. It was awesome and made a really relaxing interlude in the middle of our two week vacation. We loved the cabin so much that we are going to come back and book it for a week next year. BTW - The breakfast is gourmet. One of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever had. read more

Not just because it's free, but because it's delicious! ;) This served as a good halfway point during our drive between Spokane and Vancouver, and I wasn't expecting much since the Winthrop I knew about 15 years ago was not a place you'd want to stop if you had a choice. But this experience has changed my opinion dramatically. We're hoping to get back to Winthrop and the Chewuch Inn to spend at least a few days to take more advantage of its close proximity to great hiking in the Cascades! read more

Dan was easy to work with in the booking process. Keelie was great at check-in. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. I wouldn't really consider this a bed & breakfast...more of a hybrid between a B&B and a hotel, compared with other B&B's that I've experienced that always included a some nteraction with the owners. Here, we never even saw Dan or Sue. Food was okay and everything was clean but I did miss that personal touch that is usually the difference in paying a little more than a regular hotel room. read more

My husband and I have been to the Chewuch Inn for a few years now, it's a bit of a winter tradition. The Inn is close to the community trailhead, walking distance to town and the grocery store, and as friendly as it gets. You can't beat the breakfast before a day of skiing, the hot tub after, or the general friendliness of Dan and Sally, the owners, and their staff during your visit. We often stay in the cabins ("romantic" version has a fireplace, "country" type has a sofa and full table - better for kids I suppose). We've also stayed in their new King rooms (upscale and very very nice) and a couple of the rooms in the actual main building (Eagle's Nest - smaller but up top, Dancing Bears - kitchenette, fireplace and a bit more room for clothes/skis than even the cabins). The one knock I'd give the cabins (especially the romantic ones) is there isn't any great place for your clothes - can't store the luggage under the bed since it's a platform. It's super minor though, and really only an issue in the winter when you have ski clothes and normal clothes hanging all over the place. But just ask ahead, they've got a lot of different rooms with a lot of different configurations and one will fit your and your stuff just perfectly. Ok, one more minor complaint - stronger coffee needed in the breakfast room! But you have your own coffee maker with excellent nearly unlimited coffee, so you can make your own as black as sludge ;-) Once or twice we've dreamed of getting our own cabin in the Methow, but why would we when the Chewuch makes it just so easy and pleasant? read more

Stayed here over last weekend in unit 16. Huge room that is very well appointed. King bed is awesome, and I need that for my '6"5 size, to many places only have Queens! The room had a great big soaker tub that my wife enjoyed. It also had a fridge, coffee maker, microwave, gas fireplace, and a nice deck to chill on. I stay in hotels for a living, this place is very nice. Great location, and the breakfast was pretty darn good as well. If you are expecting to be seated at a giant table and meeting guests like someone else mentioned? The breakfast is buffet, so have the right expectations and you will love this place. We booked at the Chewuch Inn as an opportunity to try out their cabins. The property is off the main drag, but within a healthy walk of downtown via the grand footbridge. We stayed in a "romantic queen" cabin, which comes fairly appointed with a full size coffee-maker, microwave, mini-fridge and even an electric skillet and outdoor grill. There is a quaint outdoor table set outdoors, and the wildlife abounds daily; everything from deer to wild turkey. The pros- The inn area is quiet, even though the cabin backed up to a road nearby, the noise was minimal. There is a fireplace and AC, and plenty of lighting. The bed is comfortable, but we were not fans of the pillows, and needed to use two just to feel like we were supported. The bathroom is small but has all amenities, including a small blow-dryer, soaps, shampoo and lotion. There was a very small seating bar where we ate, because it was too smoky outside to enjoy meals, kind of tight, but the kitchen counters have plenty of room for prep and the full size sink and complement of dishes provided us ample opportunity to dine in. There is also a great buffet breakfast each morning in the main inn, homemade and featuring local and on-site grown fruits and veggies. Now the cons- My usual pet peeve about hotels and inns...cheap toilet paper, it's not cool, just sayin. And the carpets and rugs were filthy...that, IMO, is unforgivable. The inn may clean all the carpets seasonally, but when you walk around in your socks and they become black, it's a sign you either need to remove all the carpeting and offer only throw-rugs, or you need to clean them much more often, like weekly throughout the busy season. The kitchen and bathroom rugs, as well as the entry rug, were the same way. There is only a broom for clean-up, so if I had wanted to wash the tile floors, I couldn't. I would think they would swap out rugs after each guest stay, but apparently not. At more than $180 a night, I expect clean, clean, clean, even in a cabin. There were obvious bugs and cobwebs on the window sills and hanging from the upper windows and beams. Again, even though it's a cabin, at the price, it should shine like a new penny. Overall, I gave the stay a 4 because the charm, quiet, and comfort are there. I think that had the carpets and rugs been clean, we would have been over the moon, but that failure really detracted from our stay. That said, given the opportunity, we might book here again. read more

Wonderful stay at this inn. Rooms are very well appointed.. nice bedding, towels and robes. Clean, well maintained with fireplace and lots of windows to enjoy the view. Quiet location we slept with our windows open at night and we're not disturbed, it was wonderful to turn on the fireplace in the morning to warm it up and enjoy the fire. The breakfast buffet in the morning was great well stocked and a great variety. The inn staff were very pleasant. This is a lovely little inn with cabins. We stayed in cabin #12. It was cozy, comfortable and clean. The buffet breakfast was great; we loved the sausage and cheese polenta casserole. We grabbed one of their individual cabins, which was built for the 3 little pigs but nicely appointed and comfortable. It is just outside of town and it is walkable. The breakfast was great. This place was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I stayed in the Eagle's nest room in the Fall. Winthrop was stunning in October. It was so romantic and the room had beautiful views. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. I couldn't leave without buying some of the homemade granola. Cozy eating area with stunning rock fireplace. Wish we stayed longer and brought our swimsuits for the hot tub. They offer free movie rental too at the front, with a lot of new movies. Totally amazing experience. I expected it to be more rustic, but the cabin was really comfortable (especially for the affordable price). I stayed in one of the cabins located near the back of the property for 3 nights in August. The cabin was actually really spacious. There's a parking space right out front. The bathroom is to the right when you walk in and it had 4 sets of towels and complementary toiletries. The queen bed around the corner was soft and the bedding was higher quality than is typical for hotels. The flatscreen tv wasn't huge, but it got 20 channels and there was a DVD/VHS player. There's free wi-fi and I had no trouble getting a strong signal. The cabin came with a kitchenette stocked with a huge variety of cooking utensils (even an electric kettle and electric griddle!). The heater worked great. There's a patio out back with two chairs, a wooden table and a nice propane grill. We ended up BBQing out there one night. The owners have even provided folding chairs in the closet because they know you'll probably have a group of people at your cabin. The price of the room includes a breakfast served in the lobby at 8AM-9:30. I wasn't able to go to breakfast but the people I was traveling with had good things to say about it. The common area has tables and there's a hot-tub in the back. There's also 100+ VHS movies available to borrow. We hung out in the lobby playing cards (since the cabins are a bit small to fit many people inside). Great location. Its a 5 minute drive to downtown Winthrop or a 20 minute walk. I'll definitely stay here next time I'm in Winthrop. read more

We just returned to Seattle from our yearly trip to the Methow Valley (our 14th year). We usually rent a home for the week but decided to stay at the Chewuch Inn this time around. Very kind owners and really such a beautiful and homey place to stay. We chose one of the newer rooms with a king-sized bed. I'm a bit of a 'hotel' snob and was thrilled when we saw the room and the amenties offered. We loved the convenience of the location (last year we were 7 miles oustide Mazama and it was just too far) and the fact that we could meet (or not) other guests during breakfast. As a gay couple, we were never made to feel uncomfortable or 'out of place' and so, in that sense, the Chewuch Inn is very gay-friendly. We met a sweet older couple and another younger couple with a cute and vocal toddler. We're already planning another trip later this winter. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Chewuch Inn. read more

This is a fabulous place to stay in Winthrop. An easy, beautiful walk into downtown leaves the hotel far enough away to be quiet yet close enough for dinner. It's one of the best breakfasts I've ever had from a hotel and the hospitality is first class. I spent 2 nights here with 3 other guys riding the WA Backcountry Discover Route and felt relaxed and rested each morning. HIGHLY recommended! read more

Went for my birthday and the Balloon Festival in Winthrop. Loved this Inn. We stayed in one of the cabins. They are laid out well with a fireplace and small walk through kitchens. There was a BBQ grill off the back patio as well. Didn't use it b/c of all the snow. Other amenities: a hot tub off the lobby, movie library, tea and coffee throughout the day. They serve breakfast in the morning and have cookies in the evening. The woman who checked us in was friendly and it was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. Loved it! read more
