Spice Bazzar has rebranded and is now Spresh (Spicy Fresh). Now located further down the Plaza, closer to Sweet Home. Inside you will find Masala Memories, a food counter with dining area. The rest of the bazaar is a mix of dried goods, cold beverages, fresh fruit and veggies, bulk food, spices, snacks, sweets, canned goods, baked goods and holy items. Great new space, with bright lighting and wide aisles.

I love this place. Every now and then, you fill find items which are lacking labels, especially in the seafood section. There is also a little food court area where you can try a few food items. I like that their Indian foods do have a variety of foods from South India, which is hard in many Indian stores on the East Coast. The store is also exceptionally clean and items are reasonably priced. Id highly recommend coming here to check out the place and also having a snack or two at their little restaurant.

Huge selection of Indian foods! It's well-lit, clean, and spacious. The employees are friendly and helpful to white folks who are a little clueless (mentioning in case that's something that you were intimidated around). We haven't tried everything we bought yet but I will mention that they have the tiniest, most flavor-lacked ice creams that come with itty bitty spoons. Highly recommend!

    Receipt for the squash.

While the store has good choices (we have been shopping there and at its previous location in the same plaza for over 7-8 year spending hundreds of dollars a month), we never needed any service. But I am done with it after today. Among other things, I bought a squash today. At home we couldn't cut it's unusually hard skin, but after using a lot of brute force, I was able to make a cut. But cutting the rest of it was an impossible task. So I went to the store to exchange it. The clerk first said, they did not sell this. I then produced the receipt. She then said they don't take back vegetables. I asked to check with the manager. He came over and revised her statement to say they don't take back vegetables with cut marks (how else one would try to find a squash is edible or not). Anyway I then told them that since it is inedible, I am leaving and that they can throw away the squash. The clerk then said she can't touch the squash and I must take it away with me. I am so done with them!!!! Thank God there are other Indian stores in the area.

What : An Indian grocery store as it is a mini India carrying the most nostalgic stuff from back home. Aisles and more: Spices: Ever state of India has atleast 1 favorite spice and all the stores make it a point to carry them all to keep all of us happy :) Packaged Masalas/Spices: Shaan is a Pakistani brand of Spice line and are the best for Authentic Indian Meats and Biryaani. Everest is an Indian brand which is the most known and used for everything else. Ready spice mix: These are great to cook up some authentic stuff as its premixed with all the spices, oils, salt. Parampara brand is great . Ready to eat: If you ever wondered how an authentic Indian food tastes, this is great to start with. The spices are not mellowed down neither the recipes are changed. So next time if you don't have time for that huge Indian buffet, give this a try. They have Saag, Chana masala, Paneer stuff and most of famous stuff . MTR is the original brand from India and have the most authentic selections. Sanjeev kapoor's brand is close enough too. The one from other American grocery stores are again not the authentic ones as they have been modified to US pallet ! Veg: This is where all the Indian women tend to get more excited to finally prove their culinary skills from mom's kitchen or impress their just arrived mother in law from India who thinks that we just eat pizza and bread everyday! The cilantro , mint tomatoes are cheaper here than any grocery store around. Ginger is much strong and close to Indian ginger. Paneer: There are couple of brands in frozen section but can't vouch on even one. The Nanak brand is much closer to homemade quality. Lentils: You can find several kinds and most of them are similar to Goya brand but again all the regional presence is there and great way to switch to lean proteins. Mangoes: Seasonal fruit and trust me, if you want to try the real sweet mangoes, you can't find these anywhere but here. Rice/Flour: Ever wonder why they sell such huge bags of Whole wheat flour? Because most of the households make their own thin flat breads/Rotis. Yes, we do not eat Naan everyday :) Basmati is for fancy rice varities but for everyday use most popular rice is Sona-masoori . All the grocery store are pretty much same just carrying more or less Vegetables. As always for cilantro & mint ask the cashier to get you some fresh ones from their treasure trove at back :)

    Aisles of snacks!

So, I'd stopped in to Markheim Tropical Fish next door, and we still had some time to kill before we had an event to go to, so Lee and I popped in to this market to check it out. Well .. I popped in to check it out, and he somewhat grudgingly followed in my wake. He's not the most adventurous type in the world. Anyway, this place is pretty cool. I am not incredibly familiar with the full breadth and depth of Indian Cuisine, as India is a pretty ginormous country, with a number of different cuisines, but I know a little bit. It was fun to see a breadth and depth of produce, dry goods, and a lot of interesting snack foods. I love snacks, so I grabbed some savory instant oatmeal, and some other things to try, including a bag of Lay's "Magic Masala" potato chips. The staff was courteous and friendly, not minding my questions. I took the chips out to the car, and immediately ripped open the bag. Lee was extremely dubious, but fished a chip out. "These are way too spicy, he declared, yet continued to eat them. I think he was a little bit of a convert, there at the end. I have to go back now, and get some more!

It is a good place to most of the Indian stuff. I found 99% of all that I had on my list. Friendly staff.

Do they sell Lauki as well?

Yes, but watch out. If it is bad or bitter, not only no refund but also become very unhelpful to the extent of not disposing of it.

They have rows of Indian snacks - chips, snack mixes, cookies, etc (we picked up Lays manufactured in India featuring masala seasoning).

Naturally, I still find myself frequenting this Wegmans whenever I'm back in Buffalo. The Amherst Street Wegmans has a massive parking lot, though you would never know it during the peak hours. Between how popular this store already is and the addition of the Wegmans Wine & Spirits shop in the same plaza, it's usually pretty packed. You might not snag a spot close to the entrance but you'll find a spot. Might I suggest that patience is basically required, as with all things Wegmans. Once inside, I'm almost always overwhelmed (in the best way) by how much there is. Prepared foods, deli counter, meat and seafood, bakery, flowers, produce, frozen foods. You name it, Wegmans has it and they probably have a Wegmans branded version, too. I love browsing the craft beer section and, more recently, the growing selection of non-alcoholic options (Thank you, Wegmans!). Honestly, I can't complain. Yes, Wegmans can feel overwhelming, but now that I don't actually work there anymore, I've grown to appreciate the variety, freshness, quality, and pricing. The things I would do for Wegmans to come to the West Coast... until then, I'll keep savoring every visit to Weggies while I'm back home.
