If you're looking for a hard-to-find treat, or spice, or sauce, or beverage, or fresh fruit/vegetable, chilled meat... and the list really goes on. And it's at An Chau's! There are just so many good things packed on the store shelves, it's actually a little difficult not to walk out with more than you'd gone looking for. They've become a regular stop, and the place to stock up on anything Asian, Halal, Indian, and some Jamaican foods as well. Give the store a browse - at the very least you'll walk out with some candy (the coffee candy is exceptional) or other quick treat.

I really needed Indian food ingredients and ordering online is just not nearly as fun. So I went. Couple points I will agree with~ - some of the items are "expired" and some - not majority-- of the produce items were likely not something I'd get unless I was cooking today. With all that being said you'll see I still chose 5 stars and here's why. - everything I needed to make 3 Indian recipes they had. And it was all within date range by a year plus. One item (aamchur) I had to check a few different bags to get one that was definitely within date but it was there! The prices were fantastic. I couldn't find one ingredient- Asafoetida powder- so at checkout I asked if by chance they did have it. The woman behind the counter was extremely accommodating. She looked for me, acknowledged there was a block version but she didn't think it was exactly right for me and told me she'd request it on the next order and told me to come back 3 days later and they'd have it. I loved that. I would highly recommend goIng. They have other varieties besides strictly Indian cuisine ingredients and if they are out of something they're willing to get it in quick.

Produce: limited, shriveled, old; seemed like they got produce that were going bad from other grocery stores; disappointing. Each aisle had an assortment of ethnic items. There were a lot of middle eastern products, as well as, some Asian products. I didn't know what a lot of things were. However, I think it you're going to cook an ethnic meal, you'll probably find something you need here. Refrigerated Section: the most random things were in here. there was one big container of coffee-mate, two cartons of eggs, some beverages.....I honestly wouldn't trust buying anything from the refrigerated section They had frozen chicken with the skin on in cardboard boxes.... They also have a "fresh meat" section, but it wasn't set up yet. On the left side when you walk in, there are 3 aisles filled with an assortment of household items, cleaning supplies, DVDs, and silverware. The store has a feel of a run-down Asian market. I asked the lady at the register if they are new, and she said, "Yes. We opened 2 weeks ago." It's always cool to check out new businesses that open around the neighborhood.

If you want to try something new this place is perfect. If you cook for a vegetarian or a vegan this place has as many options as the co-op. I go to this store at least once a week and usually twice. If you are looking to pick up general staples this isn't the place you want to stop. If you're looking to find new staples to have on hand for quick dinners you should absolutely go here. Every week I pick up jackfruit, produce for curry, pre fried tofu, a pack of five Bahn Bao (translates to big bun filled with awesome things), and as many Boba Tea as I think I have room for in the freezer. It's outward appearance is very deceiving. It looks like a neglected bodega on the outskirts of Brooklyn. If you go inside you will NOT be disappointed.

These meatless ham logs sometimes have egg whites and ever since the Asia Grocery on Niagara Falls Boulevard stopped carrying them, I've been contemplating ordering some online. However, the vegetarian "bacon ham" is just what I needed. It's very good, though I have had some even tastier brands. The people are nice and they accept credit cards without an extra fee. Planning to try every green, one by one. I try to eat leafy greens every day and have this place nearby will surely help!

There are hundreds of variety of kimchi made from napa cabbage, radish, scallion, or cucumber as the main ingredient. The most common seasonings include brine, scallions, ginger, garlic, shrimp sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce. -Wikipedia on kimchi ************************************** So I really just come to Lin Asian Market for their kimchi. I know it could seem silly to write a review for one item but there's only one other review for this place so I'll just share my experience! It's pretty fun to come here and be the lost minority person walking around as it's located in a pretty diverse part of town and I only see Asians walking in and out. The people here are so kind in helping out though - it's really sweet. The kimchi at Wegman's is pretty pricy so I thought there has to be a cheaper way to get this stuff. I don't see any Koreans at Wegman's (usually) and I know they must be buying it somewhere, right? I came in here and asked if they had it. It's stored in one of the coolers on the back wall and you can get twice as much for the same price here. It's crazy that Wikipedia says there's hundreds of varieties of kimchi. Whatever variety they sell here at Lin is so delicious. I will sometimes just stand in my kitchen eating it out of the jar with a fork. Supposedly there are recipes to use it for? Maybe one day I'll get tired of eating it raw. Plus, fermented foods are so good for you. Like so good. I haven't really tried anything else here. It's predominantly Burmese and Thai food but they carry other Asian specialties like kimchi. The rice bags they sell are of Thai origin. They sell all kinds of Asian produce. Their little produce section has stuff I never see at big grocery stores. Come and check it out - like M J's review said, they are super nice and helpful here.

This assures that you're not buying things that have been sitting on the shelves for years and that the produce is as fresh as can be.
