Spread Eagle Tavern in Haverton Ohio. It is a beautiful political tavern. It has many pictures of Presidents all over the tavern. It was also Christmas time so many Christmas trees and decorations. There are staircases that lead one way and end up in other areas of the tavern. The staff is very polite and helpful. The food was delicious. We had for appetizers to share the devil eggs, peppers, shrimp cocktail, the quiche, chicken pot pie. And for dinner the strip steak, chicken Wellington, shrimp and crab crepe, the broiled cod. And last vanilla cheese cake, the crème brûlée and the cherry pie. Everything was excellent and portions were so big we shared everything. Definitely when back in Salem I would love to come again.

I love this place!!! We started with the bruschetta and baked Brie. Both were very good choices, the bruschetta tasted fresh and I liked the feta and tomato's on the crisp bread. The baked Brie was my favorite! The Brie and warm raspberry sauce were perfect together. I had the prime rib which was perfectly cooked and delicious. We finished with the warm apple crisp. The food was delicious and the courses perfectly timed. I loved the history of the Spread Eagle! The staff was very helpful and went above and beyond! Thank you Spread Eagle for an amazing time!

We've been coming here for special occasions for years. Love the atmosphere, food, staff and history. Such a unique restaurant right here in Ohio. One of these days we'll stay the night! Lincoln room is definitely on our list of things to do. Great job, as always!

Atmosphere: The place is absolutely beautiful on the inside. You can tell it is old and historic and it has a wonderful rustic, homey feel to it. We were seated near a fireplace that was very beautiful and warm. Our server was a very pleasant young lady with great manners and checked up on us often but not too often that it was annoying. I can not say better things about the customer service she displayed. She also gave me the choice to either box my leftovers myself or allow her to box it up. Usually it is one way or the other. It was disappointing to of paid $140 and drive 45 minutes for our meal that really was just lack luster but the customer service was just great. I still tipped her $30 because she did nothing wrong. Just wish the food had matched up with the service. Food: So I started off with their house Cabernet Sauvignon which was very delicious. It was the only kind of Cab they carried so I was happy it was good. For appetizers, I got their Liberty Onion soup and my friend Liv got their baked Brie appetizer. The Liberty Onion soup was very delicious. Maybe too much crouton to where it took up most of the broth but overall, I would eat it again in a heartbeat. The brie was also very good but for $18 the ratio between the actual brie and the things that came with it, there just wasn't enough of the cheese. It should have come in a larger portion in our opinion. Liv and I drove 45 minutes to come to this place specifically for the Beef Wellington. We have both wanted to try it for years. Beef Wellington is ALWAYS supposed to be cooked to a medium rare. That was just not the case in this situation. Hers was cooked slightly (very slightly) better than mine but both our puff pastries were burnt and mine (see pictures) was just completely overcooking. There was about a fingertip size portion of the middle that was slightly pink but It was definitely cooked to medium (perhaps a little more than medium). The mushroom in it and the sauce that came with it were very good but that was it. I was very disappointed. When the server came back, I asked what they normally cook it to and she said medium rare and I was hoping she would get the hint that mine was overcooked (I didn't want to complain since I was out with a friend and she drove 45 minutes) but she did not take the hint. We also didn't want to wait for new ones. Liv ended up eating hers but I only had not even a fourth of it. Needless to say, I took the leftovers home and never ate them. Perhaps it was an off day but I left hungry.

I love the background and look of Spread Eagle Tavern & Inn. The history is so prominent, with a quiet elegance that makes you pause and appreciate. The cute area of town is the perfect backdrop for this lovely business. We stopped only to have a beverage and to take a little tour. The bartender was so friendly and nice. Our iced teas tasted fantastic. They were refreshing - just what we were looking for. Next time, I'd love to enjoy a meal and spend more time here. The dining room is rustic and cozy. It lends itself to the history behind this building. I felt so lucky to have been able to visit and see it with my own eyes. The rooms are beautiful as well. I would love to stay here on another visit to this charming slice of Americana.

My wife and I came out on a Wednesday night to finally try this iconic landmark and had a Fantastic culinary experience. Our server Maddie was flying solo this evening but you wouldn't have known it based on the level of attention she provided. We paired our dinners with a chilled Sauvignon Blanc and it too was delicious. The setting inside the inn was better than we imagined. Hats off to the manager, chef and Maddie for providing an exquisite dining experience.

It's my Birthday, and despite my terrible disappointment at our last visit I couldn't resist since we were passing by. I was somewhat concerned because of Covid now, but called and they said the patio was open. Turned out everyone else thought it was too cold to be on the patio, so we were the only ones there! We really enjoyed ourselves, and our server Madeline was a delight. I might add the much older more mature hostess went out of her way to show us the patio first to see if we would be comfortable there before seating us. Everything was perfect this visit. Food and service was off the charts! The water feature on the patio made me want to stay and enjoy it for several hours. Such a beautiful setting!

This venue is so unique and historic (and....surprise....it's haunted!) and I love everything about it. The food was exceptionally delicious. My dining companion and I shared the charcuterie plate and we each had a bowl of the french onion soup. I had the elk (every bite was just mouth wateringly good) and he had the pork chop. Tender and flavorful. I was a little sad to skip dessert, but we really were just too full. I cannot wait to make a trip back here! We also walked around throughout the rest of the venue to look at the various dining rooms and the inn. You can feel history breathing and alive here. You really get the pulse of another era. It's like stepping back in time a couple centuries. I would love to come stay here one day.

Food and service was tasty as long as one did not mind all the Republican dignitaries looking down as one eats!

We were warmly greeted by Todd and Gina, the owners, who couldn't have been friendlier. Todd told us all about their wines, including the awards they've won, especially in California, and generously offered us the chance to try any of the wines at no cost. We started with the Gruner Veltliner, a bright, citrusy, and crisp wine. It was extremely dry compared to other Gruners we've had, which are usually more fruit-forward, but it was still quite enjoyable. Next, we tried the Riesling, which was also very good. My wife moved over to the semi-sweet side and tried the Traminette, which I eventually sampled after trying all the dry wines. We both really liked it. I then tried the Cabernet Franc, which was a medium-bodied wine with notes of raspberry, blueberry, and a light mocha oakiness--delicious! The Chambourcin was also quite good, without the typical bite or tartness. Lastly, the Flagship Red, a classic Bordeaux-style dry red, had a pleasant hint of pepper and was definitely a standout. Todd shared that they exclusively offer wines from Stony Run Vineyards in Breinigsville, PA, which has a wide selection. They're also planning to offer Old Fashioneds soon, as their winery includes a distillery, and they'll be featuring a "drink of the week" as well. What really sets this place apart, though, is Todd and Gina themselves. They're genuinely kind people who are dedicated to the community, and it was heartwarming to learn that they both served in the US Military--Todd in the Navy and Gina in the Air Force. We're already looking forward to our next visit when we're in the area again. Don't forget to thank them for their service when you stop by!

We had a lovely time though we weren't thrilled about sitting in the tiny side room at the tiny 4-person bar with our backs to the room...it felt cramped. Our server helped us choose the perfect bottle of wine from an extensive collection. The apples and rice appetizer was excellent..like arancini balls. My husband had the duck and liked it. I had the lumache which was just ok. The pasta was a little too al dente and the large clumsy shells didn't seem like the right shape for the delicate dish. It was supposed to come with shrimp, but surprise...nope! It came with lobster. I find lobster a bit sweet and thought shrimp would have worked better. This girl is usually in the clean plate club when it comes to pasta and seafood dishes but not tonight. I will say that the dessert alone was worth the one hour drive.. the smoked smores arrived with a bell jar of smoke which the server whisked off to reveal a delectable gooey to-die-for cake smothered in caramel and marshmallow. Did I mention it came with two cups of hot white chocolate to pour over the whole thing? Omg..drool-worthy.
